Yea Naruto's lack of control is because of the Kyuubi's chakra mixing with his. some of his chakra is always going back to the seal to regulate the mixing, thus causeing unstable chakra flow.

As for the The Ichibi, it attacks the hosts mind, Gamabunta said as much. I would have to assume that each of the tailed beasts have major draw backs.

Also a cell's lifespan is determined by its telomere. every time the cell divides, the telomere gets shorter, until it disappears and the cell stops dividing. Now if i remember correctly, the only type of cells that don't have Telomeres are Nerve Cells(which don't divide thus severed nerves don't heal) and Stem Cells(which divid forever and become everyother type of cell)

jim- Hehe, thank you for that. I was really sounding like I was bsing the biology of my last post (and I pretty much was, hehe). I guess in the case of Heroes, Claire and Adam's telomeres never shorten or the shortening stops after a point or something. Heroes needs to determine the limits of their powers.

Vyse- Yeah, I get that. Although so far there are few times where he was actively in control of the Kyuubi, even with Jiraiya's training. The majority involves Naruto getting flaming pissed and the Kyuubi spurring him into a mindless frenzy.

My point is that, Kishimoto set things up so that the presence of Kyuubi does not make Naruto all powerful. In fact it makes him "weaker" than the average academy student in the sense that he needs to control two opposing chakra sources not one. Apparently this was not Academy curriculum, probably because of Sandaime's law, and Naruto got screwed.

Even without knowing about Yondaime's key, which is relatively new and not many fics out there will have incorporated it, writers should at least do a little reading back in the manga to make his sudden strength a little more plausible. But these stories are wish fulfillment types so maybe I ask for too much.

I LOVE overpowered Naruto fics! That's why he is overpowered in my story, but for a legit reason.

I guess the reason I like them so much is because I see all these stories that make him weaker than he really is and than a total emo retard who gets depressed about killing some random ninja and then thinking about his family.

I really have a thing about people turning Naruto into a complete b!tch. It irritates me when I see fics where he lets the villagers beat him up, does anything for Sakura agreeing to be her friend with benefits, and let's people actually rape him!

As long as they show how he got stronger, and say he isn't invincible I'm fine with it. But people have a tendency to really destroy his character by making him so weak, and it just irks me.

thats not a bad reasoning. I don't mind overpowered Naruto as much, just as long as he does not become a complete opposite of his personality. So, many times I have read fics where Naruto is an overpowered Sasuke with the complete baggage as well

As long as Naruto is in character and becomes strong, then I am not complaining.

Well, the phrase overpowered itself suggests that the author has gone overboard already.

I generally hate super-powerful Naruto, because a lot of times it is as Leney said, wish fulfillment on behalf of the author. In other words, he is the authors favorite character and they want him to do well. They want him to be strong when he was weak, to better than Sasuke and get all the girls the author likes while putting the others (Sakura most of the time) in their place. Problem is, most of the time this ends up removing many of his struggles and the things that, well, made him Naruto.

It's hard to feel sorry for a Naruto who has morphed into Sasuke or who is insulting and bashing everyone around. The things that might have justified such behavior are gone and he is just an ass at that point. I really don't like it when authors use their stories to get revenge on his behalf and super-naruto is almost always a part of them.

Moreover, a lot of time. the strength is not realistically set up. He possess power that would make even Itachi wet his pants, which means there is no one who can realistically stand up to him and your left with one-sided fights. There is no struggle or drama to drive the fic. What's the point of reading something where everything surronding Naruto feels inevitable from the get go.

And in the end, he no longer resembles the character I like. I like Kishi's Naruto. The super powered version robs him of those traits that made him that Naruto.

What about fics where Naruto is super powered, BUT remains in character for the most part, but he isn't just some pushover who let's people insult him and stuff.

I like super powered Naruto fics only if he doesn't become into Sasuke. As for fights, I think even if he is super powered and has a whole bunch of jutsu and techniques, his inexperience in battle can count for something. There are a lot of older shinobi out there who have more experience and can be a match for him. Ex. Pein, Uchiha Madara, Jiraiya, Tsunade, Kakashi, etc;


I don't like super powered fics where he can beat people in like 5 seconds. I like ones where he struggles with his new power and learns how to use it, either be good or evil. Also, seeing him go up against the strongest characters in the series. We all know that he is going to be overpowered in the end of the manga after all of his struggles.

As long as he isn't OOC and is powerful, I approve. :thumbs:
