Yeah Battle of Gods is rebooted. And from What I hear That plot about the twelve universes is gonna take into effect too. Well Partially.

I like the series so far. I love seeing Pilaf and crew. It feels like a little slice of old-school Toriyama and his humor.

 

I just saw Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection of F and I gotta say, while I had a great time with the movie, it has me worried about the series. It's one of those cases where you have really powerful characters and in order to give them some level of danger/conflict you have to depower them, sometimes in frequently inconsistent and illogical ways. Anyway else see it? Thoughts?

I actually kinda liked where Goku and Vegeta respective psychological weakness played a part in how everything went down in the movie so I didn't saw waht happened as then having a "de-power"

....... Some spoilers for those who haven't seen the movie

Piccolo has problems defeating someone who is stated as being on par with Dodoria and Zarbon at their prime. Piccolo is constantly training so he's got to be stronger than he was against the androids and Cell, so this means that at their prime Dodoria and Zarbon were stronger than stage 3 Frieza. So either Frieza's henchmen were ridiculously strong in their prime or Piccolo was depowered to give him a sense of danger in his fight where logically he should just be able to swat the guy away.

 

Gohan can no longer reach his Unlocked Potential form (even though it makes sense) to have him struggle against Frieza.

 

Goku's new Super Saiyan form is weaker than a Frieza who simply trains for four months. Four. Months. That's it!? 2 things, I don't understand why his father would tell him to not fight Buu if just training for four months makes him leap lightyears beyond Buu. Also, Goku is defeated by a laser beam... 

 

If these aren't examples of someone being de-powered to serve the story, I don't know what is...

--Gohan just got rusty, he doesn't train so no wonder he is not that strong anymore, his mystic form made SS transformation useless but I guess he kinda lost it since he is out of practice

 

--Goku SSGSS form being in the same power as  Gold Frieza was expected since the movie needed to have a fight between equals, but I hope Super gives us more on how Frieza trained to achieve this form, the diference about them is because Frieza still doesn't hold control over his new form, he never trained before and his arrogance led him to his ultimate defeat. 

 

-- His father  telling him not to fight Buu happened because maybe training themselves to get stronger was never a thought of the Frieza race? I mean they're awfully arrogant and powerful since they are born, maybe the concept of training never passed through their heads and when they thought about it they were already being destroyed in a fight. Frieza is the only one different since he had a second chance at life

 

--Goku being defeated by a laser beam is explained and foreshadowed in the beginning of the movie when Whis says that Goku lacks focus and then because of this his power fluctuates and he leaves his guard open multiple times. In the beginning Whis gives him a smack and in the end he receives a laser through his chest thanks to this, I thought it was a nice foreshadowing and showed us Goku isn't a god of battle

 

 

I only truly agree with you on the Piccolo matter if the information you provided are indeed true, it needs to be fixed up by Super if that's the case

Regardless of why he's depowered, that doesn't take away the fact that he still was depowered. I should've been more specific about my point. The only way for them to give rise to any real tension is depower the heroes or ass-pull power up some new power or powerful villain. Frieza makes a comment about how Gohan could defeat his hole army if he wanted to. But then why doesn't he? It'd save his friends the trouble and they'd all as a whole have more energy to direct towards Frieza.

I believe Frieza is stronger but due to that weakness he loses the fight. How he surpasses Goku is certainly out of nowhere or Goku is weakened.

I'll concede this point as a possibility. They are a pretty arrogant family. But if they want to be the bullies of the universe, why would they let someone else bully them around simply because they don't want to try? I believe their arrogance supersedes any lazy tendencies they may have.

The Z team would've been dead in a couple seconds, or he himself could've picked them all off while they were fighting his men. They don't need Frieza, they just need more of these weapons and skilled snipers.

I agree with the rest of your points somewhat I just want to talk about the last

It doesn't really matter, the strenght of the person behind the move used to harm Goku, what matters is if Goku's left himself open or not, when he is fighting focused, then yes it's difficult to harm him because of his power level, however as stated by Whis the moment he leaves his guard open he can be the victim of the most foolish moves because heis power level fluctuates. Kinda like the time where Krillin threw a stone at super saiyan Goku while he was resting and it hurt him
