Okay I don't know if there's a topic like this but I wanted to bring it up. I know there's one for Orochimaru but I wanted to tell you guys what I think about the whole Sannin/Team 7 thing.

Well first off, they ARE similar, right? Tsunade = Sakura, Jiraiya = Naruto, and Orochimaru = Sasuke. Everyone says they hate Sasuke and that he's a traitor, and that he's gonne become the next Oro. But...I have noticed some minor differences...

Well first...I don't think Tsunade ever loved Orochimaru like Sakura loves Sasuke (*cough*Should be Naruto). To be honest, I think Oro was BORN evil. Sasuke on the other hand turned to the "dark side" if you like, because he was driven by his familys deaths and revenge on his Brother. We don't really know if Oro had a bad past, all we know is that several of the Sensei's in the series agree that Oro was strange as a kid. I know that these are really small differences but in the end could it add to a big change? Sakura made the curse seal withdraw during the Chuunin Exam because she hugged Sasuke and he noticed her tears. That's gotta say something, hmm?
(I'm not suddenly turning SasuSaku on you all dont worry! I'm just sayin' what I think..)

About Naruto and Jiraiya, I don't think Naruto is as perverted (lol) and I don't think Jiraiya loved Tsunade as much as Naruto loves Sakura. Well, not that we know of. Also, I don't think that Jiraiya and Tsunade share a particularly strong bond with Oro. Sakura and Naruto are Sasuke's best friends and he openly admitted it. Oro however didn't seem to be great friends with them atall. So this is another difference in them...the whole friendship thing.

That's what I think anyway. I know this thing screams SasuSaku sorry! XP I want it to scream NaruSaku! sweatdrop.gif Anyway, these are my thoughts. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Hmm.

*cracks knuckles*

It's been a long time since I made essays about Naruto, so my sentences will probably sound chippy.

Indeed, the three sannins and team seven is similar -- some even likened them to be the same, which, of course, they are not.

I liked the idea (and entertained, I admit) the idea of triangle between the three sannins, but it doesn't seem likely. Tsunade seems to regard Jiraiya more as a brother, best friend, but...not really as a lover. And I doubt Kishi will be focusing the romance on the elderly.

Doesn't mean I don't fancy JiraiyaxTsunade, though. XD

That pairing does work, if it's done in the right way. But this is just some senseless ramblings about the trio-sannin-triangle, so I will move on.

Orochimaru, I think, isn't actually evil. At least in the beginning. Or perhaps even now.

I see him as...power hungry. He craves for power. He wanted it so much that he did resort to any methods possible, blurring the line between good and evil, until it's undistinguishable. His methods of experimenting for power is undeniable cruel and evil, but he probably believed that is one of the best way to attain power.

But is he evil, really? That, I don't think so.

I think he just doesn't care, he just wants power, and if I remember right, immortality. There is probably a reason (or maybe not) why he wanted so much power, and immortalily, but...until Kishi decides to reveal that little bit of information, I'm staying neutral about it.

But, then again, it's in human nature to want power. At least, the majority does. Sorta like a game of politics, to see who comes out on top. I would go deeper, but I think you get the message.

Sasuke, like Orochimaru, wants to gain power -- though I suppose for a different reason: Revenge.

However, Sasuke is similar to Orochimaru in the sense that he did not care of the methods to attain power, and the lines between good and evil is blurred once more. Though, I'm holding my tongue on this until I see Sasuke in part II...too many speculations running around, and too little facts.

Sakura made the curse seal withdraw -- but she was also the reason the curse seal grew at that time. At first it had been just part of his face (and neck?) that's tattooed with seals, but when he sees Sakura hurt and all, he's angered, burning with hatred and...well, we all know what happened.

I'm not going to point out any SasuSaku implications here, since we could all pretty much guess a typical response from a SasuSaku fan. But here's a little keyword -- hatred. And his little - cruel, I would add - smile when he broke the bone of that sound nin.

At that particular moment, was he really only extracting revenge for what the sound nin had done to Sakura?

Or, was he blinded by the taste of newfound power that he had to test it? He seemed to particularly enjoy hearing that sound nin scream in pain.

I won't deny that Sasuke may have feelings for Sakura -- there are a few facts that does seem to imply that but...I have made my point, I think. in the haze of the moment, was he really just thinking about what that sound nin had done to Sakura?

And actually, I think they do share a bond with Orochimaru. It's a strong one, I think. At the chapter nearing the end of first arc, where he hopped into Naruto's room at the hospital to tell Naruto not to pursue Sasuke anymore -- There had to be a reason why Jiraiya looked melancholic and have flashback about Orochimaru.

This probably isn't really answering any questions here but...just my thoughts. XD

I think you've pretty much defined evil right there.

Evil isn't wanting to do bad things simply for the sake of making others suffer. I think that it's being willing to do bad things simply for the sake of your own gratification or even for the sake of something that you feel is good, but that starts to get into a really complicated philosophical question.
