Well, as the title stats I have a little theory on chapter 450 and I wanted to explain it and show everyone how NaruSaku biased I am. *laughs*

This is the page I will mainly be referring to; Chapter 450, page 6.

The thing is, when I read the hug scene I had a funny feeling on how Kishimoto had draw the panels (Did you also noticed it?). I mean, everyone was happy and thankful to him; Iruka so proud because the lonely child had finally won the acknowledgement he had longged so much for; we saw Hinata crying relieved because he was safe and Sakura, who felt deep relief and gratitude (calling him rash while hitting him because she was so worried, and hugging him touched because he hoped for him to come and save the day and that's exactly what he did).

We saw a such display of emotions on everyone part, and yet, on such an important time for Naruto what we got to see of Naruto's reaction?

Nothing.

The most we got to see Naruto's shock just before Sakura's hug. And it's not 'till several pages later that he appears visiting Tsunade and finding out about her condition. It got me thinking isn't it funny we didn't get to see Naruto's expresion or read Naruto's thoughs on the situation at all?

Now, if we see page 6 of the chapter we realize something: we don't get to see Naruto's reaction but everyone else do so (excep Sakura, and Kakashi?). Even thou I'm deprived of any direct evidence on the matter I suspect he's not just shocked the entire time about it but also somehow happy about everyone recognition, and deeply touched and even embarrased? by Sakura's undeniable act of affection towards him.

So I suppose my point is What was Naruto's reacction to Sakura's hug?

Whatever it may be it was showed to everyone but us. It was showed to Hinata.

Thanks to recent chapters we do know now for certain that Naruto loves Sakura. We also know Hinata loves Naruto. And here is when I think an important factor comes to play: timing. It's important because this scene happened just after Hinata's spectacular confessiĆ³n.

And if you look at the Hinata's expresion to the hug (the next first frame) her reaction is subtly different from everyone else's. Yes, it's true everyone's smiling, but Hinata is not just smiling; she's thinking deeply about something as implied by the suspension points in that word balloon.

Maybe Hinata has understood something? Maybe she has already understood her feeling's are unrequited?

It's nothing sure but to me Hinata's smile in that page is somehow different from everyone else, I don't know very well how to describe it, it kind of reminds me of the sad smiles Naruto gives Sakura so often.

I could see this leading to the moment Naruto will have to finally answer Hinata. I can see clearly Naruto trying to say something, finding it difficult, and Hinata cutting him off and replying with a "I know." and getting a flashback seeing Naruto's face when Sakura's hugged him.

I hope I made myself clear, english isn't my mother language =)

You make some good points, but there's a thread for discussing stuff like that.

Well, I have to say, for English not being your mother language, you conveyed that pretty darn well, I have to say. And you did make quite a few valid points! I actually hope your prediction is true!

You did fine, and for the most part I concur with your assessment.

I hypothesize in my story Where I stood much the same premise.

the only thing i slightly disagree with is Hinatas expression. while her smile is soft and maybe a little bittersweet. It is her eyes which are more important. If you cantrast a similar moment for Naruto where sakura hugs Sasuke after Tsunade heals him we see Naruto with similar smile but with his eyes in a pained expression.

Hinatas eyes though in this moment are wide open and bright. In anime and manga in a moment when a person is sad they are shown with darkend eyes or their eyes in shade and usualy closed or narrowed. to express being closed off or in pain.

But Hinatas are bright and open as if shes totaly in acceptance of the moment. I agree she is clearly thinking some thought which has not been revealed at this moment but she is most certianly not sad in point off act I would argue she is clealy happy as evidenced by her expression which is shown in a single panel to emphasize her expression and feelings at the moment

I actually think Hinata's '...' was extended from her former thoughts. Before those panels she was seen thinking 'thank God he's ok' or something like that, correct? I think the '...' was just because her thought moved from being relieved he was alright, to being happy that his teammate was there for him when he returned. Her smile reaches her eyes, and it shows she is truly happy for Naruto getting the respect and love from the village that he deserves, and probably also realizing the closeness between he and his teammate.

It is interesting that Naruto's reaction isn't shown, though. To me it could be for a couple reasons. 1. His reaction is the expected surprise and doesn't need to be shown because it is obvious 2. Sakura's reaction is the most important. I believe it to be the second reason because it was a big panel dedicated to Sakura's face. So really, it's a very much a NaruSaku dedicated moment kishi made. The expression on Sakura's face matters A LOT, regardless of what others will try to say tongue.gif

Sakura's reaction is important, but I think Naruto's expression is also very important, so why didn't he show Naruto's face?
I think Kishi didn't show him because if he made Naruto apear happy because of the hug, he could be losing Naruto fans that are NaruHina fans.
By the way, your english is great happy.gif

SO, why would he care about those fans that view them online? He has many more wear that comes from actaully.

I think that Nh fans should be a fan of the story first then the fan parings. That what I do at least.

I agree. More detail is gone into drawing Sakura's pained relief than anyone else's reaction.

I doubt Kishi is worried about losing fans. He writes a Shonuen. Romance is nice, but not the top priority for the teenage boy/young adult male demographic.
