And yet those games were just to either HYPE UP  the story of KH III or expand on and explain the story to lead up to KH III. They were not continuations of the story that fans wanted so it IS still technically waiting thirteen years for the plot to continue. It was the game's ending that fans were disappointed by and were vocal about correct? That is why. It was not like they were ragging on the game because they waited so long for a KH game in general to come out or that the gameplay sucked. They HATED that they waited thirteen years for the story to continue and then end in a way that they did not expect or want because they were going in with super high expectations of the continuation of KH's story as I've said. I'd surprised if anyone WAS complaining about the game play since  the core game mechanics are relatively the same   

But the story hasn't ended though. This is just another game in a chain of games.

Don't see it as bad. See it as the set up for the next part which it is. We have known for a long time that KH3 wouldn't be the last game.

Yeah I know I'm just explaining why some would be disappointed in the ending. Obviously it's not the end, but after all this time, like I said, some did not have their expectations met having waited this long for this particular game to come out. That's all. I can't say what my reaction will be since I haven't started yet, but I'll be as fair and objective as I can be

No. The comparison is disproportionate and it marginalizes just how badly Kishi screwed up with Sakura's character and her relationship with Naruto. Sora and Kairi's bond and relationship is respected and treated as a focal point throughout the series and culminates into what we have by the game's ending. Hell, she is what gives him the power and resolve to do what needs to be done by the end. Her importance to him is never undervalued or vice versa. And Kairi getting taken out is not a mark against the character since she *did* get some action, it just emphasizes how inexperienced she is compared to everyone else since this was her first real battle. As I said before, she will only improve later on, especially now that she has even more motivation to do so after what happens to Sora. So her potential will still get the exploration she deserves in future games. Compare that to Sakura, who had all her progressive character development and her relationship with Naruto thrown to the wayside, her role as the main heroine usurped, her personality reset, putting her in a toxic one-sided relationship and her bond with Naruto re-interpreted as a farce based solely on self-interest just to allow an overly hyped minor character to be the love interest. Heck, if Nomura really was like Kishi,he would rewritten it so that Sora would've decided that he loved Aqua instead since she's more popular and Sora did save her, despite the fact that they barely know each other and disregard all of the evidence shown in the games that Sora only loves Kairi. Or listened to the vocal fans that wanted Sora to be with Riku, but as we see, that isn't the case.

I can understand that Kairi not getting much action may have disappointed you and some fans, but comparing it to Sakura's utter assassination of character and purpose? No way, it's not even a contest. Especially since Kairi's character arc is just starting while Sakura's reached its dismal end.

And you know what? Like the Naruto ending, I've been looking at SoKai fanart and fanfics but unlike Naruto, at least SoKai is canon.

My thoughts: Good and Bad

Maybe this time... they will kiss.

 

There's a decent chance what's in that cutscene is about as far as it's ever going to go. It's a Japanese game, after all, and culturally things like PDA and kisses are generally seen as "behind closed doors" things over there, which translates to the media as well. I suspect that's why the "indirect kiss" is such a prevalent thing. I'm actually trying to think of the last time I saw a kiss in a Japan made piece of entertainment and I'm drawing a complete blank; I'm sure examples exist and that I've even seen them, but hell if I can remember one right now.

 

Not trying to be a downer, I just think keeping the culture that made it in mind is good for tempering expectations. Honestly, given the lore and world of Kingdom Hearts, what they did there is probably a lot more meaningful anyway.

I just played a couple hours of KH3, finishing off Mount Olympus and (just my thoughts and reactions):
 

Spoilers!

