Saw this in a chinese forum, they were saying above convo is basically naruto's editor expressing his condolence to Kishimoto for his dad, who passed away on 18th of jan and that was the reason for the hiatus.. can anybody verify this and read the twitter conversation?

If that's true then I understand the hiatus, death is never something you can get over quickly. Hopefully with the support of his family he'll be able to get through it easier.

If that's true.... then geez, that's pretty terrible with the whole chapter that came out and all. Hopefully, he can get himself back on his feet soon.

yeah, He said that Kishimoto's father passe away on 19th January. I thinks that's true because it seems strange to that he takes a break after 2 brreaks during crhstimas and new year holiday.

RIP Kishimoto's father.

This might be inappropriate to be talking about it, but I can't help wonder if the manga's decline in quality (IMO) actually had to do with Kishimoto being worried about his father. I could tell that Kishimoto hasn't been putting much effort in the story lately, so I can't help but wonder that the anxiety over his dad's illness played a part in it.

You know, I have been thinking about this as well.

This, paired-up with what he said about not knowing how to deal with Madara, might be cases of him literally dragging stuff along because of that and well, it's understandable. Naruto is a big manga and he has to keep it up, so to speak, so imagine that he might've been unable to even properly take care of his father and this might've emotionally and professionally affect him... Who knows?

Wow sad news today, now the week break makes sense. Hope he can pull through this. I originally thought the break was for some Japanese event or time of year, but stuff like this happens to everyone so yes hope Kishi and his family do well to get through this.

Oh, if that's the case, well, that's truly understandable. It's nice that he gets a break from the studio, so now he can deal with this personal situation. Condolences to him and his family. I am sure that his father was proud of him then and after.

Ah... No wonder. My condolences to Kishimoto and his family.

I wonder if this will affect the manga at all, maybe with the way deaths are presented and such. I imagine things will be getting more emotional.

I never even thought of that, but I think you're right.

I don't know about the manga quality, but perhaps that's why he wasn't ready to answer questions back in JF. He only got so little and what not. I can say maybe his art work have been in effect for certain cases. But I am glad he's getting a break for this. Many people who comes back from personal issue, such as this, recovers nicely, though if not share emotions with others, it can get ugly. That said I have faith that Kishi will recover nicely not for manga sake and not only for his family, but for himself too.

So that's why there's a break.

Rest in Peace Kishimoto's father.

These men are united now by a common cause. But when this battle is finished they will fall to fighting amongst themselves about how best to ensure control. In time it will lead to war. You will see.

Aw, that's really sad news to hear. I remember way back in the beginning volumes of Naruto he would always tell stories of his father and their Dragon Quest adventures before a chapter.  I hope he takes this time to grieve and rest with his family. My prayers go out to him.

I wonder if that will have an effect on the Minato dynamic on the series. Will he honor his father with Minato passing on after he gives the other half of Kurama to his son? We know that it was going to happen, but I wonder if it will have a bigger emotional feel right now.

Anyways RIP Mr Kishimoto's dad.
