Yeah cause lets be real if authors write love triangles it will most likely suck. lol

Just do it comedy. It will be less sufferable.

Well unfortunately, the only love comedy you see in most manga/anime is slapstick and tsundere oriented. -__- I personally am a bit tired of it

If you ask me, tsundere is a Shounen thing and when you end with shoujo thing, depends on the protagonist, it only screams wrong target. I don't know, if you're in Shounen without romance being in the main plot, you better get ready to explain everything you got.

I prefer obvious pairings, because the characters will be safe from pathetic attempt at drama as well as keep the story flow.

 

I'd be OK with love triangles if they were done well, but in most cases they are done badly, it's always lobsided, it's hardly ever a balanced arena, you'll know the person the Mc will choose dispite very often it will be the other girl (or girls) that try harder and are more suitable for him, and so often the girl that gets picked is selfish in her demands from the MC, where the other girls are trying hard to walk beside the MC, and helping them out.

 

It's so bad that in many cases now I'd prefer a Harem ending than ending with just one girl in these situations. because I know the girl I dislike the most will likely win.

I liked the series but it wasn't my couple that won out. :( Oh well at least that was one of the better harem series where the mc at least mans up and makes his preference clear in the end. And as far as I remember he at least doesn't act like one girl is supposed to be his friggin soulmate or whatever and giving her infuriating preference, plus being like he is supposed to be her boyfriend but never even did a damn thing about it. I look at you Nisekoi and to~LOVE~ru.

But yeah anyway i just enjoy Fairy Tails romance cause they are not dramatizing it just letting the teases flow out and giving potential couples small development

Actually, shojo manga used the trope earlier than shonen manga. Rose of Versailles got published in 1971 (one year before Mazinger-Z introduced the first tsundere main character). And there are older shojo manga with tsundereish female characters.

Got it. Just think I see it more often in Shounen like guys getting their ass kicked by the lady. I'm used to it in my life. Lol.

But seriously, it's often that I see it there. I usually see shoujo having the girl being swayed by the guy who is like a lone wolf, but she keeps doing things reckless or what not and the guy goes like "Sigh...Here. I'll help..." Something like that. I haven't read much shoujo.

I think that's modern shoujo trope.
Old shcool shoujo guy tend to be Prince Charming type.

Gray isn't really evil, just put his priority more than anything. Like he's not out there to kill Natsu or anyone. Just that he invaded the guild that are morally evil itself. So it hasn't hit that level of "forget Gray!" or anything.

I didn't finish watching the anime as it didn't keep my interest for long. That was the one where the MC doesn't end up with the first girl he shows interest in right? It turns out they decide their relationship is better suited as a friendship than romance or something like that? I remember thinking it was an interesting take on the genre, and tried watching/reading it, but really could not get into it. It was a shame as it sounded really interesting, but the journey to the end was not something I could put up with...atleast at the time, might give it another go.

You should read the manga. The anime don't do justice.
Well, the romance in this manga is love triangle in harem setting.
It's a balance love triangle.
Yes, he doesn't end with the first heroine, but second heroine has the same importance with first heroine.
Both of them featuring in the first chapter and first volume cover. That mean both the heroine will be important.

He become a kitten, in order to protect those he love. Or something like that.
I don't think he will become a dark person for long time.
The guild of fairy tail will be back before the final war.
