So, this week, I found a couple of great gems. Two ads that I remember seeing as a kid that gave me a brief window into the fantastic world of anime

I saw these commercials just before seeing some of the more mainstream anime that hit the states such as DBZ, Sailor Moon and Pokemon. I was amazed and these commercials stuck with me and made me want to see more. Even when I started seeing some of the stuff that was shown on, say, Toonami, I knew there was much more intense stuff out there.

What I think is really interesting is to look at how it was marketed back then, though. Anime was such a niche thing back then and the only way to get access was to get a glimpse on TV or rent/buy VHS tapes. Not that anime is incredibly popular now, but it has a foothold outside of Japan. Back then, it was kinda mysterious and added to the intrigue.

Anyone else have any nostalgic memories about when they first saw anime?

Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo / The Kindaichi Case Files

I'm downloading recently the original anime and the two seasons released in 2014  - 2016 ' The Kindaichi Case Files R '. It's an old manga still ongoing since 1992. A Detective fiction, Mystery and Horror type anime. It's not for children. It's for adults. The original anime has 148 episodes XD

I remember watching it on Manga TV channel when I was 11 or 12 years old, and it had horror suspense and mature contents. It's definitely nostalgic for me.

Also, Digimon Seasons 1, 2, 3 and 4 - Pokemon Seasons 1 and 2.

You knew that I was going to post this and besides of Nostalgia I can promote my favorite series.

Also known as Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac or simply Knights of the Zodiac, is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Masami Kurumada. It was serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump from 1986 to 1990, with the chapters collected into 28 tankōbon volumes by Shueisha. The story follows five mystical warriors called the "Saints" (聖闘士セイントSeinto?, or "Knights" in some adaptations) who fight wearing sacred armors named "Cloths" (聖衣クロス Kurosu?), the designs of which derive from the various constellations the characters have adopted as their destined guardian symbols, and empowered by a mystical energy called "Cosmo" (小宇宙コスモ Kosumo?). The Saints have sworn to defend the reincarnation of the Greek goddess Athenain her battle against other Olympian gods who want to dominate Earth.

Project A-ko sure brings back memories. I watched both movies so many times I never get tire of watching them. I wish they make a new movie or a reboot.

On the topic of first animes, this was the intro for the first one I ever watched:

New Dominion Tank Police, it was pretty wild.

I have to say, there are plenty of solid anime series these days, but late 80s and early 90s have a charm to them that I really like. They're a bit unique and less, how do I say it, glossy than today's anime.
