I'm watching the episodes night of 1000 stars right now, the next is harmonic convergence.

I will say this, where this season was going pretty slow, this one episode puts everything into great motion, it goes from slow to epic and I cannot believe this is all in one night.

Okay the finale was good, I liked it. While it was a nice one this left some good and bad things for a finale but it left some perplexing moments and well it had its good, bad, funny, and ugly parts.

 

The Good

Loved the epic clash between Korra and Unaloq
4 elemental defense from Mako, Bolin, Tenzin, and Kya
Monster style fight with Korra and Unaloq fused with Vaatu
Lots of focus on who you are and and not trying to be someone else.
The plot felt tensionous and was better than the situation with Amon. Korra losing Raava for a moment felt almost like a repeat of when Amon got her, but the writers thankfully this time had a good plot element in about how Raava and Vaatu could never truely be destroyed, they are eternal forces made up of light and peace and darkess and chaos respectively.
Had its funny moments with Verrick and Bolin, the comedy was great this time.

Has potential for a good third season with the spirit portals left open, now Korra can live with her choices to see if freeing the spirits was a good idea. This is similar to the events in the promise in which Aang tells Roku that the union of people from nations is different from what was set in Rokus time. As Aangs time passed, now Korra has decided to no longer be a bridge but a protector of humanity, letting humans and spirits to build that bridge themselves.

Can this new energy in the world actually impact other people?

Aang came to Tenzin to show him not to be like him, that Tenzin should follow his own path.

The writers did a good job connecting some questions like whatever happened to Zhao, seeing him in the spirit fog was a suprise and a good connection to the past series. We see he was thrown in the spirit jail ever since season 1 of aangs journey ended long ago, after 7 years.

 

The Bad

Korra losing her connections to her past lives is like wiping the slate clean, guess we will never see Aang again.
Again a little too convinent for her save, I give her a pass with finding Raava in Unaloq fused with Vaatu as Raava once told Wan that she exists within him as he exists within her. I feel Jinorias sudden find Raava power was misplaced though, I mean, where did her ability to find Raava suddenly come from?
Must be a terrible time to be a Mako-Korra shipper as they just ended it for good, guess the creators just don't want any fire-water bending romance. But hey they unlike Naruto, these creators actually do mess with their fanbase, glad I do not ship anything in Avatar.

Things just seemed too convenient for Korra's own "inner spirit" to awaken to allow her to go all godzilla on Unaloq. This one had a sense of too convenient in her getting her own power to face Unaloq but also it provided an issue where if she didn't get Raava back, then the cycle of the avatar would have ended.

This arc was not fully resolved. As Vaatu cannot be killed, does this mean the creators have a way to create future anti-powered foes for the future? Should they do a follow up series with an earth avatar does this mean they can just insert Vaatu in with any new person if the dark avatar has its own cycle now?

 

The ugly

Did Korra actually kill Unaloq? I mean this is a show for young people but Nickelodeon has a rule against outright killing people in their shows, I mean yes Amon as did Jet in the original series, but those were offscreen. Unaloq was killed on screen, guess korra committed murder.
Can we please get a non-water bending villian in Korra's time? Seriously all villians in this avatar series are water benders, I mean yes Aang had to face the entire fire nation and some earth kingdom guys, but his villians were varied. Why is it that in Korra's time all the villians are water tribe? Guess the fire nation in Aangs time were softies compared to the 70 years later water tribe.

Im not thrilled about how some people are going to react to the pairing stuff in this show, I don't follow avatar pairing stuff cause, its too obvious, as I said in season 1, its the start of a series, you know its not going to be smooth sailing, I said there would be trouble in Mako and Korras relationship, there was, well look now. These guys write romance but its just too obvious. Now with the Mako Korra fans screaming their heads off as another Zutara, I fear something like this will happen in Naruto if Sakura gets over Sasuke and in NH if Naruto just stays friends with Hinata or Hinata respects narutos choice of Sakura, its going to cause a massive wave of upsetness like tonight for those fans.

 

All in all, while this was a decent season, it had its high points and low points, Verrick was a funny guy, a new era begins, just wonder what the writers will do from this point forward and how will season 3 go, ultimately how will season 4 come out when Korra's journey ends. Her series is stated for 51 episodes. 13 coming next season. With a new arc and new story, I hope we see more varirity this time. Well, heres to next fall. Lets see what lies in wait for Korra, Mako, Tenzin, and so on next year.

they still think its another zutara huh how funny well i don't they will get back together down the road but moving on from that i really enjoyed her and tenzin's character growth the bond between master and student was repaired i also liked the epic fight between her and unalaq that battle was truly awesome i also liked how jinora stepped in to help out and the team work with mako bolin desna and eska

Well as I said, avatar makes the romance just too obvious, even at the end of season 1, it was only the start of the series. Just cause Mako and Korra were together at the end of the first season didnt mean smooth sailing for another 3.

