So...yeah? We get to hear a lot about Minato...Minato this...Minato that? How about the woman behind the man? Will Kishimoto revealed more about her? Or will we just get left with a cliffhanger...wondering wtf it meant by "hailed from the Whirlpool Country meant."

Kishimoto said in an interview a while back that he would eventually reveal Kushina's fate, so more than likely eventually we'll at least find that out for sure.

Watch it be something Danzo says more or less offhand while he's fighting Sasuke. I know the Raikage seemed to suspect Danzo had some involvement with the Kyuubi attack on Konoha... (And Madara certainly did, so at this moment at least two people around Sasuke just might have some knowledge of Kushina, despite Minato and Kushina's attempt to keep their relationship secret.)

Kakashi would have known of Kushina too, so possibly it might be something Kakashi reveals to Naruto. Now that he knows who his father is he more than likely wonders about his mother and what happened to her. Since she's always referred to in past tense she's most likely dead, and died the night of the Kyuubi attack (childbirth complications being the most likely, and the village being under attack by the Kyuubi it's likely no medic nin could attend Kushina) since Jiraiya was the one who named Naruto.

It most likely will, but I doubt it will be very important. Kishimoto doesn't seem to like writing about women much, and when he does, it's usually only as a way to build up his male characters. So, I agree with ciardha. It'll just be a passing mention, like the first time we heard her name.

I have a sinking feeling about this too! I really hope though that it was a complicated birth that took Kushina, certainly Naruto has had things too difficult and complicated already...

It would build in another parallel with Gaara too, his mother Karura died as she was giving birth to him- a sacrifice to the death god, but I bet unlike Karura- who cursed her son with her dying breaths, Kushina blessed Naruto with hers- wishing him to become like his heroic namesake. That was her wish as she carried Naruto within her womb, so it would make sense that she verbalized that as her dying words to her newborn child.

I hope so, but I don't really think he'll go into big detail on Kushina's fate. Just as other people have said, maybe a reference in passing, or a revelation, but not a big thing or anything...

I kinda wish there would be a flashback or something with Kakashi interacting with both Kushina and Minato. That'd be fun, or bittersweet... either way. Awesome.

Manga has been "pretty" hectic as of late and I would like to see a calm stage before the final stage and all hell loose. SO it would be nice and fit to see some stories from the past of Minato, Kushina and Kakashi. I wonder what kind of advice did Jiraya give to Minato before first date (if he did)... heheelq7.png

At this moment, I rather want to know about Naruto's parents than Naruto's indecision about Sasuke. I want to know where Naruto's smart ass attitude came from. It could be from himself since he was spited as a child and had to be a loud mouth to direct any attention.

I was just thinking about Naruto's parents after watching the last anime episode (140 or 141? The one where Sasuke learns the truth about Itachi.). We know so much about Sasuke's parents - they've gotten so much coverage! But Naruto's parents are epically important to the story, not as so much plot device as Sasuke's parents. ea. There is so much that has been inferred about Kushina and Minato and their characteristics, that I am almost expecting a little storyline about them. Hopefully it will be more than just a passing reference and Minato's moment in the Kakashi-Obito-Rin arc (gaiden?).

Anyway, I hope in the end we get as much ink on Kushina and Minato as we have on Sasuke's mom and dad.

Of course we'll learn about Kushina. Kishi has unveiled more and more of Naruto's past, and I'm pretty sure Kushina played as big of a role in Naruto's creation. I won't go into closer detail on how that happened though, so I'll just put my faith in your schools. From where I'm standing, there are two possible ways to write Kushina.

1. She was an incredible kunoichi strong enough to give Minato trouble, which turned into mutual respect, rivalry, friendship and finally <3
2. She was an average kunoichi, but well armed with Naruto's superpower (the power to turn anyone into a friend). With average, I mean jounin level, and capable like Anko, Kurenai, Temari... *add female jounin here*

She had Naruto's talent for ninjutsu though, so she was probably pretty awesome. I suppose she was another chakra freak like her son turned out to be ^^

I'm still not convinced that she's dead though. This is a shounen manga, and all we have to go by is speculation. They speak of her in past tense, but it hasn't been confirmed that she's dead. I'm hoping she'll be a main part of some arc where Naruto doesn't have to find Sasuke to get to the main point of the story. Perhaps she could be in a coma, and they needed some fancy cure or a specialist in whatever was wrong with her? Fanfiction has gotten my hopes up, and I'm waiting to learn more. biggrin.gif

My personal knowing on the subject is that, as stated above she is talked about in the past tense. Which I'm pretty sure she is dead. As much as it saddens me to think that a character tha strikes my interest is probably dead, We still don't know if that is true.

I noticed earlier that someone mentioned something about Naruto's personality. If I am correct in the manga at chapter 367, when Tsunade and Jiraiya are talking, and mentioning Kushina Uzumaki that they state that Naruto's Personality and ninjutsu style came from Kushina. So the whole attitude and smart ass remarks are more then likely from her. As for his appearance well thats a no brainer on who that came from.

I really do hope that in this year of 2010 we hear something more to the Kushina tale. She is by far to me the most mysterious and interesting character in the series. And this is probably because we know absolutly nothing about her, except that she was Naruto's mother. I mean personally I'm questioning if she was even Married to Minato.

I think that Naruto obtained the last name Uzumaki for his own protection, As the forth stated when talking with Naruto, that the third did hide a lot about his family. And that if others found out that he was his son that a problem would arise. So as for Kushina I don't really think she was married to Minato. For whenever the characters talk of her, they mention her Maiden name. Just a thing that I was wondering.

She looked really pretty when she was carrying Naruto though...completely different from the Kushina that Jiraiya and Tsunade were talking about...must be the fact that she was becoming a mother soon.

what if there was an even bigger secret behind the fact of why naruto's true heritage was kept secret. other than the fact that he was the 4th hokage's son....maybe it had something to do with his mother. something so big that they had to change his name and keep it entirely secretive. something important in the story, something very important.

Well as a child (probably meaning young Genin around 10-12 years old) she was a major tomboy that preferred fighting along with the boys to anything girly (I could see her being good friends with Tsume Inuzuka though- she had to have been a major tomboy too as a girl, she never seems to have developed any interest in any feminine things. Yoshino (Shikamaru's mom) was likely pretty much a tomboy too as a girl. Heh, a tomboy trio of friends- Kushina enjoying playing pranks on the boys, Tsume scaring the heck out of the boys, and Yoshino doing the tsundere thing with great relish.

Yup! a_thumbs.gif If other ninjas find out that he was really a Namikaze, the Fourth Hokage's son, well, his father's enemies would come after him to seek revenge, right? But, I think that they were married. Though, she had probably won fame when she was still an Uzumaki so everyone knows her by her maiden name, perhaps. I also remembered reading somewhere, that Minato and Kushina tried to keep their relationship/marriage secret. happy.gif Only a handful of people, close personal friends, know about this, according to that site. (Which I can't remember. At all. Sorry. *sweatdrop*)

well i certainly do believe that it is quite possible. with all the secrets that have been going around, especially since they've all been about sasuke. now its narutos turn! i mean why else has kishi just about never mentioned naruto's mother once. i mean seriously, after he met his dad for the first time, you'd think he'd seriously have a big thought about who is mother was about. but kishi totally ignored that.
