also in regards to the bad writing in tri, the turning the sovereigns into the first digidestined's partners is much worse than that, when you think about the reason they are called the sovereigns, its not just because they are these 4 holy ancient digimon, they are literal sovereigns of the different quadrants of the digital world, each connected to a different earth, which means tri contradicts 02 and tamers, because tamers had Zhuqiaomon, its not an alternate version of him either.  not only that but 02 and tamers were connected through the wonder swan games through ryo and ryo is from the 02 world. the anime even has the cameos of ryo in both 02 and the our war game movie, so you can't just retcon the whole lore of them without contradicting adventure, 02, and tamers.

 

geez this is as bad as what power rangers dino charge did with its ending. the preventing the meteor that killed the dinosaurs causing there to be modern dinosaur zoos was dumb enough, but it goes downhill when you realize the meteor is what held the power rangers dino thunder dino gems that tommy and the others found, so bam, dino thunder retconned. they had to rewrite it to where dino charge was an alternate dimension in the canon to save face.

 

heck I think even the subplot with her partner in the dark ocean contradicts because none of the sovereigns could have died, otherwise they couldn't have met ryo in the wonderswan games.

 

no wonder the trailers for the new movie ignore tri lol

 

 

notice how it shows scenes from adventure and 02 but no tri? I'm doubtful of tri supposedly doing good in japan if they aren't even acknowledging tri in a trailer like this that's an anniversary trailer that shows the past series. on the other hand its showing the megas from tri, so 'shrug'

Well. If they're ignoring tri then that is a hypocritical lie that this movie is a sequel to tri. that will explain any plot holes from the tri. movies. So that's it then, I'm not bothering with this "nostalgia baiting" anymore. I was only watching if they made a good story, but clearly that is not what they are going for. they are just "cash grabbing" from old fans because nothing new is working for them

Eh, it literally costs me nothing to watch this new movie, so I don't mind being being baited. And if it takes Tri out of continuity, all the better.

Yeah it costs you nothing, except your time! XD but in all seriousness. logicaly speaking they put in the effort to to making the tri. movies as a sequel to the Digimon adventure continuity but if they are ignoring that then that means that even they acknowledge that the writing in those movies was a dis-servicing farce. The intent was that it was about the crew "growing up " but all that did was cause "angsty whining" that took over the plot and the shipping was to lure old fans back in like a honey trap because nothing came out of it. So, either way I see another trap coming from a mile away, because just like my gut feeling with Tri. and obviously with the fact that this new project is another movie, there won't be much done or explained in it.

 

But don't mind me. If you're excited for it, then good and go for it, I won't stop you. it is just my personal opinion

Oh no, I get it. I'm sick of the nostalgia-baiting myself and I'm not criticizing your opinion at all, I'm just expressing that in my case, I've just numbed myself to disappointment by this point and am just bemused by it all. It's why the idea of Hatsune Miku being a Digidestined in this movie only makes me laugh rather than feeling aggravated at this obvious ploy for a cash grab by Sega and Toei. Besides, knowing that Toei acknowledges Tri as a mistake and trying remove it from the series' canon, earns a bit of my respect since it proves that they give a crap about the opinions of fans. Unlike a certain other anime studio that would rather quadruple down than acknowledge that their obsession ruined an entire franchise beyond recognition.

the only thing that would remotely make me interested, is if they actually involve milleniummon in some way, since tri seemed to ignore the fact the dark spores came from milleniummon in the first place, he created all the digidestined villains and the dark spore of ken came from him when ryo and ken defeated him that one time in the wonderswan games. he orchestrated everything in adventure and 02 so he should at least be referenced, even if he's still sealed inside cyberdramon in the tamers world. otherwise its just gonna be some new convoluted plot they pulled out of their butts again that retcons the story further.

What I also wanted from tri. was not to have things be more convoluted for the sake of nostalgia and to actually fix some of the mistakes that were made in 02, but they couldn't even do that and just kept adding more and more to it. Maybe a reboot of Adventure should be done to make things easier.

Yeah. Plus a lot of mysticism is lost with the idea of the Sovereigns being partners to previous DigiDestined/Tamers too rather than just being these highly evolved and potent Digimon they were hinted at when Davis and his team met Azulongmon after BlackWarGreymon began his quest to destroy the Destiny Stones.

There was so much potential with the first half of tri. I was hoping they were setting up the establishment of the Royal Knights and the Seven Great Demon Lords in the Adventures time finally, but nope...never goes anywhere...everything they potentially set up is just thrown out the window for...nothing.

You'd have to actually watch the ending to even begin to fathom how bad it was. Unfortunately, just describing it doesn 't give any impact on how atrocious it was. The only saving Grace was the new Omegamon/Omnimon form change but that that not erase how terrible the writing was

I feel like digimon franchise is a lost cause at this point the original japanese hipster director left because he dosen't like the direction the franchise is heading towards. Not only that he rather kitten and moan about the failure of his sorato pairing in his twitter account because people keep asking why taiora never became a thing. He comes off as too prideful and petty from what i saw from him he rather point the blame to the audience and the writers but not himself. What a kittening pretentious jerk.

Well Tri was hate in this side, but it seems in Japan was loved. Tri was one of the top 3 in the mini theaters.
