You know, looking back, it would seem like we are already on board with shipping in our childhood. Take Digimon for example. The less the better at this point. I guess that's why animated movies/shows have romance. Because we do care. Go us!

On-topic: Yeah, I definitely was going for AshxMisty. Once the show got milked to beyond capacity, well I just stopped watching Pokemon, though I was getting older. Nah, that's no excuse, it's just too much. I felt that the design was getting lazier as the show continues. I can't help but feel odd about B/W "Misty. I think it's the hair. Anyway, I remember so many moments with AshxMisty, though I think the english dub probably made an Misty loving Ash much more obvious. In fact, there's an official song for it. No joke. I will search once I get back from work. Anyway, I remember the emphasized they did like when Ash was supposed to be "dead" in that search for ghost pokemon and when Ash finally woke up, we get like a 5 seconds of only Misty tearing for joy. I can actually talk more about it, but I think a lot of people in here knows.

Actually I would like to point out that With Pokeshipping they completely polarized the friendship and ship tease moments in the Japanese version. By that I mean that Moments that were past  off as just friends moments were actually supposed to be ship tease and vice versa in the Japanese voice acting so I think that there were about equal accounts of Romantic hints. That said it is a kids anime so romance is not taken all seriously. And no, I am not saying that due to The Western notion to make some notable anime for kids only, it actually is labled for the "kodomo" demographic.

I see. I guess that makes sense. It begs the question that if they don't take romance serious, does that mean they didn't truly care for digimon s1? I feel like the s2 director thought, "It's a kid show. No one won't care." Sadly, it seems outside Japan got hit hard.

Some say it's because they had a different director.

I have always been a AshxMisty shipper.

When I started watching Pokemon (the show responsible for me believing Onix was a Pokemon worth to something before my Pokemon Red cartridge proved me otherwise) I instantly acknowledged the Hot-blooded Idiot Hero / Tsundere dynamic I was already familiarized with, and I considered them the kind-of-official couple of the show.

And there were many hints spread throughout the series. I vividly remember when Misty went Ash for a dance in Maiden's Peak and Ash got floored when he saw her dressed in festival attire. I laughed when after defeating Blaine, Misty showed that she had forgotten all about the bike...

Hooooooowever, after the Indigo League season, the show started getting gradually more boring. I think I stopped watching it after Ash beat his first Johto Gym.

I also stopped paying attention to Pokemon after beating Pokemon Gold.

Several years slater, the next thing that I knew was that, after several seasons, Misty had been replaced for a girl called May, who in turn was later replaced by another girl called Dawn.

Then I realized the anime-makers would never hook up Ash with a girl officially. Female partners would go and be replaced, making Ash's relationships with them pointless.

Hence, I keep being a Ash/Misty shipper. After all, Ash will never get together with May/Dawn/NextTokenGirl/ScrappyReplacement/Whocares, so why abandoning my ship?

Well, that's also added to the point why Ash hasn't aged and still to this day is 10 years old. And I giving a guess when they were working on the Kanto season, the producers weren't sure at the time if the anime and its cast will get popular as it progressed.  I bet they weren't expecting Ash, Pikachu, Team Rocket, etc. to be well-known characters.

To this day, the series has been the same routine like Sailor Moon anime did back then with its Monster of the Day.  Ash, Pikachu and new gang meets new Pokemon during their travels, find ways to help it, Team Rocket causing trouble, they lose to Ash and gang with "blasting off again"... its boring.  Even the motto is boring!

I want to get back into the series with Misty and Brock traveling with Ash. (And yes, I support AshXMisty/SatoshiXKasumi!)
