Intro for your entry in the Samurai world.
21 of June , 1582 , the great daimyo Oda Nobunaga was defeated at Honno-ji by the hands one of his most faithful servant, Akechi Mitsuhide, leaving the already unified Japan in shambles. Again.
The following day, the remaining warlords of Japan, now had other ambitions. Some wanted to avenge the death of their lord, some wanted to take the lands from the next, others wanted to be left in peace.
And some, just wanted to reap the confusion that Akechi rose and start their campaign to obtain the title of Shogun. This is a 'what if' scenario and most of the following events are fictional.
This is before the Toyotomi shogunate and after Mitsuhide Akechi is murdered, safe to say it's between the first and second Toyotomi shogunate-to-be campaign. Only you can stop the Monkey from getting to power.

Rules
-No godmodding.
-No breaking the forth wall. Flintlock weapons are the maximum you'll go as far as it comes to technology. Cannons are for fiefs (conjunction of lands) rich enough to buy those colossus and unfortunately you won't be seeing a Sony PlayStation 2 around this RP.
-No demons , angels , vampires , only humans.
-No Mary Sue's nor Gary Sue's ( I AM NOBUNAGA'S LOST CHILDDDDD OH HA OH HA. )
-No instant promotions, you create a foot-soldier, expect him to stay that way.
-Romance is okay. Just recall. This is the 16th century. Keep it simple, most marriages are arranged and holding hands is kinda of embarrassing back at the time. YOU GUYS CAN KISS THOUGH. Just do it in a room. You filthy animals. And homosexual relationships are totally okay. Don't do anything graphical though. If you feel the need to do so...just...take it to PMs. Like that'll do some good, righttttttt?
-Learn how to lose. This is important. Clans started out individually but were absorbed by bigger clans and so on and so on. If you lose, expect to be someone's servant, but who knows? Play your cards right, you'll get a castle , a nice wife and a lot of gold. That's what happened with most of them.
-European characters are welcome in the RP. Don't abuse it though.
-For any other Sengoku Jidai related topics , please visit Wikipedia.com, I admit I know a few things about the samurai but not everything. And also expect me to screw up a lot of stuff. But hey. This is all fun and games. Except the rules. IRON FIST STYLE.
-Take note of the fact honour means everything in this time. Your character might not have a sense of honour but others will.
-Don't force other characters in doing something, this is a slow-paced RP. Rush in , you die. And you'll have to make another character if your character dies off.
-You can make at maximum 4 characters and try to keep them diversified...4 chaps in one group kinda is stupid and one-sided.
-Don't be making individual clans for each person. For example : 8 characters = 8 clans. How about just 2? Isn't that better?
-Also cursing? ...Avoid. It. Like the plague. The bubonic one, ya' know. The one that makes you have those big zits that release black goo that smells like granny's drunken breath? That.
-If the RP gets into the whole long-term ordeal, except to bear children and to die like a normal person so a next generation of characters can be created. Or die by the sword. Or the plague. Or the Influenza. BLOLOLOLOL. But only if the RP gets a lot of members and gets into the mark of 3 months. Yeah , let's be fair here. No one wants to bump ugly here.
-Please. No one liners. No asterisks to denote actions. Imagine yourself writing a book. Using the 3rd person would be a nice feature.

Roles you can play
Daimyo - You're the lord of a piece of land and you control everything of of it. You're the big boss and people will worship you, love you and befriend you. Or betray you and murder you. Big difference right? That's why you can grant rewards to ensure your people's loyalty. You can make laws and conquer and be conquered. You can be anyone's ally or someone's enemy. Choose them well.
Retainer - You're your lord's power, your sent to the battlefield and take care of his lands like they were yours. Same as a general, you have the power to create armies and exert the law with your bare hands. Impress your daimyo to earn several rewards. From the retainer rank you can be a :
-Strategist : You help plan the battles and overall political issues. You have a say in the council of war and political meeting, just like every other trusted retainer. Except to fight alongside your men.
-Commander : You assist in commanding the troops in the middle of the fight. You obey the guidelines of the daimyo and strategist and make sure they happen. You're the moral booster in the midst of the fight. If you say charge, except the foot-soldiers to charge. And they except you to scream with them until death.
-Politician : You're not a fighter nor a thinker. You're the guy who stays in the background making sure the people love the daimyo and the rest of the retainers, you make up plans to improve the economy, agriculture, fishing and so on. You're with the boring assignment. But you better do it good, you're as important as the next. You also have a say in the council alongside the Commanders and Strategists.
(Daimyo's can also be strategists , commanders or politicians, which is a nice way to find out someone's strengths and weaknesses, strategists rely heavily on their knowledge and can lose the grip of battle if the enemy does something unexpected, commanders are prone in dying in every fight because they're out on the field and politicians have no skill in fighting nor thinking in the battlefield and are only good in terms of politics. Even though Daimyos are supposed to possess these skills , we have to iron out a few details and make everyone have certain weaknesses and strengths.)
Concubine : You're not a hooker. You're plan B. You bare children when the main wife of the daimyo is too busy/too old or just doesn't have what it takes. You'll be heavily rewarded and you might fall in love with the daimyo. Sick? Yes. Can happen? It's historically documented.
Civilian : Low-class, medium-class , aristocrat , whatever, you're in this. You can help your daimyo, by offering your best daughter/son hand in marriage to be rewarded with land and koku ( the coinage of that time ) and perhaps a chance of becoming a retainer. Either way, if you start off a low-class peasant, the only action you'll see in the war is though the ranking of mere foot soldier. If you're gonna pick this rank , beware.
It has came to my attention that there's a few gaps in several character customization, for example, you want to be a travelling salesman/musician , geisha or even fisherman. THIS IS THE ROLE YOU WANT TO PICK. Civilians are people who don't fight or have jobs of their own. They may be draft- you know what? You want to kick arse, you kick arse. Just don't expect to live through it. Peasants.
Ninja : You are the shadows and the daimyos are the strings that pull you. Yes. You are trained assassins that are trained to kill, spy and scout for your lord. Except to be used more often during the battlefield, considering most daimyos have protect up their necks and spying/killing might be too risky.
Ronin : You're a samurai , willing to work for other people for money. Or you're just unemployed and you want a noble family to take you in. Orrr you want to duel people to prove your might. Think of Miyamoto Musashi and Sasaki Kojiro and you'll get the perfect definition of mercenary/duellist samurai.
Gaijin : The outsiders. You're either hated or loved by the daimyos. Your ministers spread Christianity and you sell weapons or fight alongside the daimyos and their retainers in this horrid war as a mercenary. You have ZERO bonds with this land. You are officially fresh off da' boat. Literally. The Gaijins can only be English, Dutch, Portuguese and Spanish. Be warned. If you're going to be Portuguese or Spanish be prepared to 'convert' some people as they are Roman Catholics and back then, they weren't so keen in walking among people who worship other gods. English and Dutch aren't really into the convert business. They just want money and to whoop bum.
