QUOTE (Yakatsu @ Dec 6 2009, 11:12 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
" My lord! A woman is here to see you! She's quite beautiful mi'lord. " Spoke the messenger as he opened the door to his room. " Please hurry. " With that the lowly man walked off.

Hideaki simply sighed. " My apologizes Sister. Kaku. I must retreat. If you want you can play with my instruments. Just...don't touch my desk and documents. " With that the young man simply walked off.

Hanami grinned, and looked at her companion. "Well, Kaku-san, did you enjoy my brother's beautiful music?"

Kaku wiped a tear from her face. "Oh, yes! It was wonderful! I had never heard so much beauty in my entire life." she blushed.

The princess smiled wider, thrilled to see her friend so happy. "That's good to hear, Kaku-san! So, what do you want to do?"

"I'm sorry, Hanami-hime, but I must get back to my duties." And, with that, Kaku stood up, bowed politely to the princess, and walked off silently.

Hanami ran after her, handing her some cake. "Just a little gift for you."

Kaku's eyes grew wider, shocked at the offer. "No, I can't. I'm just a lowly servant, Hime."

Hanami chuckled, her eyes twinkling. "Of course you can, Kaku-san! It's a small piece of gratitude for helping me make my brother smile today."

Kaku's face began to glow. "Alright. Thank you so much for the delightful cake!" Then, she turned around, and walked back to the kitchen, absolutely glad for the day's events.

---

Hanami returned to the room, and looked at her brother's instrument with awe. He was talented, and it was just ... heartwarming to hear his music. She wished she could hear him play like that everyday. So free, so lively. No worldly pressures to burden her brother's melody.

She brushed her hands against the instrument, making small sounds come alive. She spent some time thinking about her past, her father, and her mother. Where was that envelope? Had she left it in her room? She started to look around for more documents, exploring his desk. She had completely forgotten her brother's orders. She just wanted to get more answers.

Then, she heard some servants talking outside her brother's chambers.

"Have you seen Daimyo-sama's visitor, Masanori?"

"She's gorgeous, Kagekatsu! What I would give to marry someone as beautiful as her!"

"She's like an angel sent down from the heavens above." The servant's awe-filled voice lowered down to a whisper. "Do you think that she is going to be the next wife of our beloved Daimyo? He's so lucky!"

Hanami loudly opened the door, her face filled with disbelief. The servants, obviously shocked at her sudden appearance, and probably ashamed that the princess, the Daimyo's own sister had heard their 'conversation', quickly bowed at her, looking like idiots at the moment.

She dismissed them with a wave of her hand, and asked them roughly. "Where's my brother? Now."

"In his bedroom, princess. With his visitor."

Her face turned pale, and she held her robes tightly. She ran up the stairs, her steps increasing in volume. She hurriedly looked for her brother's room, silently prayed that they just got there, and slightly opened the door, revealing her brother, and three women. Sake bottles were scattered everywhere, and if she wasn't as nervous as she was, she would have gotten mad right there and then. What was all of this sake doing here? He had a year's supply in his own bedroom, and it's even hidden in a secret compartment!

She fully opened the door, glaring daggers at her brother. Where was her sword when she needed it?

She smiled, hiding her restlessness. "Hideaki-niisan!"

Hideaki looked at his own sister. " ...Yes? " He spoke as he was tuning the shamisen. The man had lot of instruments apparently! Then again, he usually breaks them. Such a rabid beast! Somehow, the young man didn't felt comfortable around his sister. Strange....

He loved her. But somehow..

Hideaki's eyes turned into a look of suspicion. " Are you going to give me a hard time again? " Was the daimyo ever going to get peace around here?

Her smile never faded from her face. "Now, why would you think I would do such a thing?"

She walked slowly towards him, a slight bounce in her every step. Yes, she had admitted that she's childish. And she was proud of it.

She stopped in front of him, staring at his dark eyes for a few seconds, her gaze never faltering even once. She rose one thin eyebrow, and smirked.

"Who's this beautiful lady, Hideaki-niisan?"

She then turned on her heels, and faced the tall woman. She was absolutely gorgeous, yet she seemed so fragile. Hanami thought about what she should say. Then, she bowed gracefully, politeness washing over her features.

"I am Ishida Hanami, younger sister of Ishida Hideaki, Akita's beloved Daimyo, and the princess of Honokawi castle. It's a pleasure to meet you."

Hideaki simply cursed under his breath. Yup. The woman isn't going to stay for long. Poor guy. He was whipped. Badly.

" Lady Wantanabe meet my sister. Sister meet Lady Wantanabe. We're in the process of negotiations in either making her a concubine or not. But since everyone else decided to turn like insolent fools, I decided to show our fair Lady here, that my vassals are also my friends. Even though their tongue is made of bile and vile words, their actions and true feelings are like flags in this war riddled world. "

Then Hideaki grinned. Quickly he shuffled away to a drawer.

" Sister. Do you still recall how to play the flute? " The young man spoke as he found the instrument and a knife. With the master-craftsmanship he had learn though experience and Lord Yamatoki, Hideaki tuned the instrument in making a few holes rounder and bigger and few more oval. Of course he made sure the instrument was free of disgusting splinters. Yes, he was truly a strategist. He would lift this constant wall of bickering! And getting drunk in the process!

Best strategist around. His father must be proud of him. Or not. I wouldn't be. Quickly Hideaki tuned the shamisen he was holding. " I'm sure everyone can sing along. If not, there's instruments everywhere. Make sure you know how to play them. Or else. " Yes. The or else part. Hideaki was rather serious about music. Especially when drunk. He almost killed Lord Kentaro during a banquet because he tortured a poor biwa with those greasy fingers....ugh. The Biwa was his favourite! How dared they to touch it like so- but we digress.