 

Pairing fans will be crying but this is why I choose not to ship anything in avatar, its just too obvious and maybe a bigger bloodbath than Naruto. Even then, the way it was ended, it obviously leaves both the possibly of them going back together again once more mature or its a done deal and makorra is dead in the dirt. The way they did this is so that its left those shipping makorra, just obviously it has a future or it doesn't even with the ending this season. At this point, even if it does come back I honestly would not be surprised. Mako and Korra have had impacts on each other and the writers have used fluctuating relationships many times even in the last airbender series. Theres no suprise that something would come up again between Mako and Korra, but the extent of it being done or not is something left waiting to be revealed. Otherwise the writers are just obviously going to stick Mako with Asaumi, just having a spare one right then and there, ya know, too convinent? Least this alt setup has had development unlike NH in Naruto. Where ATLA was more direct with love, the writers are outright tormenting the poor pairing fans with this one. I mean sheesh, it was obvious this season there would be issues between Mako and Korra, but the nature of the writers and just having another pairing for Mako, its just too obvious, either Mako-Korra resurfaces later when they are more mature or they have a shared conflict again like the equalists or its just going to be Mako-Asaumi. Both of these vary however when other new characters come in.

 

But this is why I don't ship anything in avatar, its too obvious and its just a web of torment, people think Naruto pairing is intense? The manga team in naruto doesn't go out of their way to do stuff like the avatar team does, in naruto the anime and spin-off/other media teams do but that is just filler, hell thats why the avatar writers took potshots at the Zutara crowd in the ember island players. Maybe the end of Makorra this season was just in spirit again them hating zutara? As I said, either Makorra comes back later or its just Mako and Asaumi. The writers make this too obvious but they arn't going to go the full simple open route way either, obviously Mako-Asaumi cannot just happen and should have its own issues as plots move on, but seriously, the base point is the avatar writers really stink at trying to keep love suspenseful, its wide open and either something happens or it doesn't.

 

Seriously, unlike Naruto's wiki or pairings wiki, the avatar wiki actually has a page dedicated to shipping. While it seems peaceful, there is a lot of blood underneath all that text.

Overall the second half of Book 2 has saved this entire series. At least that's what I think since before it was an okay series but not as good as ATLA but now it is on track to be as good if not better. I really am happy that they fixed Korra since before this she wasn't much of an Avatar well not a good one, however now she is really good and worthy of having the Avatar title. So long as they keep developing Korra and the rest of Team Avatar, book 3 and 4 will be really good if not amazing. 

Ep 11-14 thoughts

I really enjoyed these last 4 episodes, well the second half of this book overall was nothing short of brilliant they changed around Korra's character, I'd say at the expense of the rest of Team Avatar and mainly Mako. But oh well I'd much rather Korra getting the development her character needs and should have had way back as book 1.

 

It was awesome that Bolin had a chance to shine and they provided good development for Tenzin. Jinora will probably some sort of a bigger role in the next book as she has been really great so far, I really like Bumi's character I find him similar to Sokka. Also I liked the small links to ATLA such as seeing Commander Zhao again I found that scene really funny.

 

Also the finale has left open lots of possibilities for the next two books so they should be really interesting if done right which I think will be the case. Sigh... It's going to be a long wait though, apparently next fall is when Book 3 is going to be released.

Let me start by saying I despise the Nick.com video player. Almost every minute the video would have to buffer. I watch hour long videos all the time on YouTube and never have an issue, but watching a 20 minute video on Nick.com gave me trouble all the time. So frustrating.

 

Anyways, that was a good way to end the season, I enjoyed the final battle, the animation was flawless. The writers seem to have improved the series, mainly a lot of the issues people were having with it, over time, which was also nice. I still have problems with this season and the series overall, but this was pretty good.

 

I don't know about living with the spirits, though. It will be all fine and good until that giant spider comes into the living world and starts throwing it's web at people .

I didn't see the finale yet, but regarding episodes 11 and 12: In the first season I kind of liked Bolin, even though he was lacking in development, but I have to say he's kind of getting on my nerves, I don't know why but I'm just not liking him at all. And, Mako... just Mako, Korra comes back and can't remember their fight and rather than telling her the truth he just plays it off as if it wasn't a big deal, and completely throws Asami to the wayside.  Poor girl just keeps on getting used. On a side note, Bumi reminds me very nostalgically of Sokka, and while Verrick may be a 'bad guy', I love him, he's hilariously eccentric and devious and he always seems to steal the show when he's around.

