Okay here's a bit of fun. and this is optional. Not to mention I know this is not actual data But...

 

Anyone want to find anime couples similar to Naruto X Sakura and see what Hinata Hierophants' thoughts are on them? One meta (lol) example already brought up is Ryuji and Taiga from Toradora. Although Ryuji is not much like Naruto at all, but still. Gotta know how many actually love Asta X Noelle from Black Clover actually. (I certainly do) the dynamic is pretty similar, minus the Sasuke part of the love triangle. 

Hanamichi- Haruko- Rukawa(Slam Dunk) = Naruto- Sakura- Sasuke

Hanamichi x Haruko x Rukawa is a good showcase of love triangle in a shounen manga. It's not overly complicated and it's not overused, but darn, how I yearned for Hanamichi to win Haruko's heart.

The author (Takehiko Inoue) really did well holding "show don't tell" principles for a manga. I humbly think only few artists can pull it off. I always re-read the manga again from time to time (Slam Dunk), and I always got that nostalgic feelings (always teared up at "I'll be waiting..." I won't spoil for those who haven't read yet). Great fiction indeed and part of that greatness is to leave enough rooms for readers to wanting more...

It's the other way around. Haruko Akagi said those to Hanamichi Sakuragi at the end of the series, implying she reciprocate Sakuragi's feeling and making a full circle to the story.

The romance subplot in Slam Dunk is not a cheap romance. It's built up throughout the journey of the protagonist. Like any good storytelling, what's more important is the journey, not the goal/destination.

Throughout the journey, you can comprehend that the love interest (Haruko) slowly but surely get closer to the protagonist (Sakuragi) without realising it. At the same time, Haruko slowly realised that her crush to the anti-hero/protagonist rival (Rukawa) was just a shallow crush.

It's shown throughout the journey without overusing it. Just enough to leave us wanting more. Deep down as readers, you know she reciprocate all along. She just don't realise it yet and he's just too dense to catch the signal.

Same romance vibe you got with other shounen like GTO, FMA or Inuyasha.

thanks. I appreciate it. Might have to check it out after all. And honestly, I have heard people say it is open-ended. That doesn't seem too open-ended to me to be honest.

So... ready to hear the hypocrisy of the week? The same people who was calling Sakura-Chans tsundere tendencies towards Naruto abuse, is the same ones who is now cheering for Tsunade to end up with Jiraiya since a clone came about. So, its only a problem when its Naruto and Sakura-Chan.

throw in a little bit of common sense and wa-la, it's obvious which direction the story took. Seems like they got together to me. He loves her, she returned it. She must be waiting for him to confess or something. But, there will always be those people who, no matter how much signs is in their face will try to twist it and turn it until it fits how they want it. It's just like how all of the signs of Sakura-Chan loving Naruto is there, including her saying it and it's ignored. Actions always speak louder than words and besides her admitting that she loves Naruto, anyone with common sense and basic understanding could see that all of her actions shows that she loves him. Just like Naruto doesn't have to say that he loves her for us to KNOW that he loves her.

You know, it still shocks me that some think that NH was planned right from the start. I mean, how stupid can someone be to think this, and they try and use Kishi's interviews to back it up, but it's the one they Kishi said he planned NH from the start, not any of the other interviews.

 

I do think that most pro enders will use that interview, and none of the others that Kishi said he wanted NH in the middle or at the end and just act like it doesn't exist to them. Because if it did, then it would mean Kishi is a bad writer.

