#959413 Analysis of NS scenes post-ending

Posted by The Tax-Man on 31 December 2017 - 09:21 PM

It is even more apparent that he either didn't write the ending himself or anything when they ask him questions about the future and he is like "I don't know." I mean, you are the writer, how do you not know what happens?

"I don't know how SasuSaku got together"

How do you not know? You just put two people together and said "They are together. Not sure why or if there even is a reason, but it is there."

90% sure that he was up to his ears in meddling executives and editors for at least the whole last year of the manga. There's no way anyone can deny that, at this point. Slightly more debatable: his scrotum was in a vice for at least half of part 2. How else do you explain the inconsistencies in the plot? Even I don't think he's that incompetent. "Sakura wants to be strong and stand beside her teammates," to "I don't know how to write Sakura tbh," to "she's no more important to the story than, say, Kiba or Rock Lee," over the course of one year? Are you kidding me? The funny thing about Naruto, as a whole, is how little sense craptastic parts make behind the scenes. Like, is the guy a rebelling genius, or a comically lucky jackass who managed to accidentally write a story with a brilliant beginning and middle? If he's so terrible at writing romances (as he himself proclaims and as the evidence shows, if he's to be believed when he says that the current state of the story was all according to plan), how in the world did he manage to write a decade-long, believable slow-burn romance before bringing it all down in a raging inferno like it was a straw hut? Nothing makes sense anymore.

#959301 The Great Naruto Discussion Thread

Posted by The Tax-Man on 30 December 2017 - 05:44 AM

I have a serious question to ask guys. In all seriousness if Naruto married Sakura and the plot happened the same as it does now with the new era project and Boruto, except that Sakura is the mother would you STILL hate this series? Now I know that that obviously plot wise Sakura would not be this passive doormat that lets Naruto stay in office,or would permit their children to become spoiled entitled brats like Hinata does, but for the sake of argument, that it does work out the same way. Would you hate this story or stick by it just because NaruSaku became canon? I have a point with this. That is, the difference between being a fan of the story or a fan of the shipping. I want to DISPROVE what the pro-enders say about us on how we would be eating this "garbage heap" like it was candy if NaruSaku happened

Let's pretend that this happened. Let's not even change the names of the snack gallery kids. As you already pointed out, Naruto's character assassination would make even less sense than it does now, and the children would have to have had some major early childhood issues to turn out the way they did. But the plot itself? It would become downright nonsensical (and let's not even go into how much of a terrible…everything Naruto is at this point). How many of us here would stick around other than maybe following along for curiosity's sake?

The point I'm trying to make is that not many would like it much more than they do now. Sure, there are some who would be happy since, apparently, the ships were their only beef with the ending and everything since then. But even when we were in the War arc and nearing the inevitable end (with the endless powerups, villains materializing out of thin air, things being pulled outta Kishimoto's ass left and right…you get what I'm saying), I saw plenty of discontent with how the plot seemed to be getting more and more unpredictable in the sense that anything could happen for no good reason. I know I was getting plenty tired of how major plot points were being dropped or handwaved away in favor of some Dragon Ball 3.0 level BS, and by the end, I was mostly just sticking it out to see if things would properly be resolved. Obviously, things were not. Resolved. They were the opposite of resolved. Nothing was resolved in any meaningful way, and there was zero substantial change in the setting itself. After all of that, it would have taken masterful planning and writing to get things back on track. Failing that, there was never really any hope for this universe. I suppose my answer is that no, I wouldn't stick around and I doubt many who took the story seriously would.

(Funny that I'm back and the first thing I do is b*tch and moan about that ending and the dumpster fire that the Naruto universe has become. Yeah. Good times.)

#634058 Chapters 699+700 spoilers

And in the time of need, I shall pop up once more.

Guys, chill. Evil is kittening with us. The Sun picture is supposed to be NH, the fan and tree SS, and the gender/symbol one SK. So they're probably trying to rile people up and break NF.

