Well, I made a topic to discuss all things disney (except the Teen shows etc. if we can avoid that).

 

PS: All the folks who are regulars at my topics (not the apretiation topics) should know what these are about.

I kinda had the more disney-ish disney thing in mind but ok.

 

I`ve seen it, liked it but thats about it. I watch it if its on.

I'm really hooked on Frozen. Tangled is a nice try, but Frozen is gold.

I listen to 'Let it Go' multi-language the whole time. x)

My faves are Swedish, Danish and Mandarin. The voices and texts are awesome.

I don't like it as much in my own language, because the voice is too light for Elsa, I don't like my own language(lol),

especially not the capital/eastern accent. Plus the translation was crappy because the melody wouldn't fit otherwise.

I just can't find a good audio in Mandarin : (

You don`t like tangled? Too bad. I really liked the film, for the story, the characters (my new ship) and the horse (hardcore).

 

Same with frozen, epic story, new ship, awesome characters.

 

If you look really closely when they open the gates Repunzel and Eugene are there. But it`s like a 1.5 sec cameo.

That's a good theory. And I didn't dislike Tangled, it's a 7/10. Just not something I would watch twice, and it didn't compare to Frozen.

 

Edit; And no sequals, no milking please. I've seen Disney sequals..ugh. Besides, unlike stories such as Pocahontas where she actually married the second man irl, these fairy tales are over.

Hey a frozen sequal is completely plausible and doable since it was an open ending. They have lots of story oppurtunities.

 

Am I the only one that has this obsession switch that makes me just look up everything regarding a movie/show. And I accept any and all sequals. Simply to see the charatcters again. That`s just me thou. I don`t care if they make a sequel of Repunzel and Eugene doing laundry I would be happy with it

I was a huge Disney fan when I was a little girl. My parents would get me as many of the movies on VHS as they could; I had a big collection of all of the classics. Frozen I absolutely loved and was genuinely surprised at. Tangled kind of shot down my expectations for newer stuff, because I really wasn't a fan of it. It was cute I suppose, but the story and style felt shallow. I wasn't crazy about Rapunzel as a character who was meant to be the charming, quirky, every-girl with 101 talents, but that's just me. I did like the healing incantation song and the Kingdom dance. Flynn Rider was amusing, some scenes were nicely done, but it was mostly forgettable for me. Anna was supposed to be 'like Rapunzel' but they did a far better job with her in my opinion. 

 

Hunchback of Notre Dame is my favourite Disney movie, and does the 'outcast in the tower being held captive by an evil parental figure' a whole lot better. It's not the most kid-friendly movie, but the story is excellent and brings up a lot of themes that are quite surprising for Disney. That soundtrack is one of the best, too. 

 

They're revisiting Sleeping Beauty with the new Maleficent movie... I don't know how to feel about it, I'll definitely watch it but Elle Fanning as Aurora? I do like Lana del Rey's version of Once Upon a Dream, it's, dare I say it... dreamy.

Tangled and Frozen are kind of similar... With the whole 'girl stuck in a closed place for years and years and finally coming out in to the world to go on adventures and fall in love'?

 

I feel like I'm the only one that noticed that. They were two really sweet movies though ;p

Oh, I agree. I like Frozen, but it's being billed as the best ever and it's just not. I thought the Snowman was out of place and poor Hanz was on the wrong of the most unexplained plot twists ever.

Was thinking about how Disney movies would be if they ended like Naruto, hahah.

 

Beauty and the Beast: On the rooftop of the Beast's castle, Belle suddenly realizes her feelings for Gaston amidst the fight between Gaston and the Beast. Gaston then takes Belle back to the village to be his wife and we find out that Belle and the Beast simply had a brother/sister relationship throughout the film.

 

Aladdin: Jasmine falls head over heels for Prince Ali due to his wealth and power and never finds out that he was really just a street rat.

Yes I do because it was traditional animation, and while I do enjoy cg it's always nice to see something refreshing. Also the song that Dr. Facilier sings was the best the color scheme during his song I got friends on the other side, just gave me chills. Everything was so vibrant and breath taking, plus as a fellow card reader I instantly fell in love. I also really love the fact that a character actually died, I know it sounds mean but Disney can just save the day with magic but in this case it didn't happen, and that just added to how awesome this movie was. It gave it so much more character, and it already had tons of it.