1) SORA HAS A PHONE LOL, INSTAGRAM AND EVERYTHING. SHOOK.
2) I never knew Ratatouille was in here OMG!!! This makes this game INFINITELY better to me, one of my favorite movies ever 
3) Flawless graphics, smoother than butter holy moly. Like you can literally see the texture of their skin, eyelashes, their hair, stitches of their clothes!! 
4) OSTs sound like they're straight from a FF game. Love it, it's more dramatic and intense, a nice shift instead of the tuney soundtracks in KH2!
5) Fights are awesome so far, so flashy and spectacular!! And the mini-games are challenging too, which I love! (Or maybe cause I set it on Proud mode lol)
 
6) My only issue so far is concerning the dialogue. At times it feels kinda forced? Maybe itll change once I progress into the game more

This just gave me a ton of anxiety so I googled the ending (because I love a good spoiler) and it absolutely broke my heart. Why Nomura... :^( now I'll be dead by time KH4 comes out

Besides the fact that the Kingdom Hearts series hasn't ended yet do you know the difference between this and the Naruto ending?

The Naruto ending pissed me off while Kingdom Hearts III's ending made me cry.

One thing I don't get... Why is Hinata is a "Good heroine" while Kairi is "useless." Yeah I know she hasn't done much but like Kagomaru said, She's not experienced while Hinata had years and years of training yet  she's done nothing. You take her off and the story's the same. You take off Kairi and the story is different. Kairi is the light to Sora's heart. So why do we like Kairi yet hate Hinata?

Also want to point out that for a newbie Keyblade wielder, she's not too bad.

If you noticed that during the cutscene in the Keyblade Graveyard where Sora is deciding which group of friends he wants to help, if you look towards Axel/Kairi's team, we see Kairi briefly pulling off some slick moves against Xion and is even pushing her back. Plus, in gameplay, it looks like Kairi not only learned the basic spells, but she learned how to use Mickey and Sora's Faith spell.

So, even as a rookie, she comes off more impressive than Hinata as a combatant.

Ok so. I think my expectations were high, which is kinda my fault honestly. I finished the game.

 

I'm not that deep into the fandom, just a casual gamer who fell in love with the Destiny Island trio and Sora's charming and heartfelt interactions with Disney characters.

 

But I think KH3 is geared toward dedicated, non-casual fans whose waited so patiently and played every single one of the games and maybe googled a couple theories, and that's okay. I've skipped out on the mobile game and DDD because I didn't think they were important—which turned out to be quite the opposite, esp near the end, which confused me a lot.

 

my thoughts on the good & bad

I finished the game, and it turned out to be a solid 7/10 for me.

 

The good was with the visuals and gameplay:

• The graphics were spectacular. How it smoothly transitions from a cutscene to battle without losing it's quality is incredible. You can see how eerily real life the characters are in The Caribbean. Technology has made major leaps in just a decade, truly amazing!

• The worlds were much more expansive than I thought. The Caribbean was hella expansive, and the details were spot on. Arendelle surprised me the most, it was fantastic and the final boss there was the one I enjoyed fighting the most.

• Gameplay was good, it felt like a holiday with all the sparkles and blasts. Tangled keyblade was by far my favorite, and the Attractions was addicting! (The bosses were more on the easy side though.)

• I didn't think I'd like the gummi phone as much as I did lol. I took so many pictures, it was really neat.

 

The problems for me lied in the storytelling and atmosphere:

• The cutscenes were so long and painful to bare. And the voice acting had the feel like the actors themselves knew nothing about what was going on, which affected the smoothness. The only time where I felt that the dialogue really landed was when it was lifted off the movies.

• Now the storyline. I mentioned that I didn't play everything they'd pushed out, but even so there was just... so much going on? A million ends to resolve that it just got all tangled up and made no sense in the end. Like the feeling of "whose this guy? I thought he was that guy!" and "what's the goal again?" stayed with me the entire time.

• And they really damsel'd Kairi didn't they. After all that "training" with Lea she just held her keyblade and took a few swipes and that was it. Got kidnapped and killed again then saved by Sora who ended up god knows where to. Wow. Greatest disappointment for me by far.

 

Like I love this series but it also disappoints and confuses me, sighhh
