No. She has to report him to the police and ask for a restraining order. When she asks for space and visits another state, he tracks her down, immediately takes a flight to that state, shows up unannounced at the cafe she was eating at, and threatens her. She is very addicted to him, but even if she wanted to leave it isn't that simple. Irl, people have to move, get secret numbers/adresses etc.

I haven't really read the books nor seen this movie and I really don't intend to. From what I have seen in the comments and reviews, it's awful, worse than any Twilight fanfic. When I read the whole summary, I can definitely see its Twilight roots. I guess it's just one of those books that got popular because "omg, it's porn! And not only that, it's freaking BDMS" so everyone had to read it because it's one of those things that you have to see to believe. In general I have nothing against the book or the plot, but only if it's read just for fun or to laugh because of the bad writing. Having said that, when I see titles or comments like "50 shades is the epitome of true love", "emancipation of women at its best", "proof that you if you endure all the hardships he will finally start paying attention to you", I start worrying. It's not harmful as is, but it has potential to be if people keep looking for something that isn't there.

How could this movie make 500 million world wide?
I have to wonder if all the talk about how messed up this story is is partly to blame for it's popularity. Bad publicity is still publicity, and it makes people curious.

And yes only good thing about the movie is the soundtrack.

After being alarmed there was a thread for this, I'm not so worried anymore after reading the comments.
Did you see this?

Was once Sasuke's biggest fan.
And then chapter 699 happened.
He should have called Kakashi out on his hypocrisy,
instead he was left alone by Naruto...

I lost faith in humanity. What are the reaction of feminists to this film?
Not positive, that's for sure!

This announcement about the release of the first book from the "hero's" POV made me laugh out loud.
What a world we live in when stuff like this enjoys such popularity.
Books like these.... or a manga wherein the true hero loses out to a selfish, sadistic heel whose warped sense of importance is overshadowed only by his misogyny, while the nice guy ends up with a virtually useless, self-obsessed, full-figured toddler.
Good times.
P.S. The reader comment about Cassandra Claire was funny too, but in a sad way. So-called writers like Claire and EL James are celebrated and made filthy rich for blatantly regurgitated rip-offs of popular works. Like I said, what a world we live in.

Oh gosh. Now another horrible book is released from the psychopathic male MC's point of view...
