The only way that you can succed overseas with anime "specially in Mexico" is if your product is called Dragon Ball Z or St Seiya. Battle of the Gods was a smash block buster hit in Mexico. With the original voice cast and all, people are already going hyperhype because the new frieza movie.

They probably had a good box office opening, but ever since then it has sucked, and I think that sums up Naruto for me, as it opened up, it was this whole new fresh thing, as the story progressed and they introduced this whole bs with Sasuke, the cycle of hatred, child of prophecy, Uchiha curse, His mother, Our father, the Juubi, Kaguya, Byakugan. War...it got stupid. Of course it took Naruto 15 years to get stupid, it will take this movie 15 days before it is pulled out of trailers, to make room for real kitten. Like the interview. Or funnier kitten...like the Interview. kittening release the interview ALREADY!!!!

You have point, at least half of it, The Last surely wasn't in production for 2 year (at least there is no proof of that at all), but all the hype, marketing production and some parts of movie that has high animation quality - are pretty expensive, and VA that is new to series - is pretty popular and high ranked in japan, + OST made specially for movie (that vessel song), but some part of movie was totall garbage - like half of faces in movie, last scenes is surely looks like kitten, and etc.

lol the last isn't really doing well right now. if you market a kitten movie well, then of course it's going to do good for it's opening week. now that the dust has settled and kishi is opening his filthy mouth, people are finally seeing how truly awful this movie and this series is. it's ranked in sixth place right now and it's only going to get worse.

Yeah, no true or not casual fan would appreciate it, but from this point, nor Kishi or SP is intrested in other part's of fandom if it's not NH or SS or casuals.

I recon the price of production for the last was quite high, RTN was made with 220 yen and had kitten animation, the last has a top animation, famous Va (Toneri AKA lelouch), big marketing process , and a lot of other things.
I recon that for the hype that was established in the begining of the marketing process, SP must be quite dissatisfied with a sixth place in its second week and also with the bad reviews by fans from everywhere
