I can't imagine any mom leaving her son alone like that. I believe Kushina is definatly dead.

In the end this moment could be twisted into a number of views, i'll go with my first reaction and say that it is purely pro NS. I can't see any other direction being taken this close to the end of the manga tbh. We'll have to wait and see obviously.....i'm pretty confident though, and this chapter was definatly a nice boost for me...

Just wish we didn't have to wait an extra week for a new chapter!

Yeah, well, I saw some people taking paragraphs to try and explain why this isn't NaruSaku, how it means that he's giving up on her, and how it doesn't mean anything because the flashback took place before her confession. I don't know how true that last one is, but even if it is, the fact remains that Naruto still loves Sakura.

So yes, I consider a very good moment for NS. After all, you'd think that the main character's feelings are what counts the most right?

I think people are simply getting their hopes up about it being before Hinata's confession (which, honestly, really wouldn't mean all that much, but whatever). I think the theory is wrong, though, it was mentioned in one of the spoilers that Naruto was already beaten by Karui.

After the confession? It seemed to me that the flashback was from right before he left.... guess we'll see. I don't know any other time they would have had for a talk like that.

Me, I feel for Naruto. It seems like the goal he's going for will be impossible to achieve. Especially when there are people stubborn out there like the Raikage who do not want to change from the old ways. It just means that Naruto might have to work harder.

I do hope Sakura eventually confesses to Naruto, because we've seen how her feelings have changed for him. She now seems to really love him, while she sees Sasuke in more of a platonic love.

Yeah I agree. Its so easy to forget where's he coming from and the magnitude of what he's trying to do, especially when you're surrounded by people claiming that Naruto's a pussy and a fag (forgive my language, no offense meant) and whatever other degrading words they can think of. Seriously, there are literally pages and pages of people moaning about how he's sunk so low and that his character has been utterly ruined and can never recover.

While I wasn't ecstatic with the way he's doing things, I certainly don't think that crying or bowing makes him any less of a man. He's just now trying to figure this out, and all people want are violence and/or instant results. Never mind the fact they'd all probably jump on Kishi or Naruto's case about being a gary stu in that case. rolleyes.gif Never mind the fact that they'd probably have given up way before Naruto did if they were in his place. dry.gif

Honestly, I think that this is just a transition phase, and once Naruto gets a better idea of how he's going to do things, he'll get back on the ball. I'm going to wait and see how this plays out.

Also, I'm really hoping that we get a solid confirmation on Sakura's feelings. I know its not really important to the plot overall, but I just really want to know. With each teaser that Kishi gives to us, I get more excited. This is the first time I've shipped a pair that seems likely to become cannon. wow.png

Exactly! Naruto is just trying so hard to figure out how he wants to prevent more hatred as well as to protect Sasuke, in spite of Sasuke not being the same person he knew. He really knows he's in over his head, yet he's still trying because he knows that he has to, in spite of his being less about action. Besides, Naruto went through a lot in the battle with Pain, that it opened his eyes more to what he feels he's gotta do by trying to change the ninja world, even if there are people like the Raikage who do not want change and just want quick results and the old methods. But we also have seen people like Granny Chiyo who see that their ways have failed.

I also look forward to a NaruSaku moment too as well as a solid confirm! We've seen how much concern Sakura has shown for Naruto in Shippuden so far (even more it seems than for Sasuke pre-time skip at times), and how far she's been willing to go to help him (when she charged four-tailed Naruto and told him he didn't need to bring Sasuke home and how she'd do it).

Should probably hold off on rival fandom talk....

Anyway concerning the spoiler pics.....well the one with Sai thinking of talking to Naruto was pretty intersting. Naruto on the ground like that was pathetic though, I understand what he is trying to do, but if he wants to be Hokage he will have no respect if he willingly gets on his knees for a traitor. Other ninja villages would walk all over him and destroy the leaf.

Correct. He needs to start building his reputation now so it is easier for him to be the hokage and if the world knew he had a weak spot for Sasuke then they could all get Sasuke to pretend to be turned 180 degress and love konoha again. Eventually get Naruto to drop his guard and kill him then finally they would destroy Konoha.

Come on Naruto. I know its hard and im not even saying you have to forget Sasuke, but dont bow for him just state you would like for him to be forgiven. Like a man though im not trying to bash him im just stating he should not bow anymore.

As they say, yet another nail to the coffin. A few more steps a few more chapters maybe we'll have an end for all this shipping non-sense. Or will we? I mean HP still has shipping wars and the series has been concluded for years.

That's whe happened in the Harry Potter series and wars. I think it subsided a little bit but it is still active and since Naruto has a larger fandom (I think) this site and many other shippin' sites will have a long time till they become outdated.

Kishimoto has continually emphasized the bond Naruto and Sasuke have. Sasuke is a traitor, but he and Naruto's competitiveness really shaped who they are. I don't like Sasuke either but I can understand why Naruto does these things for him. Id take a beating for my brother. And hes trying to break the chain of hate or whatever so this is just who he is. Hes not pitiful, hes admirable.

And shipping wars never end, when NaruSaku happens they just won't accept it.But who cares!

The problem though is that it wasn't exactly easy to swallow the whole "bond of brothers" thing. It's always seemed like we heard people talk about this supposed "bond" more than we actually saw it. It wasn't built very well either, because when that whole "bond" was brought up later it was a bit of an eyebrow raising moment.

You could chalk it up to poor development on Kishi's part, but the "bond of brothers" thing was never one of the things about Part 1 that I ever truly bought, no matter how much it was talked up. It's always come off to me as one of those things we were told about a lot but never truly shown to any believable degree. I'd take a hit for my brother too, but at the same time it never feels like Kishi made the bond believable.

Also, another thing to consider is at what point do you have to admit that even family may have gone too far? Parents are one thing, but siblings are usually the first ones to see all too clearly how things have gone for a bad seed of a sibling. Sasuke pulled the equivalent of deserting your platoon for the other side and leaving them to die, to give a real world parallel. I can't see too many families being too eager to just forget something like that; siblings anyways.

The whole thing has been something that I personally have needed to heap on mountains of suspension of disbelief to roll with.

QUOTE

Getting down on your knees and groveling is not usually the best way to break the chain of hate, much less earn respect. It's more likely to get you laughed at.

Goals can be admirable; the path to them doesn't always have to be. It's not a stretch for someone to think Naruto is acting kind of pitifully.
