Don't forget that he's frequently insulted his former co-workers - Ian Flynn in particular - over on social media to the point where they've had him blocked, and even subtly encouraged his own fanbase to harass them until the blow-up became too big that he had to step in and end the mess he started.  He's a real piece of work.   It's also a shame that Sonic Brotherhood was retconned from Sonic's proper game canon and never got a sequel since it tied into plot threads set up from Sonic Battle and Sonic Advance 3.

 

Yeah, thank you for mentioning Penders' jealousy over Ian because I forgot about that. It's the reason Ian cannot say anything for his Lost Hedgehog Tales on what would had happened if the reboot didn't happened.  I would like to mention after the legal battles, he tries to talk to the previous writers so he can use their characters in his project. That didn't work. Although, there is another writer that did the same BS Penders did: Scott Fulop (he created Mammoth Mogul and the Fearsome Foursome). That dude is currently trying the same thing Penders doing now, with a website and merchandise.    

 

Yes, Sonic Chronicles was unfortunately never mentioned again after 2008/09, despite how it was tied to not only Sonic Battle and Sonic Advance 3, for the continuation of Emerl/Gemerl's storyline but also tied to the Sonic Adventure games. And since BioWare was bought out by EA in 2010, the sequel plans were scrapped. Poor Shade couldn't be in future games, but I would say this: she's not = to Julie-Su.

From what I have searched up about the Ken Penders scandal at Archie Comics, Sega decided to set some rules that comic writers were not allowed to do with Sonic from now on due to association with Ken Penders. These Include:

• Sonic is not allowed to cry (not sure if this applies to other Sonic characters other than Sonic)
• Sonic can never lose.
• There can only be one Mecha Sonic (I assume it also mean no mecha of other characters
• No Comic writers are allowed to make relatives of the game characters(which resulted in Uncle Chuck no longer being Sonic's biological Uncle)
• No romance between the characters (The only exception I saw was bonnie and antoine, but yeah no Sonic x Sally/Amy/anyone and no Knuckles and Julie-Su or whoever else. Not sure if this is Comics only, because I know Sonic Boom teased Sonic and Amy a lot and Tail even got a girlfriend in an episode)

I also heard that Ken Penders also killed the chance of Sonic Satam Third Season story from ever being told when Writer Ben Hurst try to convince Sega to do a movie based on the story ideas for the 3rd season, but Ken Penders got involved and apparently said something to Sega that lead to them to turning it down saying they lead sonic projects leading to Hurst saying this:

The Movie Penders was working on was called Sonic Armageddon, which only had 4 concept art and a really teaser trailer with Penders own kids in it.

According to IDW and Boom writers, Sonic Team allows them to hint at romance between the game characters, but not to be too explicit about it or allow them to actually date.

Those are the mandates for Archie Sonic at the time.  I go into detail:

1) That one is obvious towards Sonic only. Because we had one scene from Ian's Mobius 25 Years Later with Sonic balling out (and also one of those covers where the story was Sally was force to marry Antoine (when he was actually Patch from Anti-Moebius).

2) Obviously, because he must beat Eggman all the time 

3) SEGA wants Metal Sonic relevant, that's all there is (despite the other models)

4) That was because Penders added all of those relatives to the main characters and it was too much, especially with Knuckles.  Note: that it doesn't applies to Cream and Vanilla.

5) Excluded Antoine and Bunnie, SEGA is fine with teasing but don't go fully into the romance and dates. Although: we did got the creation of a Yuri ship: SallyXNicole.

 

Yeah, the Sonic Armageddon pitch. Ben Hurst was turning in his grave (he died around 2003?) when Penders started that mess. Thank God SEGA turned him down. But you know he had the audacity to make the cover of the Sonic SatAM Complete series DVD.

Before I got super weary about shipping thanks to Naruto's conclusion, there was one OTP during 2012 that I've patiently kept my eye on after I saw the anime, and while we haven't reached the full confirmation yet... the feels I got from this... 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Rin Okumura x  Shiemi   - Blue Exorcist 

 

 

 

 

Kazue Kato did an amazing job slow-burning through Shiemi's feelings for Rin in the series, but the payoff was totally worth it when thinking back to all past moments.  All that remains is one final stride before they officially become canon, but god I've waited so long to see her finally admit how she really feels. Now all that remain is her reunion with Rin. 

 

 

ps - I should say Shiemi actually had a few similarities to Sakura where she had a crush on Rin's younger brother Yukio, but as the series progressed those feelings shifted to our boy Rin.

Same.  And her development in the recent chapters when she faced off against Amaimon proves just how much are our girl has grown.  I can't wait until the manga resumes in April (and jeez, according Kazue, we're only past the halfway point of the series).

It's a bit off-topic but I will post it here because it's tied to the BS with Ken Penders and Archie Sonic:

 

Recently, there was drama a month ago when someone decided to pay a license for Scourge from Penders to create a comic book series based on the character. Guys, it was popcorn-worthy drama. Shorten version: Fans got hit towards it because the owner of the comic book was into some right-wing politics BS, then they trashing the series and less than a few days after the announcement, the team that was working on the comic cancelled it. Then I found some teen drama with Penders involved. 

 

Oh and its been a decade, he still hadn't release the Lara-Su Chronicles. Meanwhile, Ian Flynn made history as he's writing the upcoming Sonic Frontiers game. I know hearing that news is having Penders pissed off and dying on the inside!  (and making BS about not only Flynn but also Tracy Yardey in Twitter.)

You should read the novels and the manga as well.  There are several more shipping moments that the anime left out in this season (also, there was a  scene that was omitted where they shared a bed for the first time and the moment was getting rather...explicit until they were interrupted by Al, the elven child that they were caretaking).

Indeed they omitted the scene and I think they even created that scene to do it because I remember they did it when they went to the lake. 

 

Question. This I didn't see it in manga or maybe I don't remember ( They made love) I was waiting for the confession that later I left it alone since they were implying  then I saw in the Anime.

So, Sonic Frontiers has more or less dropped the ambiguity in Sonic and Amy's relationship and made it clear that he definitely reciprocates her feelings.  Especially when he states that he wished that he made his mind up sooner in regards to their relationship and wanted to share an umbrella with her (as seen in the bottom video).

 

 

 

 

This also falls in line with what Naka, Oshima and Iizuka have stated in the past about how Sonic couldn't properly express his feelings for Amy openly because he had the "heart of a boy" and wouldn't be ready for a serious commitment until he was older and more emotionally mature. Since Sega aged the characters up in Frontiers and stated that they wanted to give the characters and series a more mature appeal for older audiences going forward, Sonic's finally accepted how he feels about her. Of course, whether Sega will officially allow them to date now is the question.

To be specific, they never stated that romance itself was prohibited. Only that the characters weren't allowed to be *too* overt in expressing romantic affection and that they couldn't date(as we've seen in the IDW comics and Boom). Personally, I think Sega is just ready to move on from that debacle at this point, especially since it's been well over a decade since they created that mandate.  I also wouldn't be surprised if Flynn himself may have had a hand in convincing them.

I cant wait until Sonic finally gets together with Amy. Number 1 ship for me. I got to finish playing the game. Love the slow development between them over the years.