Well, either that or KSS threesome.  :hehehe:

#567862 Chapter 689

Posted by The Tax-Man on 23 August 2014 - 06:05 AM

I just can't see them together after everything that has happened and after the Kage Summit  and this chapter that this is the last of them I really think that the message is that  no matter what you can't severe bonds no matter how awful they are so I think it will be Sasuke just accepting the "bond" with them and going on his own separate way with Taka as his support  I think this would be an surprised ending and a good one for them besides that I can't imagine him happy in the village where his clan was destroyed  IMO.

Well first off, there's nothing surprising about that. To my knowledge, someone on this very forum said that might happen in like 2010. I still think that might be interesting, though.

However, I see no merit in the "can't be happy in the village" argument. With good company, it shouldn't make a difference if he actually changes (he hasn't in any meaningful way, so far, except for when required to do so temporarily by the plot). Also, kitten his happiness. He has done nothing to deserve such a luxury.

As for Taka, they shouldn't exist, period--at least not the way they've been used in the story. They've contributed nothing to the story except being Team 7 stand-ins and plot devices so far. As it stands, I just ignore that part of the plot because I'm sure by now that Kishimoto doesn't even see the obvious problem here... So yeah, whatever. If that happens without proper character development for all parties involved, respect for the manga gets another -2 modifier in my books.

#524564 Sasuke stabbing habit: Naruto vs Karin

Posted by The Tax-Man on 25 April 2014 - 02:39 AM

Oh, this thing again. Eh, I'll take a shot at it.

[1)] You see it from the perspective of Naruto and Karin, but I think it's more important to see it from Sasuke's point of view considering he's the one who committed the acts. Naruto and Karin where in his way and he dealt with them accordingly. I really don't see how in it's essence one can be different from the other.

[...]

[2)] Sasuke chose to try and kill both Naruto and Karin, the circumstances are different but Sasuke's intents are the same. Also, Naruto didn't start to fight Sasuke expecting that he would try to kill him, it was only after a while that Naruto came to that realization and it broke his heart. Naruto also felt betrayed by what Sasuke kept doing in the Valley of the End.

1) The circumstances (and Sasuke's mental state) were completely different. I don't mean any offense (and I know you do great analyses), but I honestly can't take anyone's comprehension of the manga seriously if they think these things are essentially similar. "Why"? Because first of all, Naruto and Karin were both "in his way", but in completely different ways. Naruto was trying to stop Sasuke from pursuing his revenge. Sasuke was already ENORMOUSLY ticked off by that point because of Naruto's rapid growth and the fact that if it continued, he would surely be left far behind. It wasn't the most sane decision Sasuke's ever made (yeah, right), but he stabbed a man who outright picked a fight at a time when feelings of inadequacy, a need to prove himself, and suppressed anger were the biggest motivators of his actions. Essentially, Sasuke stabbed his rival - the guy who he basically saw as his 'sworn enemy' because of his state of mind at that point - and took the fight too far.

Now Karin, on the other hand, had NOTHING to do with the conflict when she was stabbed. She was, for all intents and purposes, a mere part of the scenery in Sasuke's mind. His fight was fully with Danzo and no one else. She "got in his way" in the same way as a tree does. Or that was the way Sasuke acted, anyway. In that sense, his stabbing of Danzo through Karin like she was a prop was much less justified and thus much more of a betrayal.

2) True on most counts. No one ever said Naruto didn't feel betrayed or expected Sasuke to kill him. However, from Sasuke's point of view (as you want us to focus on), he'd told Naruto to back the kitten off. Now, no one goes into a fight expecting to be killed, it just happens. That's a possibility you MUST be prepared for and, being a ninja (laughably), Naruto would've known that.

Now, I'm not arguing that Sasuke was completely justified in trying to kill Naruto or that he didn't betray him. BUT, such behavior is much less acceptable if the object of said stabbing happens to never have opposed a word you said and has been on your side of things for a long time. Hell, I seem to recall a lot of people saying that he'd grown to care a little about Taka by then. So please, do correct me if I'm wrong in saying that Sasuke should lose much more respect in the eyes of readers for what he did to Karin relative to what he did to Naruto.

