They aren't goind to become classic, the classics of this generation are Naruto, One Piece, Bleach at some extent, Hunter X Hunter, Full Metal Alchemist and then comes to some minor ones.Sword Art Online has no charisma and memorable characters.I thought you were describing Naruto's character.

That's what they said about Gigantor, Voltron, Sailor Moon, and a few other old series too when they came out, but people see them as classics. Hell, Superman is a classic too and yet there are people like you who think just like you do about some anime. "He is a Gary stu, he is OP for no reason, his stories are boring, Desu Ex Machina."

But fine, Dark, you want to think you are always right all the time then so be it. Remember, people, Dark knows everything and his opinions are law. Whatever he says must go. Only his opinion matters and if you don't follow his opinion then I guess you are just too stupid to survive.

You just can't let people have their own opinion can you, Dark, but you want people to let you have yours.

I thought you were describing Naruto's character.

Goku is a 25-40 year old man. Naruto is 16. Naruto is actually more mature than Goku is.

Do you even know what man-child means? Apparently not.

Sword...Art...Online (I apologize to the many fans that I know this anime has...but I can't stand it. It started off well until it got to the middle part of the first season. I HAD to stop then =/. Plus the hero's just too...bland. And Asuna...well let's just say it puts the treatment of Sakura in a better light. And that's something. :twitch: )

Hmm...I noticed a pattern here in that many feel the show went down hill since the Alfheim Arc which is understandable. I don't like that part either and I like Sword Art Online. GGO is much better though IMO.

Oh well. Guess I am in a minority. XD As for Asuna...well, depending on how far they go in the anime she plays a huge role after GGO

I tried to get into Sword Art Online but... it just didn't seem that great to me.

I would have honestly been more interested in them exploring the game world of Sword Art more then him going into a new game every time and becoming a bad ass in each game. Plus the whole thing with a new potential "love interest" in each mmo turns me off (I hate harems btw)

I feel that the anime "Log Horizon" was a much better mmo oriented story.

Also yes, Kirito is very much a gary stu.

Green Green, Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-chan and DearS.  Out of all the anime I've seen, these three were the absolute worse.  Green Green is some destined love story, only done in a very strange and horrible way.  Almost none of the main cast is likable. The MC is bland.  His three friends are future sexual criminals just waiting to happen.  The main female is annoying and is the very definition of a girl who is love crazy.  The main girl couldn't get through a scene without thinking or talking about her love interest, and she's always clinging on to him, and was like this all the time.  Honestly, it was a very poor adaptation of a VN that didn't even try.

Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-chan just fails to have any sense of logic.  The MC is watched by the title character from the future, because in said future, he makes a device that prevents girls from aging once they reach the age of 10.  (Yeah, in the future, the female population is consists of only little girls).  The angel Dokuro-chan was sent to assassinate him, but she neglects her duty, and instead subjects him to fate worse than death by monitoring him at all times.  Why is that bad?  Because the angel is a sadistic and cruel person that uses her mace to off him at any opportunity (which she does alot), and then proceeds to bring him back to life afterwards (which she also does alot).  You can easily tell from all this already how stupid this show is.

Lastly, DearS is just degrading to women in general.  In this world, the Earth is inhabited by aliens known as DearS, who were left stranded her by there creators.  The MC has a phobia of aliens due to paranoia born of conspiracy and alien movies.  On his way home to school, he finds a girl laying on the road, and checks to see if she's okay.  He quickly realizes that she's one of the aliens that have been the talk of the news lately.  Before he can do anything, she wakes up and upon glancing at him, she chants some alien words, and then declares that from now on, she'll be his slave.  Yeah. . . Need I go on.

I haven't seen too many awful anime yet, but the worst I have seen so far has to be Kamisama Dolls.

Why!?

Why!?

Horrible characterization for the most part; the only good character (Aki) got criminally low amounts of screentime in comparison to the meh characters (the main cast). Bad fanservice, tons of wasted time and iffy execution, and the status quo was pretty much only reset by the end of it with very little having been accomplished character-wise and story-wise.

I didn't care for Log Horizon when I saw the first episode at an anime con...IDK, maybe I felt like it didn't start off as strongly as SAO. <.<

For better or worse I like SAO...mostly for it's first arc, which really captured my attention, especially when watching it for the second time when it was dubbed.

But maybe I ought to give Log Horizon a chance. After all, some of the series I have really enjoyed gave a different impression with the first episodes. Angel Beats was one, and I ended up loving it to death.

