#967563 Voltron Legendary Defender

I saw someone on tvtropes claiming Joshua Hamilton stated that Keith and Acxa are definitely not blood-related on the Let's Voltron podcast. So, if anyone can confirm this, please come forward.

Also, just a thought: I predict we're getting a 2-year timeskip in the next season, and I'm really hoping Katie grows her hair out again.

As for Allurance, I definitely agree it felt rushed. Last season, I did feel that they were growing closer as good friends, but the leap from that to what we have now is a bit...jarring to say the least. I don't really support it, but I'm not gonna deny they do have some development. I just think it was too rushed. But most of all, I don't think the writers properly developed the chemistry between them. Whereas plance's chemistry was being subtly developed from the beginning imo.

They also tried very light ship-baiting with Keith x Acxa, but we all saw through that (and I am so freaking glad to see Plance flourishing on a romantic note in this season).

How so? Don't get me wrong, I'm a plance shipper as well. But I don't think there was any particular moment that would've opened up a strong possibility for them to end up together. Unless you were actually talking about Lance/Allura....

As for Keith/Acxa, I'm still iffy on that even though I'd be onboard with it. The thing that gets me is their last scene in the current season, where Keith and Krolia visits Keith's father's grave. Instead of seeing it through shipping goggles, I'm still suspicious that Acxa might be Keith's half-sister that Krolia never knew or something. Or maybe even a cousin.

Where did that come from? AND NO. Bakuraka reminds me of SasuSaku. Not anywhere remotely nearly as bad but still, a selfish prick that only cares about himself and does not treat a kind, sweet, and compassionate girl as she deserves? No thanks

^True.

That said though, I have taken a liking to BakuCamie lately. For one: She's literally the only person who has ever made him laugh genuinely. Two: someone as offbeat as her is probably exactly the only kind of girl that could put up with him.

Would y'all believe some blind moron on tumblr actually made a NH-KamiJirou comparison? Like, I don't even... If anything the most comparable ship for KamiJirou has to be ShikaTema.

But let's picture something happy why don't we?

Eri will (hopefully) be adopted by Aizawa, and that means moving into the dorms. Aizawa will be the grumpy grandfather (but don't say that to his face lest you get detention or extra assignments), IzuOcha will be her new "parents", and the rest of 1-A will become her new uncle and aunties.

Auntie Mina will take advantage of young Eri to play matchmaker for everyone else. Auntie Kyoka would teach her music with her boyfriend, Auntie Momo would homeschool her and Todoroki just spoils her while running up Endeavor's credit card bill. Let's be honest, even if Endeavor patched things up somewhat with Shouto, Shouto would still take every oppoturnity available to be as petty as possible against the flaming kitten.

Class B will also "borrow" Eri from time to time, to try and pair up Kendo and Tetsu4.

The one time Mineta got stuck babysitting her, it became the most stressful day of his life, and he had felt like he aged 15 years in one day simply because he knows the rest of the class (especially Ochako and the girls) will skin him alive if he is up to his usual habits around her.

I think the spinoff might be a mini-series of the next generation. I don't mind the franchise going down the Boruto route, so long as it is not a full-fledged series. The series ended on a good note and there's no need to milk it further. If Mashima has to write a sequel, it should be one where he ties up loose ends like where the characters are 10 years in the future.

As for his new series, if it's anything like Rave and as long as FT is with the same amount of critical acclaim, then Mashima is definitely higher than Kubo and Kishi combined in my books.

Looks like the arc must be taking it's toll on the manga's popularity and maybe sales, the speed they just rushed through the battle between Rindou and Aldini was something else, then Azami gate crashes with the two well all I can think is fan service females, who are just annoying, and lastly how they now have a two vs two situation for the final, (though I think many of us expected this to be the case anyway.)

Now someone explain to me why Senzaemon was the one who decided on the final round? He was voted out, he has no power over the school's running right now, infact even last week why was his attendance enough to overturn the issues with having the judges changed for bias judges? Did the mangaka forget that they stripped the old headmaster of his powers? so why is he suddenly dictating the
rules?

Anyone else feel like they've been shafted? around two years of enduring this largely rubbish arc, just to get to the final, and then we get a situation, where the only outcome has to be a rebels win otherwise it will just look like the entire arc was pointless as the number 1 & 2 seat winning now will be under the shadow of bias judges.

