The simple way for Americans to avoid Ebola:

 

1 - Cut off travel to other countries

 

2 - Get a new U.S President.

Well...I don't know if this is true or not, but I heard from a conversation between family members that the way America -used- to handle these sort of outbreaks is not allowing anyone who has been in the infected area, to come in. Heck not even allowing planes to enter the country. But apparently that was changed recently to what it is now. I don't know if Obama did it or not, but if he did, then yeah. We do need someone else. Because allowing -anyone- and any plane from the infected region is like licking the door handle of a public restroom. At that point you're asking to be sick.

Again, all heard by word of mouth so it's to be taken with a grain of salt unless proven otherwise.

It definitely wasn't Obama; there have been sick people in Africa long before an African-American became President, and surely there have been varying protocols between each and every administration. Anyone telling you otherwise is an uninformed person, or just an ass.

It depends on how the heads of state deal with the issue. In which case, Obama's not doing enough. How do you prevent a disease from spreading? You don't get in contact with it, meaning you don't travel to other countries known to have a dangerous virus like Ebola. If it wan't Obama who stopped doing quarantine operations on subjects like this, then he needs to put it back into play.

4,000 U.S troops were sent to Africa to deal with Ebola. And as far as I know, the U.S is the only country doing so. Now tell me. Does that make any sense? Sending several thousand U.S troops to combat a disease that they could easily get infected with? It sure as hell doesn't to me. Because once they get infected...they're stuck there. End of the line. And why would the U.S be doing it alone? We've got enough problems inside our own borders to worry about. Pockets of Isis slipping in from the south, illegal immigration, a national debt the next six generations at least will be dealing with...the list goes on.

 

This kind of stuff in not rocket science, and the majority of these 'issues' the U.S is facing wouldn't be issues if common sense still existed in over half the freaking population.

 

Debt - Cut spending, stop buying things from other countries we don't need, rely on our own resources, create more jobs, let the demand for small businesses expand and the problem will gradually go away. I say gradually because, let's face it, a 20-trillion dollar debt isn't going to just go away over night. It'll take time.

 

Immigration - Secure the borders, only allow people into the U.S if they come here legally, don't give free handouts to illegal immigrants, arrest any illegal immigrant. Send him/her back where he came from one time and if he/she comes back imprison them for life. 

 

Isis - Bomb the living hell out of them without worrying about race or religious issues. They're a threat to the American people, and should be treated as such.

 

Education - Get the liberals out of the schools

 

 

 

The 'the rich can afford to pay more argument' is a bunch of BS. You could tax every single rich person in the U.S a million dollars a day, and you wouldn't have even scratched the surface of 20-trillion dollars in three-hundred years. Taxing the rich isn't going to solve anything. It's just going to make matters worse in the long run. You want socialism or communism? Look at countries like N. Korea, Cuba, Iraq, Russia and then compare that to the U.S. Still want communism? Didn't think so.

I doubt that the virus will be able to expand in the northern regions. This requires too many conditions for it to become an epidemy outside of the natural hotbeds. Also, Ebola can hardly be used as a biological weapon. Aum Shinrikyo (a sect) planned to spread it in Tokyo (in 80s) and failed. One should simply avoid going to Africa (and bordering countries) and wash one's hands with soap (yep, hygiene helps).The risk rates are really low (compare it with cancer mortality statistics... 8.2 million deaths in 2012. It is five times "deadlier" than the scary AIDS). If you live in the southern regions (or just predisposed to hypochondria), then sterilize your food by heating and avoid unnecessary bodily contact with animals and strangers (in airport areas, for example). It will be useful anyway.

The media likes to cause fear in the hearts of people during times of crisis like this, I find it hard to believe this outbreak is being used as a weapon.

its easy for me to believe that this is a biological weaapon ,because it spreads quickly and gives nearly 100 percent mortality plus its highly contagious..those who have the vaccine can dictate any conditions to others plus they can put any prices to the so called life saving vaccine..i heard there is a vaccine in usa but i dont know if that source is legit

It's actually difficult to use as a biological weapon because it isn't airborne. It's also not highly contagious. Unlike say, the flu, Ebola can only be transferred after symptoms start to appear and only by coming in contact directly with the body fluids of someone carrying the disease.

The reason it has spread very quickly overseas is because it unfortunately hit Africa, an area that lacks resources and sanitation. That's not the case here in the United States or in other western countries. The USA and other western countries have the resources, sanitation and medical personnel that can handle this virus.

 

Is it dangerous? Absolutely. Does it need to be handled carefully, yes. However, that doesn't mean it will wipe out whole populations. By following correct policies and procedures and utilizing the resources we have, the virus can be stopped and most likely will be stopped here in the states.

 

There's even been some good news in Africa. This BBC News article points out that Nigeria is now Ebola free, according to the World Health Organization. By continuing to help and provide education on medical and sanitary practices to other African nations, I'm actually optimistic that Ebola can be contained there, too.

 

I'm not saying it's going to happen over night, and I'm not saying that no one else will die or get sick. What I'm saying is that while this has been a horrible outbreak, there are ways to combat and win against it.
