Wow. Just...wow. I didn't even know that happened. I'm speechless.

Don't read too much into it.
On the morning of Wednesday, April 11th, 2012, my Aunt Karla passed away. She was my mother's baby sister, and my coolest aunt when I was a kid. She was the best babysitter ever, and she was like an older sister to me.

Karly, I don't know if you can hear this. I am not a believer, I haven't been since Sheryl died. But if you can, I want you to know that I'm truly sorry for everything bad I've ever said about you. When you were suffering, I should have been there to help you. I should have visited. I should have encouraged you to leave the house and get a job, to be active and alive the way you used to be.

I promise that I will do everything that I can to be successful and a good person, to make you proud the way you would have wanted me to. No matter what I said, I loved you. And I will always love you. Rest in Peace, you will never be forgotten.

I mean he is not some sort of hypnotic sorcerer who summons people the world over to do these things, first of all. The point of the show is to find things on the internet to poke fun at, shock humor. And the "lightly touching women's stomachs" thing was little more than a harmless prank, a mild annoyance for giggles. The only people I can possibly think of who would see that as sexual assault are overly sensitive lunatics. You can bet that if the genders were reversed on the "touching women's stomachs" bit, nobody would say a word. But if the genders were reversed on the video he reviewed, it would have lasted on youtube for no more than 30 minutes. And if by some trickster god miracle it did remain up, if Tosh showed it on his show, Tosh.0 would have been canceled on the spot and Comedy Central would have had a hefty lawsuit on their hands.

The only people who are offended by those videos are ones who are looking for something to be offended about. And if anyone watching those videos thinks Daniel Tosh condones rape because of them, then I have to say, I can't even imagine the raging storm of propaganda that must be whirling in their heads all day.

First off, lay off the attitude. You should never touch person you don't know, unless you are helping them up after a fall, or something like that. That's not even what's I'm blown away at. Did you completely ignore the fact that he showed and commented on a video that included one boy raping another with a dildo? For comedy? I'm "looking for something to be offended about"? Are you sure?

Yeah, and by that same logic, no woman should ever touch a man she doesn't know. But we see it happen every day, casual or otherwise. Raped? Raped would imply penetration. Do you know what sodomy actually entails? If that kid was actually raped, he would have been bleeding and in pain. What he did wasn't rape, it was a childish shot at embarrassment. Yes, you are looking for something to be offended about. If that was actually a rape, and if any of the parties involved actually considered it a rape, then the video would have never seen the light of day. Not for long, anyway. And like I said, if the genders were reversed, even as a joke, you would have never seen that episode air.

And do you seriously think Tosh didn't know the women in those videos? Let me explain something to you. The cameras they use? They're massive. And the lighting is blaring and hot. They knew they were being filmed, for one reason or another. Likely, they were people around the office or the set. And if they weren't, there is such a thing as a release statement. A person's face can only be shown on TV if a release form is signed. Not only were they clearly not hurt or offended, but they opted to allow their faces to be shown on TV for it. And I guarantee you that all of that legal documentation goes down the channels of Youtube as well. Youtube has a fair-use agreement, meaning that the material in your videos, if it is yours, becomes the property of Youtube and Google and can be used by other users. They wouldn't need the people's permission, just Google's. Which I'm sure they happily relinquish for a price.

Yeah the whole man/woman thing was a slip, and I fixed it. And really? Bleeding has to happen for it to be considered rape? Rape is sex without consent of one or more of the parties involved. Sticking a dildo into some one's ass is sex. And that actually happened. So yes, it's rape. And why are you still going on about the stomach thing? I already told you, that wasn't even really the reason why I was offended.

No, but penetration does. And in terms of sodomy, ordinarily, that's going to end in bleeding for someone who hasn't had it happen before. No part of that was sex or rape. It was a prank, and immature rough housing. If it was considered rape by any of the parties involved, once again, it would have been pulled from all digital hosting sources and never allowed to air on this show. Or do you not realize that Comedy Central has an army of lawyers with an air-tight legal grasp on the dos and don'ts of these things? You're complaining about something that has been seen in countless Jackass films that hit mainstream theaters.

Well, in my opinion, dwindling too much on what he says during the show is an honest waste of time. As of now, he has yet to see any repercussion for the joke. Daniel Tosh usually rips on other forms of society; i'm a bit baffled as to why this is receiving so much attention. When dealing with Tosh, expect him to say that kind of kitten and joke about taboo things; thats sort of his 'forte' as a comedian. But, he should still apologize if people where really pissed off.

yeah, but the problem was it wasn't a joke. He stopped being the comedian when he used the stage to threaten rape against a heckler. It's not about whether he's funny or not, or whether people are over-reacting to a "joke"...because it simply wasn't a joke. He departed from his routine to incite violence against this girl.

It would be interesting to see the numbers whether acts of sexual violence against women often originate with some sort of group approval like this situation. If everyone laughs, it makes it seem more acceptable and less heinous...and less illegal...and basically giving the green light to future opportunists when the opportunity arises.

On another note, I won't be watching Tosh on Comedy Central anymore. If this is his unguarded, unscripted response to a fairly non-threatening audience member, then I feel like most of his raunchy sex jokes are probably a outlet for agression. Not comedy.

EXACTLY. Which is why I still can't believe there are people around who still think it was actually a threat. That is absurd.

Yes, it was a joke. And you have no business saying otherwise. Just because she, or you, didn't take it as a joke doesn't mean it wasn't. It was. And what you're playing on here is called the slippery slope fallacy. It's not a green light for anything. It doesn't make the act acceptable, any more than jokes about murder make murder acceptable. And if you think that's the effect, then show some hard numbers for a correlation, or it's nothing more than paranoid conjecture.

Things are starting to get nasty again, and I am already regretting reopening the thread.

This time, it stays permanently shut.
