Naruto's Feelings Pre-459: Shocked or not?

As for what I felt, I was a tiny bit surprised. It was short though. I then thought "Well the sadness and selflessness of the Promise of a Lifetime makes a lot more sense now." But at the matter of it, was Naruto's love for Sakura very easy to tell? Or was it really not?

I always thought of Narutos feelings as actual love ever since the hospital scene and the POAL back in part 1. True love should be selfless, just like Narutos love for Sakura, the fact that he would put her happiness before his own is proof of true love.
As for the bolded... I always thought of Hinatas feelings for Naruto to be more like a crush or admiration of Naruto. It is definitely not on the same level as Narutos love for Sakura IMO.

Now, I'm not sure about the translation specifics, or how much an 11-year-old knows about romantic love, but I believe the point was to make it clear that Naruto's feelings for Sakura were deep and serious.
So no, I wasn't the least bit surprised when we saw Sai's flashback that confirmed it.

I mean, I've never had a crush and felt THAT bad when I realized they liked someone else (then again, I wonder if I've ever had a serious crush) Naruto's feelings were above a crush at that point and only deepened throughout part 2.
Sig made by me though. XD

I still found it ironic though that even though Naruto knows she loves Sasuke he still asked her out on a date.

Iif Kishi meant ch 3 to show that Naruto truly loved Sakura, he failed, at least with me. Naruto's actions in that chapter are very childish and creepy, he has to pretend to be someone else just to get close to Sakura. He realizes his "love" when almost smooching her. That sounds very shallow to me. I consider it possible that Naruto's crush later developed into genuine love.

I actually give credit to Kishimoto for making Naruto act his age in that scene and other scenes in the early manga. I like it when authors do not forget their characters being children and do not make them ridiculously clever and experienced.

Yeah, it's not a bad thing that he was being childish and shallow, especially considering his later development. I feel the same way about Sakura's early crush on Sasuke and about her treatment of Naruto. They don't really annoy me because they felt natural and she later grew out of them into more mature love and treating Naruto better.

Anyway, I always knew he's in love. He always love her in the beginning but that doesn't mean he was matured. His old tactics were foolish and backfired him by making Sasuke "cooler". He was immatured, but his feelings remain truthful. It was the hospital scene that got me feel upset because thanks to Naruto's development, I already grown to care for him. That's the thing about Naruto, he matures himself, but not change himself. His feelings remain the same. You can't say about him and Sasuke because it's already established that he does care and saw him as rival since the beginning. Actually, he did when he lost to Sasuke the very first time. Kuruma wasn't kidding about him setting that target will never go away.

*Chuckle* I wasn't surprised. It was obvious to me from when he made it. He wanted Sakura's happiness, and understood the pain she is going through because it is a pain he knows very well. I'm talking about the fact that he's giving up his happiness for her. He knows that love can cut and scar very deeply, so that promise shows he is VERY devoted to her. I was only surprised that Sakura never figured it out her self, because she could tell that Hinata had feelings for Naruto which made it all the more ironic.

Anyone saying NaruSaku died, its not, naruto did not give up on the promise, he just has more reason for rescuing Sasuke now. One NaruHina fan said, "Naruto told her it had nothing to do with the promise so he gave up on it." I told this one fan, then this would imply Naruto broke his nindo long long ago, he would have given up on so much more. When Sai told Sakura how Naruto was beaten and followed the Raikage, Shizune did comment saying how Naruto was following Sasuke for other reasons from the start (the brotherhood bond), Naruto again states during the team 7 reunion in the iron country how could he be hokage if he could not save one friend, and he understands Sasuke's pain.
Naruto is rescuing Sasuke for the promise to Sakura and himself if anything. Only when Sasuke is back does Naruto feel he can be hokage and confess to Sakura, not to mention he wants to save Sasuke from revenge, protect his brotherhood relation with him, bring the "family" back because Sakura and Sasuke for the real first friends he ever had and who acknowledged his existence (Sasuke just did not acknowledge his talent and still has not).
If anything, Kishi could be leading us away again, I mean remember what happened with Tobi and Madara? We thought Kabuto's trump card could have been something terrible like The sage of the six paths or Minato. He has done that many times before, even with Itachi, we thought he was evil for the longest time until we saw he was doing his duty.

His feelings for Sakura are so beautiful...
When 459 happened, I was just glad that they were re-confirmed. Even though anti-NS seems to believe that because it was a flashback, it no longer applies...
Eh. Of course it still applies. Or else there was no reason for it.

But now that he's admitted his love anew, my mind is at ease.