First of all, I overall enjoyed it. Janet Varney, Korra's voice actor is officially my favourite. And I love Korra with her hair down.

Bumi, Sokka and Bolin

People seem to be comparing Bumi to Sokka; What was so great about Sokka was that he could be the goofy character, and when kitten comes, he puts on his serious face, gets better and better at fighting and makes impressive strategies. When you can make someone dumb and smart at the same time, you have a good character. Bumi is in the same mood all the time. He has one dimension and that is funny. Although there was one scene, when he talked to Aang's statue and said he hoped he made him proud - I would've liked to see more of that side of him. But he really just seems like he's lucky, he's put under the right circumstances who just happens to succeed. There was no strategies and no fighting abilities. I would've given him that. And a serious face. I don't blame it on the voice actors, because they have to adjust their voices to the animation. And is it really weird Tenzin didn't listen to Bumi? I wouldn't take him seriously either.

 

Same with Bolin. When he said "Korra just left a week ago!" his voice and face should've not been comedic. His reactions to Makorra too. I don't like those kind of characters, they are not colourful or insightful. You grow tired of the one personalitytrait they have, especially when they are so loud.

 

Lin and Varrick

Lin should've apologized to Mako, Asami too. I'm glad Bolin did. Aang should've met his other kids as well, they have even bigger issues than Tenzin! I kinda hoped he would be the one to guide them to Jinora. <3 I like her. She should've been the Avatar. She is a half-blood Avatar though, close enough I guess? I would've liked to see more explanation on how she managed to save Korra. I know she is Aang's granddaughter and they are more powerful(the reason Ursa married Ozai), but what was that exactly?

 

Varrick. I wonder how Lin knew it was him? Did she suddenly realize Mako was right all along?

I didn't like the Varrick ending. He disappointed me. He wasn't the evil mastermind I thought he was. I believed he was two-faced and the goofy personality was just an act he put on to mask it. And Zhu Li really is a robot. Her purpose is to give Varrick more personality, so he has someone to pick on.

 

Asami, and the romance

Asami. Oh god. She really looked hurt when Korra kissed Mako. I liked her first reaction, but not her second one. Like she was thinking "jerk, Mako!". Not angry enough! I'm not blaming her that she didn't bring it up later, she was clever and focused on the war. But then this should've happend earlier. (actually it should've never happened, but I digress. )

 

I liked the romance ending. BolinxEska was great, and Makorra too. I'm glad one show finally admits that just because you love eachother doesn't mean you mesh well. It was bittersweet.  Thumbs up for that one.

 

It all ended too fast though. The final battle reminded me of Ozai vs. Aang, and Giant Korra got me back to Aang's sea-spirit-monster in season one. The fight should've been a bit shorter and left more conclusion to the characters. It left me clueless of some parts, but I suppose that will draw me to book 3. Clever, Bryke. The stake..

Does Korra's separation will her past lives mean the Avatar cycle truly is broken? :( Forever? Oooh..please no season 3 must deal with that. And I don't think Wan's decision to close ther portals were wrong. I think both of them made the right decision under their circumstances. The world isn't as hateful to spirits as they were.

Varrick escaped and I think we can expect him to return. This season has more opening than last season. Then again, season 1 is like a prologue when you think about it. Season 1 left nothing open. Here, it does as well as what's next in the new lifestyle.

It's worth noting in a way at least to me is how can they top this in term of scale. Dark Avatar is like equivalent to Rikudou Sennin Obito. It somewhat makes me wonder.

Wow so much happened in these four finally episodes I think I might just like them more the the Sozin's comment final, have to think about that though. Watching just about 4 episodes of Korra together has me convinced you need to see alot together like with the Naruto chapters to get the full impact and enjoyment.

 

Anyway so much nostalgia Iroh, Aang and even Zhao, I guess he got a fitting punishment for what he did with the spirits.

Bolin was back I knew we had to wait for the good part for him to come.

Varrick still love him, I wonder if we will see him again though as a good guy or bad?

Wow Ign reviewer was right on the Dark Avatar thing, loved every minute of the fights.

Man I don't want Korra's connection with the other Avatars to go away I want to see her and Aang talk more, but I guess it would be interesting to see how she would solve problems with asking for advice from her past life.

Nice to see Aang give Tenzin some advice, kinda of wish all the his kids could see him but oh well.

Knew the Twins would turn good.

 

Well I'm done with shipping in the world of Avatar except Kataang, then again I didn't really care much for pairs in the legend of Korra. Man the writters know how to tease the Pairing fandoms, it defiantly gonna be worse than Naruto now. I must admit I did like how they ended the Bolin and Ezsaka pair even though I didn't see it coming. for Makorra I have no idea if it's truly the end, but I guess I have to watch and see.
