I can't speak on behalf of the person you're talking about, but for the majority of dedicated Sakura detractors I've seen on YT/other platforms, I seriously can't even fathom the amount of BS spewed. It's beyond ridiculous and most importantly - not true. Like you mentioned at the end of your post, it's one thing to dislike a character based on actual evidence (which they lack, for the most part), but to also pit said main character/female lead against a secondary character who doesn't appear often and argue for the latter is seriously telling on themselves and immediately discredits their arguments. 
 
There are countless amount of times where you have the anime slowly but surely trying to elevate Hinata as high as possible so that they could draw a contrast between them. A contrast in which Sakura is obviously purposely skewed not only physically, but personality wise (ex. her tsundere tendencies boosted). After watching the anime throughout the summer years ago, I didn't bother touching it again. It was seriously just too much. Hinata can cook, Sakura can't; Hinata can eat and scream your name in abundance; Sakura's flat-chested and ugly, Hinata is not etc.  etc. 
 
All the arguments, like you mentioned, against Sakura constitute her being a 'B', flat-chested, abusive, she's loud, she's ugly, she's selfish, she's rude, she's weak, she's a cry-baby, she's this and that (did I miss anything?) - but I'm still waiting for these people to pull up the receipts to showcase these are facts in the canon. They literally have the nerve to call her 'Suckura' despite the meaning/significance of her name. Ugh! Beyond disrespectful. Every character has their flaws, but where in the manga is this shown about Sakura? Obviously no one is perfect, but it's as if people will accept every other character in the series for their flaws but if Sakura were to look at anyone funny it would be game over for her. It's disingenuous. These people also don't understand, or refuse to acknowledge that Sakura is a complete contrast to Naruto and Sasuke in the sense that she is, as Kakashi stated, "a kunoichi with no special ability" in the beginning of the series. Sigh.
 
I'm not over here stating that Sakura is the best written character in the history of female leads (duh), but you'd think given her character in the manga, at the very least people would tolerate her. I'm sick and tired of this obtuse, lack-of-reading-comprehension fanbase that has plagued this series. The anime also seriously shoulders a heavy blame for this, considering how majority of people in the western fanbase watch the series as opposed to reading it. Anime Sakura and Manga Sakura have lot of differences between each other and it's awful. I hate it here! 

Hell, they won't give Sakura credit for anything. You know the Sasori fight? Many American fans believe Chiyo did all the work in that fight despite Sasori constantly complimenting Sakura, Chiyo being injured or simply out of commission for the most of the fight, and Sakura inventing the antidote to the poison that even Sasori himself said would be nearly impossible without knowing what ingredients were in to make it.

Kakashi AND Naruto chased after Deidara and actually let him get away from them and this is seen as a victory, but Sakura beating Sasori is simply unrealistic.

No joke, I had someone tell me to read the manga and see how worthless and pathetic Sakura is and that if Chiyo was not there, Sakura would have died, but go back and you see it is actually the other way around.

This is how much hate Sakura gets. You point out ANYTHING she does and they will give some excuse on why it is not as great as you think. Hell, I am surprise they allow Sarada to be Sakura's kid and accept that because if Sarada is better than Bolt, and it seems to me they like her better than Bolt, then they are giving credit to Sakura for it and actually admitting she made something or did something amazing.

I am surprised they don't say "Sarada is definitely Karin's kid because Sakura can't produce such wonderful offspring."

 

The Double standard here, again, is obvious. Sakura was the apple of Naruto's eye, and he was an outright hated orphan that was sociallly and emotionally abused. these American readers WERE SOOOOOOOO offended by that fact and the that Sakura was drooling over Sasuke, that her attitude was like friend zoning Naruto (can anyone actually show me a panel of Sakura friend zoning Naruto? Because I can't recall it) . That apparently hit home for alot of "weaboo losers in love" in the U.S.A. so Sakura is apparently is a malicious demoness in these haters's eyes that can never be redeemed because she had the audacity to be the love interest of the MC that really needs love but she never gave it to him from the beginning. Like he deserves

 

Sarada and Boruto don't have that dynamic so it is more or less okay for these lunatics to pair them together and say Sarada is a badass, because again Boruto is not a poor abused orphan that needs love, he's more or less a spoiled social rebel, so the former's tsundere behaviour is tolerated.

 

Sakura's hatedom is VERY ODD AND FUNNY GROUP OF CREATURES if you ask me. Apparently the hate only applies to her if there is anything insinuating that she is good love interest for Naruto or even a decent friend to him, or that she has any real significance in the story. If you just mention how she should be the trophy wife of Sasuke Which she IS NOW), or let's just say, "pair her with ANY MALE CHARACTER THAT IS NOT NARUTO UZUMAKI, you will some semblence of a civilized discussion. I THINK

My friend and I were talking today on how or what would happen if Kishi came to our house and told us we could fix Naruto in any way we saw fit, but we knew that we wanted to challenge ourselves and not just have a rewrite of Naruto as that would be too easy.

 

So what we did is set it just after either the Pain arc or when Naruto has just met his mother.

Rewriting the story on my own. Basically after 699 I take it on another path than what we got in canon.

 

It's gonna be called Kaika Saisei - and that's the first part. Cuz it's going to be a story in 3 parts, following the gang after Arashi's generation, even.

 

Kinda like Hanami's children.

 

That's how I started the first chapter of the third part.

 

I am really excited about it.

 

I will start first writing it and in the meantime I also want to learn how to draw because I'd really like to have it drawn...
