I agree with everything you said. And I was thinking of your comment about Ranma and dead fandoms, and that yes, one day Naruto will go the way of all the other series' that have ended. The fandom will shift to nostalgia instead of active consumption.

 

However! The big difference is (and it's easy to mistake it with all the publicity of 'the end of the manga' and 'the Last movie') Naruto simply isn't over yet. There are still many more iterations of the series, both old and new, to come out. And if these projects are at all commercially successful, then I would expect more things to come. And with more new territory for the series comes new topics for discussion.

This is true. It's just too bad that I won't be around to engage in it. It's all based on a false premise, so why should I bother. Just my opinion though.

No of course not. I'm not saying that the site should close down or anything. I was just saying that I probably won't be around for part 3 and future projects. 

 

The fandom doesn't necessarily have to die. That's out choice. There are still alot of possibilities out there in the form of fanfics, fanart etc. 

 

The Naruto series is far from over, but for me it is. I'll probably finish the anime and that's it. It hurts, but things can never be the same again. Kishi played me for a fool and you just can't go back and hug and kiss someone like that.

I think most of the population on this website have already renounced their loyalties to Naruto, myself included. No one has incentive to continue destroying their receptors when they've already been ravaged by Kishi's apathy. The only ones from H&E who will read this supposed "Part 3" are those who believe that we need to be notified on the progress of a false story built on the premise of supposed misdirection and narrative butchery.

Besides I think a LOT of you missed the point, I never said we should "close up shop, because the brand and fandom is dead". In fact I spent some (looking back probably not enough) time saying the opposite. For example, in my original post it clearly said "I am NOT saying to shut down the site or anything as stupid as that"

 

As for the supposed "rule" I'm apparently trying to enforce. I never said that everyone has to post regularly. I never said everyone has to bring new members. I definitely never said to take away posters freedoms, and I meant posting in this thread because someone who didn't have a friend who had said that they weren't coming back probably wouldn't have any idea whatsoever what I'm talking about.

 

I'm honestly not sure if I need to clarify everything I say, or if some people are reading way too much into it (or just twisting it), to the point where it means the complete opposite.

Uh, you made a thread titled "Despair," specifically about 'H&E despair' and how the site is 'rapidly falling down on its broken foundation.'

 

Sorry, but that sorta sets the tone. I think everyone posting here has demonstrated that they feel differently.

 

I get the point, to have people post in the thread if they're still actively involved in the site. So they did.

As a member who has been here since 2006, I can assure you that the ups and downs of traffic are quite normal here at Heaven and Earth. 

 

The amount of traffic hasn't even slowed down all too much. If you look in some of the sections there are still threads that are updated on a regular basis. The Ichiraku Ramen Bar is also fairly active.

 

There's no doubt that things will slow down now that Naruto is over, it was bound to happen, but this is still a large community and people will continue to visit.

 

Heck, I have basically put Naruto behind me but I still visit every day.

 

I think the idea that Heaven and Earth is somehow crumbling now after more than 10 successful years is a bit of an over reaction.

 

lol yeah lid literally how often will we be chatting on skype or xat or whatever and somebody says "I really feel like H&E is on the decline" or "man no one is on H&E anymore"

I think I didn't get the topic the first time lol. This site will still be active. I'm sure of it. I mean there is plenty to discuss here. I want to follow the fall of Pierrot and Kishi so I need to come and get update on that:P

 

Then, we have all the NS art,fanfiction and any Naruto discussion we can talk about here. Plus other discussion not necessarily about Naruto. People have made some friend here so I don't see them going somewhere else. I won't be taking part in any discussion for the future project personally, because I'm not gonna waste my time after what they pulled here. His lost all credibility as an author (oh wait, he won't work on part 3). Anyway I did give up on the series. It's beyond repair unless they remake the ending, which has less than 1% chance from happening. 

 

Anyway, I'm still a proud member of this fandom and I like reading a lot of your post here. So yeah, traffic will go down, people move on, but this site will still be here because I believe the NS fandom will always exist. They both love each other but like some tragic story, external cause didn't allowed them to be together in this path of their existence ( yeah, I'm still calling the after 698 an alternate reality, that's why I just don't give a FWord about the future of the franchise from now on. If they comeback the 1st reality ok but as it is now, I let it go)

I still come here for Regular Updates and to talk about how kitten kishi is plus i've made great friends here that I still talk to over the chat. 

 

I won't ever leave this site. Sure, there may have been fewer posts, but maybe thats because there's nothing to talk about right now , in Regards to Naruto, but we're still here! :)

I soon expect Kishimoto to say something really infuriating when he is promoting the Part 3 miniseries that SP will probably milk into a 400 episode anime that is 90% filler. That will bring a bunch of discussion.

Plus, I imagine some will jump onto the Part 3 shipwars. I don't think there will be many Bolt × Salad shippers here.

Unless they manage to introduce an entirely new rogue's gallery in this post-apocalyptic era of harmony then their options for antagonists will be limited to whatever nefarious scheme they can trump up with Orochimaru and his inner circle of fiends. It won't justify anything more than perhaps a few volumes worth of content, if that. Moreover, Kishi has already stated that the spin-off would only be for two months. Assuming the publications are weekly as they were for the original manga, that's only 8 chapters - nothing more than a glorified version of Kakashi Gaiden except with Hinata spawn at the helm in a modern-like setting. 

 

Admittedly, I will find it interesting to see whether or not the same dissenters of NaruSaku who thought of the relationship as abuse will cry foul if anything occurs that shares in such a dynamic. Poking holes into their hypocritical notions of love between those two creatures might even become a regular event here on the forum. 

 

Oh, and who exactly is there to contest the male Hinata spawn with? Only six other notable spawn exist from the original cast. From those, you have the female Hinata spawn (its sister), the fat lovechild of Karui, and Kurenai's daughter. Insane as he might be, I can't envision Kishi breaking any societal norms by having two actual siblings born from the same womb enter into a romantic relationship with each other. The lovechild appeared to be more interested in telling off its worn out playmates than romance. Kurenai's daughter actually seems to be a girl who's interested in her work more than relationships so I find that unlikely as well.

 

Who knows? Perhaps the spawn will die before those spontaneous desires of lust conceived on a superficial foundation begin to transform it into a scumbag like its seed giver.

Why would anyone ship that pitiable excuse for a NS replacement?  Why would anyone watch? The fans that aren't pissed with the series at this point are the single track mind Hinata fans that wanted her to have her G**D***ed fairy tale ending and they got it so there's not point for them either cause they sure as hell will not see Naruto and Hinata making kissy faces at eachother from what I got of the ending's feel
