In the story, did she basically disguise herself as someone else? Like she took on another identity in order to get close to Naruto in the ANBU? And basically had Naruto fall for her? Right?

Dude holy hell, thanks a lot! I was looking for that for ages. Totally going to have to read it once I read through these other few stories. Perfect way to end a once-a-year binge; in misery and depression, just like the series its based on XD

Boruto is the type of trash that a Waste Management truck would deliberately leave back on garbage day. I could see the garbage can and the garbage truck playing hot potato with a Boruto Manga, because neither of them wants that trash in them.

Me personal opinion, turning a bright character into a trashcan, while retconing most of his original goals, doesn't really help him. His sauce-key plot line is long time over, he has "wife" that he never confessed to on pages, so pretty much a cardboard character for background of burtio.

I mean, should we really be surprised? Sakura was always popular in Japan. As one of the core members of the story, she sold merch and was promoted above most of the other cast. And everyone knows she got a Montreal Screwjob at the end for Hinata's sake, doing promos for The Last that said she wasn't the heroine anymore. Promos that got fans very upset iirc.

 

They know she was betrayed by the staff, but they still want to support her. Especially considering her "replacement" has everything handed to her and is shilled like her name is Poochie.

People keep forgetting that. They probably thought they all left after the ending besides the ones that wanted SS to happen.

Bolt is a character that can easily make people dislike him and he lacks the traits that made Naruto tolerable even when he was being an annoying brat.

Rules says that Sakura has a strong support base in Japan. Sasuke always been popular over there. Salad is the most liked kid in the sequel. Cups been given a lot of focus in the anime due to them not having Nail. Ino's son is surprising but he is the guy that actually criticizes and is not the impressed with Bolt; so that may have made him more liked.

 

Add akk that and how bad Naruto is as a father and a hokage and it a surprise he still that high.

It's not something new that Sakura is on the top spot. It has always been the case when the original manga runs in its past 15 years.

I always take character poll or survey with a grain of salt. Like any other polls and surveys out there, it's merely a sampling. It's *the only way* to get a proxy metrics of what readers want to see in the literature product, but it won't represent everyone's opinion.

Now, I'm not saying that sampling doesn't work. On the contrary, sampling works fine statistically speaking, so long as your sample set is good and unbiased.

Think of a doctor who diagnosed you with your blood sample. The doctor won't extract the entire blood out of your body to do the diagnostic so that he/she can treat you accurately. Extracting the whole blood will kill you instantly. But rather, they extract a tiny bit of your blood (or other means your body produces), run a few tests (mostly involving reagents) to verify their hypothesis, get the result of the tests and analyse/diagnose it with the objective of giving you the right treatments.

Character polls and surveys are trying to achieve the same objectives. It's the only means that authors would know how are their stories received and perceived. They need to listen to their customers/readers from time to time. It was done with a good intention in mind.

Assuming the information is correct, what's interesting in this poll is that Boruto the titular character, is not even in the top 10. Naruto is not in the top 5, and of course, Hinata is barely in the top 10 (after Kakashi and Sumire).

And these are supposedly coming from NH/SS fans or whoever is left in the series.

It's like Kishi and WSJ did whatever they could to make NH canon, making a 180 degree move in this ~USD 10 billion behemoth franchise, just to find out that NH fans are almost non-existent.

Look at the polls folks. It's as if any remaining readers don't want to see Naruto and his family. lol.

NH are so insignificant that even NH offsprings, both Boruto and Himawari, are not popular in their own character polls. Even worse, it makes Naruto less popular than Inojin.

Imagine someone told you 6 years ago that Ino and Sai's son are going to be more popular than Naruto. How would you react back then? Yet, here we are.

I won't discuss Hinata, since she's always been that character that everyone thought super popular but in the actual fact she is not. I've said this before and I'll say this again: Hinata doesn't sell. She's not that popular. Period. People who thought otherwise are biased.

From the first poll Sakura is in 5th Place with around 3055 vote, which is her best result in all the polls. Then comes the second poll and she goes down to 14th and gets 359 votes which is her result result in poll, but I noticed that the turnout in polling for the second compared to the first as the highest polling in the first had kakashi on 22692 votes then the highest for the second poll was Naruto on 2788 votes. So I don't if her drop in the polling was due to lower/limited turnout or just that she wasn't doing much by the time the poll came out and you had all these new characters.

Then shes gets back in the top ten in 9th place with 1186 votes by a poll not published in the manga from the wiki seems to be explaining. Then in 10th for the fourth poll with 1348 votes and from this poll till the sixth Sakura is ahead of hinata in the polls only if by a few votes sometimes. The fifth and the 1st poll in part 2 she gets her 2nd best result by coming in 8th place with 2394 votes and her Sakura Blizzard Technique from the first naruto movie gets 511 votes in 17th place for the 2nd jutsu polls (kinda wished Kishimoto found some way to put this jutsu in the manga), though sadly this is the last time she is in the top 10 in individual polling. Then she is in 12th place for the 6th poll with1359 votes, ten votes behind Itachi and this poll is also naruto lowest ranked as he is in 4th place being beaten by Deidara.

By then out of the six polls the 3rd data book adds all the votes each character got in those polls to determine the post popular character overall you get Sakura's total being 6th place with 9701 votes. Then finally the seventh poll which is the longest gap between polls as the sixth was done in the 2nd arc of part 2, while the seventh was done during the beginning of the war around the time team vs asuma & Mifune vs Hanzo was going on you get Sakura tied with Sai for 12/13th place with 2188 votes and hinata overtake her for the third time in 10th. 

I have no idea why there is such a gap in the last two polling, but I wonder if the anime studio and Jump editors used the 7th poll as an example that Sakura was losing popularity and Hinata was more popular than her. Heck I wonder if some of these mixed polls results are reasons as a whole as to why Kishimoto didn't go too deep into stuff like Sakura's backstory and parents because she "wasn't Popular" enough despite overall from the 3rd databook she was doing okay for the most part ending being the 6th most popular character. Granted I find Kishimoto weird on polling/popularity he since didn't use characters like sai enough because he wasn't popular enough in a similar manner to Sakura's family not being shown in the manga, but also diminished Kakashi's because he was too popular. and didn't want him overtaking Naruto.

Kinda wished he took how the Gintama mangaka took the polls and not take them too seriously and make fun it at times.

A little after "The Last" premiered in Japan there was merchandise of Hinata in shops all across the country but as some members can attest to it ALL stayed on the shelves collecting dust

Ehh. I'd say that as far as supporting characters go, Hinata was pretty popular. After all, it was her brief appearances in the manga that got SP all into her underaged ass, presumably because they thought she would end up being more important in the manga than she actually ended up being. HOWEVER, there is a world of difference between  being a supporting character and a main character and what it means for them to be popular.

 

Hinata never had what it took to become a main character, especially after they had to throw so much under the bus for her to become one.
