Let's be honest, if everyone here wasn't still slightly hooked on Naruto one way or the other, we wouldn't still be currently talking about it. In any shape or form. Those that that left forums for good are the ones that really tried to quit this series.

I'm not hooked on Naruto anymore, I was but for me it's dead. I'm still here because like I said I like the community here plus some of the members here still post news about mini-series and the novels and I find that incredibly funny. It bothers me to see something that I liked being destroyed but at the same time it's hilarious to see such stupidity from these people.

Right now Naruto is just one giant parody that just keeps finding ways of making a mockery of itself.

You were curious about something so I explained. Was it better if I ignored you instead of trying to be nice to you by giving an answer to what you're curious about? And what's this you're talking about criticisms? I thought you were asking a question, not criticizing me. And I never said I don't care about criticisms about me did I?

Okay then, I was distanced then. But now I got over it and is able to laugh about it.

Hey I cringed way back in pt1 when Naruto didn't agree with Jiraiya about leaving Sasuke be. That's when I quit caring about the characters and just kept hoping the story might turn out alright. But since the characters became bigger than the story we got what we got. However I'm honest when I say the bulk of pt1 is why I still hang around.

Okay, then it's my misunderstanding. I thought you wanted to know why people take odd actions. It seems like you wanted to criticize the odd people with no interest in knowing their motivations. There's nothing more for me to explain here. Do what you want.

I'm the same way. Any interest I had is completely gone. I hang around here because it's a good community. But I don't consume Naruto stuff anymore. There are a handful of fics I'm still following because I want to see them through, but other than that, I just don't care.

Yes, and I addressed them which you didn't exactly a convincing argument, in fact you seemed to be deflecting the basic fact that continuing to read Naruto, even if it's for some kind of derisive humour, implies a measure of value being assigned to in spite in spite of the fact that you're "done with the series". It sounds like a contradiction of statements more than anything.

No, it's not contradicting. I took a distance from Naruto because I was upset about it and didn't want anything to do with it. I passed that phase and instead of feeling upset I started to find the bs of this series "funny". It's called change. I won't have the same feelings I had a year ago with the feelings I have now. In fact I used to love the series five years ago and now I can't say I love it. People can change their feelings of the series. Just because you don't hate something anymore, or you don't love something anymore, or you don't ignore something anymore it doesn't make you a contradicting person. Oh and I'll admit, I laugh at stories like Twilight or 50SOG because the story is so stupid. If you want to call me that "valuing" the series, feel free to do so I disagree with you. @4life: I just realized that after having been betrayed a second time in just a matter of months yet still wanting to cling to Sasuke that Naruto's persona was going to be portrayed as far too unbelievable to me. That betrayal should've been written as doing more damage than it did and forcing Naruto to forever question who he could ever really trust. But Kishi decided to keep Naruto far too naïve, far too ignorant and way too trusting. He basically made every character never learn from their past mistakes.

But you are invested the series in some form or another. It's not dismissal or apathy to such harsh degrees that you want absolutely nothing to do with it. You're finding some reason to continue following it, even read the weekly releases. Am I wrong?

He doesn't concern himself with the series, yet there's enough emotional value, albeit negative, to read the series for his amusement while also arguing that he's "distanced" from it? It's a paradox - either you're interested in the series for other motives than what may have originally compelled you to follow it or you cannot find anything substantial to maintain interest and have let it go.
