Wonderful...

Light and Shadow are the only static creations of this universe.

So Naruto was a good closer for ratings. So they bought Boruto and put them both in the front hoping it would increase rating. Didn't work out, and probably lowered their overall ratings. So now they are trying to put Naruto back where it was hoping it would be like it used to be.

Toonami also has the habit of putting shows at the front of the block when they start but moving them back when they get another new show. Gundam IBO was moved back for One Punch Man for instance. The back is more for the older shows and reruns, and the number of reruns has expanded over my time observing this. Naruto could have just been put there temporarily while they were waiting to get another show, all while airing something they already aired but still have the rights for.

Ok this isn't super relevant but I did watch the TFS play dragonball advance adventure part four they talk about Boruto...also since they record this stuff way in advance they mentioned how they thought the samurai would have been more important a day or two before kishi revealed his new manga about cyborg samurai...anyways. Apparently Lani, and Grant watched Boruto separately but they both had the same opinion and stopped watching roughly at the same time. They thought the movie fight was well animated, didn't care about fat filler's little arc, and stop watching by the time the current arc got into the snake sage nonsense. They found some of the anime stories generic, and hoped they aren't canon...technically everything the anime is doing is canon. They don't like the fact the power up the previous generation had to risk their lives to obtain is just being causally given to Bolt's generation with no effort.

I'm bringing this up because it is very rare to find people talking about Boruto, and they genuinely come off as causal fans of Naruto.

Yeah that is very true actually. You rarely find individuals that are casual fans of Naruto AND can talk about "Boruto" objectively. they are usually either pro-enders that kiss the feet of SP for making their dream of banging Hinata vicariously come true soo the writing is fictional media-gold, or you know just troll the kitten out of the series. Obviously those that still follow the series and can view thing objectively are very few now

Or at least few people that will actually talk about it online. There are still people like those two that still watch Boruto simply because it the sequel to Naruto; not because their pairing won, or bile fascination. The part I find most important was they were just using it to fill dead-air but it quickly became clear they saw the same problems in the anime also they stopped watching at roughly the same time for the same reason, and agreed with each other instantly when one of brought up a problem. To me, this shows more of the problems the anime has then any grouchy recap I could do.

After the chunin exam copying the movie increased the level of quality of the anime for that arc both help and hurt the anime by raising fans standards for the series. For some like the people like the ones kagomaru talks to; it convinced them to stick around since the anime should eventually reach that level again. For others like the Lani and Grant; it gave them blue balls, made the lower quality stories that come after even more unimpressive to them to the point they got tired of it, and drop the series all together out of disappointment. Since, that arc may be the peak quality Boruto will ever reach, and with the manga slow pace as well as the lower quality of writing in both the anime and the manga. How long will it take for the audience to get tried of the story lower quality after the chunin exam?