Kirito ends up defeating Kayaba through Deus Ex Machina (the power of love overpowers even videogame rules, how about that)

I could at least accept that ... if they hadn't pulled out this second arc/half/whatever.

Kiri-stu suvives somehow and Asuna is kept in a coma because a friend of her rich dad wants to kitten her ... , seriously, just wtf.

If they would've just stopped on episode 15, I'd give SAO an average raiting.

@Gurren Lagann

The most intresting characters in the show? They either are killed off rather easily or are forgotten.

Yeah.

Kamina had to die because Simon needet to become his copy later on with superior intelligence instead of just going his own way (like Nia suggested ...). What a shame.

I really liked Kamina, BECAUSE he was goddamn stupid. I really liked Yoko because she was not just fanservice.

I really liked this show in general because until a point, nothing or anyone was perfect ... but then box girl Nia came. And Kamina died. Yoko gets a porn star space outfit. Simon becomes god because he can. Antispirals showed up, because you need a reason to keep going.

And then this forced melodramatic end ... no, just no. This show could've been SO GOOD!

I have a love/hate relationship with it.

Worst anime I have ever watched? Umm, I would have to give it to Dragonball Z and Gurren Lagann.

I notice a lot of people mention Evangelion, Sword Art Online, Attack on Titan and such with the reasons of how the plot kind of shallow and at times confusing, it is more about the gore, or the characters are too flat and too perfect or something like that. While I am not arguing that they are right or wrong, I am just want to say this...

All those complaints I see people make about those anime, Dragonball Z and Gurren Lagann crank all that up to 11.

I have a love-hate relationship with DB since I was a little kid. I enjoyed the first part, but when we got to DBZ my enyjoyment and fun decreased the longer it went on. I missed the comedic moments, the fights that were about who the best martial arts is rather who shoots the bigger blast...

Let's tell that I kind of like it up to the Freezer saga (no, I am not going to call him Frieza). The Cell saga was already getting boring and the plot was a mess but I still found some redeeming qualities. But the Buu saga... Good God, you can tell what the creator was sick and was being forced to go on.

I would not call it worse than Evangelion, though. Evangelion -or the hype- promised me a complex, deep and well-narrated story with not plotholes and I had the exact opposite to that. DB never pretended to be anything other than an adventure/comedy series and later an action/fighting series, so I raised or lowered my expectations accordingly, and I think that as long as someoine is aware of that, it is watchable up to the Freezer's death in Namek.

I have no opinion about Gurren Lagann. I have not watched it. I have a long list of anime robot to watch and TTGL is way down on it.

That's what they said about Gigantor, Voltron, Sailor Moon, and a few other old series too when they came out, but people see them as classics. Hell, Superman is a classic too and yet there are people like you who think just like you do about some anime. "He is a Gary stu, he is OP for no reason, his stories are boringDesu Ex Machina."

I agree (and you earn awesome points for naming Gigantor and Voltron). Many people does not understand that classic is not necessarily what you find good, what you like or what you think that is not dated.

Not long ago I ran into someone claiming Mazinger-Z/Tranzor-Z was crap and not a classic. It did not matter to him that it was wildly successful, it completely changed a genre, it started the giant robo craze and their characters and relationship dynamics were new and fresh in 1972 and they became a staple in anime (The main character is a loud-mouthed, obnoxious jerkass and a delinquent? The female lead is a tsundere? And they argue the whole time? What madness is this?). It was not a classic because HE TOLD SO, the series was crap and was not innovative because HE TOLD SO, the characters were crap because HE TOLD SO, and their success was due to be watched by kids that were too young to recognize garbage and any other sci-fi series might have become just so successful (you have to love when someone uses hypotetical events and parallel universes to prove a point about events what actually happened. Would... Could... WAS NOT!) and all of this was the objective and factual TRUTH. And of course, the series that he liked were objectively better and true classics and they had not got dated because HE TOLD SO.

Many works that are considered classic nowadays got lambasted back in their time by people that people that were comercial trash to feed the ignorant masses with. Still they are called classic because people liked them.

You know, how the works of Shakeaspeare, Twain and kittenens. They were considered trash by critics and experts back then.

People like whatever what they want for whatever reason, and they decide what becomes a classic. I do not like Evangelion and I think that it is crap, but it IS a nineties classic, one of the few series from that age that younger fans remember. I can at least acknowledge that.

Senkoku no Dragonar

Heh. For one second I thought that you were talking about this Dragonar.

wait wait, the A-Team anime it only lasted like 3 episodes

The... WHAT?  :wot:

There is an A-Team anime?
