Naruto's feelings were also based mostly on physical attraction. He didn't even know why he liked her until Ch. 3. That's why I don't think something big happened for him to like her before Part 1.

Sakura's feelings are a bit more interesting tho with that expression of hers last chapter. I definitely see a missing piece here in why she started hating Naruto so much. I just got a "we'll see a flashback to explain this" vibe after the panel. And it'd probably be significant to NS, though I doubt it'll reveal Sakura used to have a tiny crush on him.

Hmm.. physical appearance might be one of the things naruto likes about sakura but i dont think that started it..didnt he say in chap 3 that he finally 'understand' why he like her? So it must have been her character who wants to be acknowledge that he likes.

And yes i dont think Sakura had a lil crush on nardo when they were little but she could have been interested or fascinated with him.. esp with her expression during sasunaru sparring match. Im betting its about naruto wanting to stand on equal ground with sasuke.. remember what lil naruto said to sasuke on this chapter? "You are not even considering me"

Sakura on the otherhand mustve started to feel the same way at this point towards Ino after seeing the narusasu sparring. She didnt just break her friendship with Ino JUST because of Sasuke alone (she might have use the sauce as an excuse and as a point of reference) but what she REALLY wanted is to be equal with Ino who doesnt see her as a flower but just a bud that has yet to grow.

@rocci
yea i guess nardo didnt use the tease the girl i like but more like he was too aggressive that annoyed sakura

Not me.

I really want to believe that little Sakura might had a tiny crush on Naruto. Hinata has, why not her?

I bet SS wil be so irate if this happen.

Why?

Magnolia if i remember correctly symbolizes perseverance.

If you prefer it in japanese culture then cactus flower means enduring hard times. Another is cherry blossoms which can symbolize extreme beauty and quick death but is also an enduring metaphor for the ephemeral nature of life as what urged japanese soldiers to endure sufferings during the war.

@rocci
that would be neat but i dont think kishi will go that far as much as we wanted him to.

But since its almost the end part of the manga i hope kishi can somewhat insert even just a small part of it. I also have that notion that Naruto's nindo was inspired by his similarity with Sakura. Your idea about putting the meaning into the flowers makes more sense though.

that recent filler with mecha nardo giving a flower to sakura gave me the same feel into it.

@dejavu:

Naruto didn't understand why he liked her until chapter 3. Maybe he always had a secret reason for liking her and just wasn't aware of it or maybe he didn't. Personally I think it was just attraction for him until the bench scene. I never saw much depth in his feelings for Sakura in the earlier days that didn't appear shallow.

Naruto inspiring her to break away from Ino makes sense, but I always concluded it was mostly just Sakura's own sense of self-worth that motivated her. She wanted to be someone to look up to (not just win over Sasuke).That makes her a lot like Naruto, how she didn't just want two people's acknowledgement (Ino and Sasuke) but in general.

There's also this theory that seeing Naruto want Sasuke's acknowledgment made Sakura realize that she wanted that too though romantically. I'm not quite sure how I feel about that one. It's like so many other times where Naruto inadvertently strengthens or supports Sakura's feelings for Sasuke, a "crutch" for SS.

For those who believe in that 'Naruto made Sakura want Sasuke's acknowledgment', how exactly does that help NS?
