I think it's the right call. Feliz can now be a starter as was the intent all along. This team has a lot of starters on it's roster (or would be ones) and people will need to eventually be moved. I'm not as down on Wilson as many Ranger fans (though he is a poor playoff performer), but he isn't worth what I think it will take to keep him (100 million plus).
The Rangers didn't get where they are by trying to be the Red Sox and Yankees. They tried that once and they were awful when they did.

Puljos leaves St. Louis and goes to the Angels. And Wilson does, too.

I KNEW HE WANTED MORE MONEY, BUT THAT'S TOO MUCH. THAT'S WAY TOO MUCH FOR THE CARDINALS.
SADNESS. I'LL LIVE WITH IT.

I'm hoping they become the A-Rod Rangers because of this deal. Rangers had A-Rod, but did have the talent to put around his and sucked. Wilson got 5 yeard for 75 Million. I think that would have been reasonable for the rangers, but they didn't get good by blowing money in free agency. Angels better hope he keeps his walks down.

Yeah I guess we'll cope by going after a shortstop or something.
The first part of my generation of Cardinal fans grew up with the McGwire and the Home Run Chase. We thought he was an icon, then the Steroids scandal broke and then we had to grow up. When Albert came we were amazed and then the juggernaut teams arrived with Pujols, Edmonds, Rolen, Walker, Carpenter, Suppan. The 2001-2006 years were amazing. Nothing compared to this year in my lifetime this was the greatest season most of us in the fanbase will ever see. When you hear people say that this started with Matt Holiday's contract call BS. The starting price in 2008 was the A-Rod Contract.
More importantly when you hear people say Everyone Won in this deal, the Cardinals didn't overspend and won't worry about decline, the Angels have a superstar, Pujols is Richer, Ask Yourself This. What about the Kids Born in 1994-2009 who have all but ever known of Albert Pujols the Cardinal who would be like ones they never met. Ask the 7 year old kid who's icon is gone. The young fans have lost their innocence because of reality. The Idealistic Young Fan lost because the Icon is gone.
For the Rest of us here the Cardinals have always been bigger then the one superstar (Except Musial, Gibson). They were the original Tampa Bay Rays, the farm system was created by the first GM Branch Rickey for the Cardinals. In the face of the big dollar Yankees said if they could not afford big stars, they would make them. The Rest Is History. Cardinals may have less World Series Titles then the Yankees but they're 3-2 in 5 meetings with them in the Fall Classic.
Albert Is Not the First Star to Leave St. Louis (You ever wonder how Steve Carlton was a Phillie, worst mistake Gussie ever made not to pay him. I wasn't even alive then and it hurts!) but he's not the Last one to come from them. The Cardinals will always have a star face of the franchise.
If anything this benefits the other sports teams in St. Louis, if the Blues want to go to the Stanley Cup and get attention for it, now would be the time to do it, right now they're hot. The Rams, err.........draft Justin Blackmon and get a new O-line for next year then we'll see. Last time the Cardinals were in a transitional period some guy named Warner won a Super Bowl and the Blues won the President's Cup.

Rangers Strike Back, Texas wins bidding war for Yu Darvish
I wonder if that was plan A or plan B. The bid was 51.7 million and that isn't going include the contract. So, if they sign him they will have spent more on him than on a known quantity in Wilson. Did they set the offer on Wilson with this in mind or feel they had to do it once Wilson fled and the Angels signed Puljos?
I get the feeling they wanted Darvish all along because while good, Wilson is not regarded as a true ace, more of a low No.1 or No.2. Are they hoping this is their ace? If they sign him who is the odd man out of the rotation? I'd guess it's most likely Ogando who seemed to burn out down the stretch.

(For the younger readers, "buying music" was the way we acquired it, since we couldn't just… you know what, let's just get back to the Bowen song. Stupid kids, you ruin everything.)
