Why do people NOT ship these two? I just don't get it.
Probably cause they hate Sakura. When she's probably the most developed female character in the whole show.
I respect Hinata, but Sakura deserves some too.

If Narusaku didn't happen and Sakura had to pair up with someone I would prefer it to be with Sai. I think they have a nice relationship. From the beginning Sakura was interested in Sai's life from when she saw his paintings and read his art book and I feel like she did have an effect on him. I also feel like Sai has tried to understand her and the relationship they have with other people. They wouldn't be perfect but at least Sai tries to be a good friend and teammate . Sai and Sakura certainly would be much much better than Sasusaku.

So this is my number one guilty pleasure and perhaps, sometime, I will even share my fanart of when I was really into this couple. Yep, fan art, that's how cute I thought they were. I can't handle it, because they had such an interesting start and truly paid attention to one another. Sakura was the first one to try and make a connection with Sai (I know there was Yamato trying to get the team together, but I mean more on a personal level, like asking about his art). And Sai was watching Sakura and Naruto very closely. He tried to make bonds with them before anyone else. He was brutally honest with Sakura and tried to help her make the right decisions for herself and for her love interest Naruto.
And he was the replacement for Sasuke, so I really thought he would be the healthy alternative. And it turned out he was...for Ino.
But since I am shipping non-cannon stuff anyway I'm going to let my shipping heart free and enjoy this one too! I mean, it's still better than sasusaku any day.

Hrmm Sai is more of a NaruSaku shipper. He wouldn't wanna get between them.
However Sai over Sasuke for Sakura anyday.
Also I think Kikitten forgot that when Sai called Ino "beautiful" and Sakura "ugly" he meant the exact opposite. I wanted Ino with Shikamaru...
I like that part in the manga where Naruto gets annoyed when Sakura brings around Sai to hang out. XD