I'm guessing that's the price Azami paid for to meddle in the judging. Remember that Senzaemon agreed to Azami hijacking the jury, but in exchange, the next bout's format will be decided by him. Since Azami being set-up is freakin' obvious right now, I'm betting the next bout is a single dish match, forcing both sides to work with their team-mates.

So, anyone watched the new season?

I'm gonna give my overall thoughts on Keith's development. I think this is a good direction to take for his character. First, just because the Black Lion chose him, doesn't necessarily mean that he's up to the job. Keith being the leader is something Shiro wanted, not what Keith wanted. Shiro comes off as a jerk in this respect. He didn't take the time to consider Keith's mental-preparedness for the job.

Second, Kolivan offers something Shiro can't. A different perspective and style. Just from the first episode alone, it's clear where the differences between him and Keith lie. Keith can learn the more pragmatic side of things, while staying true to his ideals. His clashing POV with Kolivan allows Keith to be more assertive, as opposed to being with Shiro and following his orders. On top of that, Kolivan goes with the "tough love" approach, and he will not hesitate to criticize him harshly. Shiro's more fatherly approach doesn't work to mold him into a leader.

Third, this temporary transfer to BoM can actually give him time to think about his identity and where he fits into all this, what with his Galra heritage and all. I have a suspicion Kolivan is linked to Keith's mother, and he'll tell him about who he actually is.

P.S.: Wasn't expecting Matt to basically be Lance 2.0, This does open up a lot of interpretation on Katie's relationship with Lance and how she sees him.

#949524 Rurouni Kenshin: Hokkaido Arc Discussion Thread

Posted by Codus N on 20 September 2017 - 09:39 PM

*Note, since the system want to be crazy with the filter, I gonna talk to Smiter to update it so we can type the new character's correctly. For now, he's going to known as Taro for a hot minute.* Strange that the new characters' names start with the later A

Hokkaido

A few things to note about this sequel:

- This Hokkaido arc is co-written by Watsuki's wife Kaoru Kurosaki, whom Kaoru is named after. (I've long suspected that RK's romance was mostly done by his wife, which is why it's so well done.)
- The Kamiya patriarch looking a lot like Isshin might be somewhat intentional. It's also a two-fold joke since he and Watsuki's wife share the same name.
- I feel like Yahiko and Taro might become closer to Kenshin and Saito in terms of their relationship. Taro might be the guy who has Yahiko's back and is willing to get dirty with blood.

Yup. It's pretty obvious too, with the way season 3 ended all of a sudden.

Yes! I'm curious about how they will handle the Lotor/Allura meeting, since that was such a key part of the original, and that attraction was the main motivation for his character. It will be interesting to see if it plays out the same, or if his interest in her is purely manipulative! Also super curious about Keith's background. This could also be a point of contention for Lotor's character development. You know, jealousy of one paladin instead of attraction for the other.

Overall, I'm really happy with Lotor's character. Not weirdly over-the-top like he was in the original (though I still liked him then). Has lots of promise to be a good villain!! I was so glad he didn't turn out to be all soft and friendly to the team! lol!

I guess I was rooting for another Part 1 Itachi!

I must be the only one hoping for them to change things up a bit by having Lotor chase after Pidge. I've seen spoilers for next season and that the Holt reunion will occur somewhere in the season. If Matt does join the crew, then Katie could grow her hair out with the help of some Altean magical hair growth serum so the crew can be sure to differentiate them. Then Lotor meets her.

With Lotor's creepy advances, it would be funny as heck that she keeps hiding behind Lance for some reason. It'd turn into a wacky love triangle which I'm all for.

Besides, Lance did call her cute when he saw her photo.

Lance: *sees Pidge with her original look* Pidge, is that you?
Pidge: Of course, it's me! You dummy!!
Lance: No, it's just that...it suits you more. You're cute, you know that?
Pidge: W-Wha!! No way!! I am not falling for it!!
Lance: Say what you want, but you can't deny that I'm a honest man when it comes to girls *grins*
Pidge: *tases Lance*
Lance: Yaargh!!

*Matt squints back and forth between Katie and Lance*

Well, good to see they're not giving a rats' ass about these dumb rabid shippers.

Same, though he did give us some NaLu content with the near-kiss and Natsu promising they'd always be together, so it's semi-confirmed.