almost everything from the Fourth Shinobi War was forced in out of nowhere with literally nothing in the past chapters that signified it would happen... Where did Kaguya come from out of nowhere? I thought Naruto was all about hard work? I thought he was fighting on the side of a Rock Lee where he was using hard work to beat the "genius" in Sasuke. Where did SS and NH come from? Complete kitten that went against the entire story. I have no idea how any respectable writer could ever look at what Kishi did and support him. I see all of these Mangaka's buying all 72 volumes, I don't know why they would spend close to $700.00 just to buy a story where the writer goes against his entire story. Seriously, why in the world would Sakura-Chan act the way she did towards Sasuke in 699? She didn't once wonder where Naruto was, she was willing to leave with Sasuke and abandon Naruto even when the story made it clear that she could live without Sasuke but she can't live without Naruto. No Sai around(conveniently) to question it, Kakashi standing like an idiot while she goes with the wrong person. Kakashi is quick to stand up and advocate for SS, but why is he not helping Naruto when I'm sure he already observed that Naruto loves her JUST like Obito loved Rin? Was he not the one who made Rin aware of Obito's feelings?  Then we have poor Naruto who couldn't even be with them because he couldn't bear to see the woman he loves being 'swept of her feet' by Sasuke. He just chose to stand at a distance. That whole scene was supposed to be a NS forehead moment and them revealing they love each other.

 

I don't know who that was in Chapter 699, but that sure as hell wasn't Sakura-Chan. She wouldn't leave Naruto for Sasuke, she would be worrying about Naruto's feelings, she would BE with Naruto because she would realize that she loved him all along. Nobody should buy anything of Kishimoto's until he rights his wrongs. This dude literally tried to shoehorn kitten in the story that had nothing to do with what he wrote in the past. Nothing lead up to 90 percent of the kitten in the War Arc, and he tried to insult our intelligence like we wouldn't notice. SS, NH, Kaguya, that reincarnation kitten, all shoehorned and forced with zip leading up to it. The whole War Arc was basically a whole "let me let Naruto down, one dream at a time." fest. You want Sakura-Chan? Nope, I'll give her to your so called brother instead. "While I'm at it, let me have her confess to Sasuke right in front of you with her having knowledge that you love her, so I could further rip your heart out of your chest." Something the real Sakura-Chan WOULD NEVER kittening DO. Especially not at that point in the story. At the point in the story, the real one would clearly be choosing Naruto over Sasuke, she would be showing Naruto himself CLEAR signs that she loves him that even Naruto would notice. Kishimoto is a kitten until further notice and he gets no support from me until he fixes that garbage.

 

I know I always say all of this, but the ending hurts my heart and it always will, to see Naruto just have his biggest dream ripped away from him. To see all that he went through for her, all the pain he endured for her,  to see how hard he fought for her, how deeply he loves her, just to not get rewarded with Sakura-Chan's heart, which he doesn't even know that he always had and always will have. He never got a chance to confess, he never got a chance to kiss the forehead that he so deeply cherished, the girl that he deeply cherishes. All he wants is to hear those three magic words from her. I want to see him sweep her off her feet, I want him to make her blush uncontrollably, I want him to get his date from her finally and to marry her like he dreamed of. I have to see it happen.

- Less than 1 million manga sales in 2019 (to be precise, it sold 600.845 copies for all volumes in the whole year of 2019). As a comparison, the franchise sold ~250million accumulative total between 2000-2015

- Kishimoto's new manga got axed within 5 volumes. He was planning for at least 10.

- No movies since 2015 while every other franchise enjoys growth as anime market is expanding twice the size compared to a decade ago (https://www.animenew...ion-yen/.166579)

- The latest major game they produce (Shinobi Striker) sold 10k in the first week. Storm 3 sold 9 times more in the same timespan.

And many more facts that indicated the move to pivot the story at last minute has killed the franchise financially.

One can't justify an F mark to be seen as good. It is what it is. The fact that such move backfired will ensure that other series should not follow suit.

I'm curious do you think somewhere down the line Naruto might get a reboot? I personality think its better if this franchise is completely buried and forgotten. It should never get a reboot especially if a mediocre author like Kishimoto is involved.

I don't think they would, it means start to compete against MHA and other and no one assure them Naruto's gonna defeat them. I don't think they would remade the ending neither, the damage is done and they put so much effort on Boruto and it would be throw away a lot of money. My hypothesis is this; Pierrot doesn't has any other major Manga to adapt so they keep on air Boruto trying to make some profit from the over sea market.