On a final note, this is exactly why Karin not feeling betrayed in the slightest and going back to fangirl mode after, like, 5 panels being kindasorta mad at him utterly destroys any semblance of a "backbone" people claim she has.

#522740 Naruto 673 Spoilers

Posted by The Tax-Man on 14 April 2014 - 09:56 PM

I also want Naruto x Sasuke's fight, but not on the same intensity as before, i feel like it's going to be a fight full of new jutsus and in the end the one who will win will be the one who will asspull the last jutsu.

The first Naruto x Sasuke fight was awesome because they did the best with what they had at the moment there were no asspulls jutsus.
It ended with Sasuke's chidori vs Naruto's rasengan and Sasuke won.

Not that simple. First of all, there is nothing left to asspull. At this point most powers they get ARE justified. We need to get our definitions straight.

On a different note, I seriously feel like the final battle will be evenly matched. Really, I think it'll be more of a battle of ideals/attitude than anything else.

And as far as the VotE fight goes, it most certainly was not that simple. At that point, they were evenly matched, then Naruto had the upper hand, then they were evenly matched again, then Sasuke slightly gained the upper hand because of his omnipresent plot armor. At the end, it all came down to how far they were prepared to go (especially Naruto). Sasuke didn't win because be was stronger; it's not that simple. If anything, the rasengan has been explicitly stated to be inherently superior to the Chidori over and over again, so there's that.

#513606 Naruto 663

After Naruto is resuscitated I'm sure we will see all of Sakura's emotions pour out, its just that right now, she is fighting to save the one she loves.

Agreed on Sakura. It's pretty much a given that she will let her emotions come out sooner or later. I just love that she hasn't let that happen yet. She's actually not giving up and doing everything in her power to save Naruto. She has her game face on instead of bawling her eyes out, even if her eyes do suggest her fears.

Naruto will probably NOT be resuscitated. Calling it, again. Madara's most definitely on his way to Minato as well, and god knows he is way faster and stronger than anyone else. I have a feeling that the sealing will fail/not work. Then, Naruto will actually die (not permanently or for long, of course). This is absolutely necessary to get the audience and characters to the highest point of despair and hopelessness from a narrative point of view. And I will LOVE that - especially the return of hope afterwards.

As far as Madara goes, he is done very well. There, I said it. Madara is truly the first villain in this story that has pretty much succeeded with literally no army capable of stopping him. I don't know about you guys, but I just got a lot more respect for Kishimoto. He's doing what all storytellers are too afraid to do, especially in this genre: actually making a completely impregnable wall from all sides that must be climbed (and indeed will be climbed sooner or later) by the heroes. Of course, nothing is 'impregnable' and the real catharsis will come from the success of the protagonists in this insurmountable task.

About life's peak, I meant that your appearance with the Edo Tensei will reasemble you as in the most important moment in your past life. For chiyo, maybe her encounter with Sakura and her fight with Sasori made her have an realization. It was in this specific moment that her life felt more vivid.

[...]

Minato doesn't have one arm.
The chakra of the Dak Half/Ying Kurama can only touch the Bright Half/Yang Kurama.

Okay, what? First of all, no. It most certainly does not reincarnate you in 'the most important moment' of your life. It reincarnates you exactly as you were when you died minus any injuries etc. The only known exception is Madara, but Kabuto explicitly said he was a special case since he brought him back in his prime AND made him much more powerful than he ever was in real life (with Hashi's DNA). I have no idea where you're getting this stuff, but it's completely false.

So who ever said that the Kurama's Yang chakra can only touch the Yin chakra? That makes no sense whatsoever. Like, what? :/  Anyway... Kurama's chakra is not sealed in the edo body, it's sealed within Minato's SOUL. That's literally the point of the dead demon consuming seal. It seals whatever you want in your soul, then your soul gets sealed in the death god. Minato's soul is pretty much connected with the yin half because they were sealed together. When he was brought back, it would only make sense if the yin chakra came with him too. All he has to do is somehow 'cut' that connection and then just do a normal seal on Naruto.

So yeah, I have no idea what your point is. If I'm misunderstanding, feel free to correct me.

EDIT:

Kster95, please don't double post.