From what I hear, the Japanese wording makes it strongly implied that Natsu reciprocates. So it's pretty much canon. Mashima wrote up a short omake introducing Haru & Elie's son in Rave, so I think it's pretty reasonable to expect an omake featuring the next gen kids.

I'd say it's something we'll have to disagree. This weeks chapter was another that shows how her methods clash with Azami's conveyor belt type chef, it showed how she traveled around the world, to learn about the different types of ingredients, (Many that are morally dubious,) going beyond normal cooking styles and techniques. Her visiting every single cooking club during the festival is another example of her appreciating multiple different styles of cooking, yet one of the first actions of the new regime was to close down all the clubs that didn't live up to Azami's standards. Again a clear conflict of interest.

Yeah this weeks chapter went a small way to explain why she did it, her being a rich socialite, but beyond that it showed how her style is a clear conflict of what Azami considers acceptable. A world with Azami's methods would be a world she would be bored in, it would be one where she wouldn't be able to sample the different ingredients she appreciates, it would be a world where everywhere she went the taste could be manufactured from the same factory.

Her being bored and wanting to stir things up, make no sense for someone who clearly thrives on the diversity of the worlds different cooking styles and the multiple ingredients that are out there. She would be the type of person who would feel the ramifications of such a regime.

On a side note, I find the mangaka's lack of care for endangered species once again disturbing, the way he wrote how as long as it doesn't affect the local eco-system, it's fine if they are made extinct. Morally find that kind of Blaisie attitude disturbing.

There were 4 people who rejected Azami's offer in E10. If Rindou had joined them, it would be a tie. I think she was likely the tie-breaker in their votes. She chose to go along with Azami precisely to stir things up. She couldn't do that if she voted against Azami. But given her attitude about his regime, it's clear she's trying to screw him in subtle, indirect ways.

As for the theme ingredient, it should be something a ramen master is more than capable of. A guy from the same kind of breed of Souma would obviously oppose Azami. The fact that he made it all the way to 3rd seat is a pretty good benchmark for Souma. It also convinces me even more that the line-up of Megishima, Erina, and Souma is the best line-up to take on the 2nd and 1st seats.

Anyone here a New Yorker? Ever heard of Ivan Ramen? I watched Ivan's Chef's Table episode and the one thing I can gather from it is that being a ramen chef is pretty flexible. The way I see it, to truly stand out among thousands of ramen chefs in Japan like Ivan would require a balance of skill/taste and vision/creativity. And that's what Erina and Souma stand for respectively, while Megishima can balance both of them out.

Given that Jellal and Erza are the two most ridiculous characters given plot - this was just as garbage as anything that's happened thus far. I'm not going to label it a "pleasant surprise" given the quality of what happened.

Jellal isn't even half as bad. After all, there's only one instance that I can count off my head that constitutes an asspull attributed to his character, whereas the latter has dozens with the author coming up with a lame excuse for them. As much as you hate Jellal, trust me he ain't got nothing on Sauce.

#933200 Fairy Tail

That's not true entirely. The writing surrounding Erza and Gray has been atrocious. Silver's very existence was an asspull, and the writing surrounding him was terrible, especially when Gray tried to blame Natsu for what happened to his family. I don't need to bother going into detail with Erza.

It's not so much an asspull as it is convenient. Mashima definitely planned giving Gray an upgrade to his magic ever since ToH. If he wanted to do it through Silver, that's fine by me. The important thing to note about Silver's storyline is that it had gradual build-up throughout the Tartaros arc, whereas Eileen literally had none.

Gray was blaming E.N.D., the entity, not Natsu himself. How was he supposed to know Natsu was E.N.D.?

I'd pick Silver's story over Eileen any day. Also, I consider Eileen's background story as part of "battle scenes" since it plays directly into the fight.

This chapter also makes me wish that instead of the cop-out we got from Eileen, Acnologia should've killed her when she was about to kill Erza.

Eillen's "change of heart" could've been handled this way: Acnologia stabs her from behind, but Eilleen uses the last of her strength to teleport Erza and Wendy away not because she cares for them, but out of pure pragmatism. Because she knows that if she dies, at the very least there should be someone who can continue the fight against Acnologia.

She could also implant her memory about the ins and outs of enchanting dragon slaying magic to both of them, revealing unknown secrets as well.

Personally, Sakura Natsumi Dragneel has a really nice sound to it. It's also a reference to perhaps the moment Lucy started falling in love with Natsu. (The Rainbow Sakura, anyone?)
