Haku and Zabuza?

I was at a few different cons a couple months ago and I noticed that Haku and Zabuza were always present (more than one cosplayer of each) and they are not only widely known, but for some reason, beloved. I have nothing against this at all, rather I fail to see what everyone else is getting that I'm missing. What makes them so popular/beloved? My memory of the eps with them is a little fuzzy, as is my understanding of Haku and Zabuza's relationship (another detail I'd really like to be filled in on, please), although something leads me to believe that they really cared for each other. Thanks ^^

well above and beyond being the source of Team 7s first A-ranked mission a mission which in many ways cemented their legends.
They are also the reason behind much of the life lessons learned by team 7. Narutos learing of protecting something precious to gain greater strength, the beginnings of showing Narutos charisma and ability to change people by his shaming of Zabuza about Haku. his changing inari and inspiring him to gather the villagers and fight.
and in other ways the beginnings of the bonds between team 7 as individuals.

Try rewatching the episodes or read the manga chapters.. I'm sure you'll see somethings you missed the first time around.

I happen to be a very strong supporter of NarutoxSakura pairing. I really enjoy wildlife and the outdoors. I'm a gamer I guess...yeah, okay, I am. Let's see, what else could I put down...um, I love reading, writing, and biking too. Comedy movies are the best...um yeah. Y'know, the funny thing about this subject is that the Wave Country arc was what got me into Naruto. They were already into the Chunin Exams by the time I started watching the show, but watching Kakashi fight Zabuza was probably one of the coolest battles I've watched in awhile.
It's true too; Zabuza and Haku showed Team Seven the truth of what the shinobi world is like. They were fresh from the mill Genin, and already fighting two ninja who have already had tons more experience in killing than they have (although Haku didn't enjoy killing, for the record). Not only that, but Haku's words became the backbone of Naruto's nindo. Protecting those precious to you. Naruto's first encounter with Zabuza reminded him of his vow to never go back on his word.
Yeah, sure, Haku and Zabuza barely had much screen/frame time compared to other villains in the series, but they had such a huge impact on the characters, Naruto especially.
Hm...I guess I just repeated what's been stated already. Honestly though, Haku and Zabuza were what made Naruto who he is, in a way. As far as a shinobi, at least.
That...or maybe people just like dressing up as Zabuza and Haku because they look awesome. Who knows?
