If they made Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy like this, it would have been the best FPS game of all time, hands down.

I'm gonna disagree with you slightly because, World of Warcraft was Blizzard's first MMO, and look how that turned out.

I thought about that while I was replying, but remember while Diablo isn't an a full scale mmorpg, it's still an "mmo"..and they worked on the warcraft lore for ages..so I think they had and advantage.

Mmm... I just wanted to correct you here... Diablo & Diablo II were not "MMO"s... or at least that's what most people who play MMO's think...

Of course the term MMO can be completely subjective... since "Massively" is a pretty loose term... so it's not like you're wrong. However, when the word MMO comes up... MMO-gamers (I don't know what to call them...) think of a online game in a persistent world. Diablo & Diablo II were just RPGs you would play over and over again with people online (and were allowed to carry over your stuff & levels from previous playthroughs).

There have also been pretty successful first MMORPGs by companies in the past... I can't think of anything recent right now... but the big three of the 90s (Asheron's Call, Everquest, and UO) were all "firsts" by their respective companies (Turbine, Verant, Origin).
Pretty bored.

While I will like too agree with you on that part (I myself playu it because of the lore) the real reason Wow is so successful is probably because of it's players-friendly gameplay.

I didn't say it was an MMORPG, I said it was massively multilayer and online.

It's a lot like Phantasy Star Online.

I didn't say MMORPG either.

Any MMOG is in a persistent world. That's the difference between a game being "MMO" and just "Online Multiplayer".

Ok, just to correct you also. The whole Star Wars universe has more established lore then Warcraft easily. Since Return of the Jedi came out in the theaters, they've been having Extended Universe has had hundreds of books, not to mention an encyclopedia of starships, planets, races, and the Jedi.

Granted.

But the previous Star Wars MMORPG is probably the worst online game to have ever been produced. Good Job Sony. My Original point was that Bioware hasn't stepped up to the MMO platform yet...Just don't hold your breath.

But then I have to also bring back my original point that Warcraft was Blizzard's first venture in the whole MMORPG field and it seems to be working for them. So, I'm waiting and seeing, instead of being a negative Nancy.

If it's like past Beta's that I've applied for, there are a series of mass mailings. One is to say thank you for the interest, but you weren't what they were looking for. The other will say congratulations, you'll have a package coming in the mail.
