Kakashi as Hokage at least made some sense. Kakashi has a lot of combat experience and he's no slouch in intelligence, either. Granted he's no Shikamaru, but there are worse characters to have as Hokage than Kakashi in my opinion. He has the combat experience and techniques that make him someone you don't want to take lightly and is arguably one of the most elite ninja in the entire village. From his experience he'll have also gained plenty of knowledge on numerous topics, and let's not forget he was trained by the 4th Hokage and Jaraya. And to top it all off, he's cool and collected. You're not going to get underneath his skin very easily unlike Naruto. 

 

While maybe not ideal for the job in the long run, Kakashi would be a safe bet for a temporary seat holder for the position until someone more suited for the task could be found.

Kakashi hasn't been in the manga story. It seems more to keep the cast small, by making Naruto's second become Hokage. Of course his role in the story hasn't seem to change much.

I mean naruto's use of clones got a lot better i think sasuke and him both surpassed kakashi and unless I'm wrong kakashi had acknowledged that... Then again kishimoto wasn't hugely consistent with his writing. Personally I think popularity had more to do with what happened than whether it was something he wanted i mean look at how kakashi just got susanoo out of nowhere. I think he also said in a interview less popular characters like sai were preferred by him compared to kakashi

You know, after watching some older films, I think Naruto suffers from a God complex.

 

One part of it is this, and it fits Naruto so well.

Its a side effect of Naruto's morals not being questioned nor explored.

 

In theory, Naruto's morality is suppose to be similar to the audiences. The ninja world indoctrinates everyone into seeing themselves as disposable weapons; conditioning them to accept as well as even commit immoral acts. He was such a bad student that he wasn't indoctrinated like the rest; so kept a proper moral compass. That is similar to the author's or at least what he thinks his customers would agree with. However, since Kishi thought everyone would agree with Naruto that meant that he felt Naruto shouldn't be questioned...or didn't realize that it should if for nothing else to help flesh out the story.

 

Which leads to scenes that can be summed up as:

 

Naruto: X is wrong.

 

Other Character: Well, I think-

 

Naruto: Shut up and just agree with me that X is wrong.

 

Then the story make it so Naruto is correct about whatever X was.

Making Shikamaru the Hokage instead of Konohamaru is probably because Konohamaru isn't really important in the overall story and Ikemoto (Kishimoto as well, previously), didn't bother developping him better. Shikamaru was probably the logical choice because he worked for years close enough to know the drift about the job plus, he's smart so yeah.....
 
Personnally, I find this decision pretty stupid, while Shikamaru is smart, being a real leader isn't just about that but again, I didn't follow anything regarding Boruto so I can't say much about him. Ikemoto should have made at least Kakashi come back, I don't approuve Kakashi as Hokage in the first place but making Shikamaru the Hokage feels like an insult to Naruto.

Yeah the way shikamaru is portrayed doesn't give me confidence of his hokage worthiness 😅then again the power scaling has become worse than naruto

Prime example that Masashi didn't execute the first half of Part 2 and why it suffers in writing!

 

 

 

When Storm 2 tackles the first reunion between Naruto and Sasuke better, but also have them right off the getgo have their rematch right then and there you know you as the writer messed up big time!
