Fist of Legend - 10/10

Took me ages to find a copy of this movie with non-dub and Chinese subtitles. The dubbed versions were horrible to watch, because the voices ruin the action scenes. Jet Li again does an excellent job playing Chen Zhen, a disciple of the late Huo Yuan Jia. He does his action scenes flawlessly and his martial arts still never ceases to amaze me. I recommend this to all martial arts film lovers.

Interesting tidbit, Sammo Hung did the fight choreography for both films. ^^

Maybe I'd agree if Ip Man wasn't a real live person.

First of all, Im aware this is based off of the guy who taught Bruce Lee.

You just didn't get my reference. It's referencing the fact that Donnie Yen is unhappy with and doesn't want to do the Yip man films any more. Just like the two Obi-wans didn't like being in their respective Star Wars.

He hated that everything was blue screen, and having absolutely nothing to play off of in scenes with no humans. He made his hate known for this, and his annoyance in returning, during the filming of clone wars.

Yeah, that makes sense. Which sucks because I really enjoyed him as Obi-Wan. Looks like George Lucas really should get out more, Peter Jackson made it work!

So, giving some life to this old thread, here's Donnie Yen's new film. Same character was played by Jet Li and Bruce Lee on Fist of Legend and Fist of Fury respectively. Awesome trailer.

LOL @ the Kato reference. Funnily enough, with this movie, all 3 of them will have played 2 similar characters (Chen Zhen, "Kato").

Anybody have any good recommendations? I've seen Both Ip-man movies, and Chocolate as of lately.

Having Gigi Leung on the movie is a plus. Gigi Leung = wub.gif

I just saw John Woo's Battle of Red Cliff on Netflix. Holy crap! It's so good. It's like watching Dynasty Warriors, only with more excellent acting and drama. The end, especially, it's comparable to watching Saving Private Ryan's Normandy sequence, only Chinese...and with Martial Arts...and explosive catapults and arrows, and Zhao Yun.