Quickly the daimyo showed his best on the shamisen. The clanging was almost perfect, people with good ear could tell the rust of the swings and the weakness of the clangs between his bachi and the cords. It was a slow tune but slowly it got faster. And faster. An ode to Uesugi Kenshin. Praise be Bishamonten...

Suckas.

When Ren and Hideaki walked into his room, a small burst of chaos ensued. First those two silly women were there, drinking sake without a care, and then a darling thing came in (his sister, it seemed), but her lord was wary. So far she had been received politely by princess, but after previous events she made note to stay on guard. ‘This castle is mad…’ she thought to herself as she bowed fluidly. “I am honoured to be in your presence, princess. I hope to better make your acquaintance.” A simple statement; polite and humble, and it rolled off her tongue in that lilting way that all other words did likewise. She knew how to play nice when she wanted to, and so far any good treatment was favourable over what she had been given. Then it began when her lord decided to initiate the drinking, celebrating, whatever, by telling everyone to grab an instrument. Her fine eyebrow rose when he threatened them to play ‘well’. She sat down on the floor, listening to Hideaki play. He was good, and her ear not tuned enough to notice any major errors; only perhaps that the strings had an odd sort of clang at first, but she got used to it as the music picked up in pace. Mm, she needed something to wet her lips. While she enjoyed the red liquid of the west, their sake was still a delight.

As she rose she spotted a ‘stash’, and took from it a bottle along with two little cups. Sitting near her lord and leaning in slightly, she poured him a glass. “For you…” Then she poured herself just a little, and placed the bottle down. Here was to good drinking… She took a sip.

[Hurp, derp, I gotta make sure this place doesn't die.]

The daimyo quickly stopped the music as he saw a cup filled with his favourite liquid. Lifting the cup at Ren, Hideaki smiled and blissfully said :

" Cheers and to many more. "

And with that, he downed the drink like it was water! Placing the cup on the floor, the young man took a deep breath. His fingers gripped the cords and quickly the music resumed. Strangely it sounded better and faster, as if the alcohol didn't hinder his coordination but yet improve it! The music filled the room quickly and Hideaki didn't seem to stop or care if he failed.

Because in his mind, he was playing perfectly. Now probably an artisan of the instrument could play better then him, perhaps fifty times better, but for now, no one could top this daimyo.

" Sister. Do you still recall how to play the flute? "

She smiled sweetly. "Of course." She then waited the flute to be handed to her, and watched her brother play, before she started.

Soft, melancholy notes were barely heard over her brother's music, but she decided to play, eyes filled with determination. It must have been heavenly.

Her cup of sake laid there, completely untouched. She did not dare touch it, or even spare it a glance.

" There you go. " The young man spoke as the music began to tighten it's bond and slowly sounding like a melody that both brother and sister made. Quickly the room was entranced by their music. It seems that Hideaki had taught something to his sister after all. The young man looked at everyone in the room to catch a glimpse of their reactions.

Nothing yet? Very well.

The young man began to play faster and adding more harder chords to see if his sister could keep up.

Her brother played faster, and Hanami felt her heartbeat strengthen. Her notes increased in volume, refusing to be beaten. She started to move around, dancing to the sway of the music around her. She was happy, and she wanted to impress the people in front of her.

She accelerated her melody, getting excited, and she smiled slightly. She was absolutely ecstatic, though her breath was running short.

"No, Hideaki-niisan, I won't lose to you!"

Haruka watched the two siblings play from over her sake cup, dark eyes somewhat critical. While she did not obsess over music and instruments as Hideaki has, she does listen from time to time. The ninja glances at the Kokyu within arm's reach.

One could not serve under Ishida Hideaki very long without learning how to play an instrument. As an end result, she knew how to use a few of the instruments he kept around. Haruka was no musical genius, but her level of skill was pretty decent. Or, so she hoped.

She felt that she should not play at the moment, however. Watching the two play, the kunoichi decides that it would seem... Intrusive.

Hideaki grinned. It was nice to see his sister play that well. But yet, the daimyo felt the need to teach a lesson to his sister, competing against him was going to surely to end in defeat. The daimyo quickly readied the comb that ran across the chords, resulting in a continuous play of the shamisen, trying to not win this by how high the volume the instrument was. But with the strumming of the instrument.

Her eyes grew wide with her brother's sudden flash of determination. He was playing on a whole different level! She tried to keep up, but her lungs failed miserably. She forgot that she was still tired from her kendo lesson a few hours ago, and there, she collapsed.

The flute stayed in her hand, for she refused to let go of the instrument. Her own brown eyes wandered around, catching the eyes of the individuals in the room, and she smiled, the adrenaline leaving her system. She didn't get too much rest anyway. Her eyes slowly closed, listening to the last notes of her brother's music in her head.

Hideaki quickly dropped everything. The young man slid to where his sister fell down. Calmly he grabbed her hands and quickly held her in his arms, like one of those tragic statues you could see in Europe.

" You okay? "

He spoke in a calm but yet concerned tone of voice. Quickly he smiled as he turned his back at her.

" Piggyback ride? To your room? "

He knew she loved that. Back from the old moments when he and her were children still, she begged for one everyday. Just one. And Hideaki always submitted to her will. Somehow, he knew that would snap her just a little.

ALRIGHT! I shall awaken this thread once more!

With ... exactly 71 words.

"Seriously? A piggyback ride, niisan? How old do you think I am?"

Finally.

That hard, impenetrable shell that her brother had wrapped around himself after their father's death was slowly cracking.

A glimpse of what he had been, and what he should be. After months of waiting, she had taken her first step to that dream.

Hanami smiled, her eyes slowly closing.

"Just one, okay? I'm tired. I want to sleep."
