and animators are NEVER not paid enough for their efforts either to make it even more tragic. That aside, death by over working is a HUGE social problem in Japan right now, not just in the manga and anime industry.

This is a sad part of the underlying problem with Japanese society, the ending of Naruto depicts this perfectly, we have two lonely children who grew up to become parents and end up hardly ever seeing their children for the sake of their work. How many times do you see in Manga kids who are pretty much self sufficient because their parents are away at work for days on end, and in most of these manga's the message is more often than not, not that parents should spend more time with their kids, instead it's more along the line of children should endure this because parents are working to put food on the table.

We constantly see issues of overworking highlighted in countries like China, India and other countries where there is a big gap in wealth, but often countries like Japan that have just as crazy working conditions, are not highlighted because the wage structure is not as bad. Many might say they are paid enough. they should just do less hours, but unfortunately it doesn't work like that, if you don't put in the extra hours, many will find themselves without a job.
