Well, the final chapter of Naruto came out today.  Long story short, it sucked.  HARD.  And you're probably asking "What, are you just a butthurt Naruto x Sakura fanboy or something?"  Hell no, that ain't it.  It sucked because it made no sense.

A story that was from Chapter 1 about an underdog struggling to achieve the respect of those around him is thrown out in favor of the villain getting everything he wants handed to him on a silver platter, and the hero not getting anything he struggled for.

The story just kind of crashed in the last few chapters.  Keep in mind the main villain at this point, Sasuke, killed several people and threatened to take over the world, leading to the final battle.  What punishment does he recieve?

https://www.youtube....h?v=GB7mHxdHlRY

He is literally given everything after merely saying the words "I'm sorry."  Sakura, whose growth from fangirl to indepdenent woman was a major focus of the last several hundred chapters, has all her development undone so she can fangirl over Sasuke.  The same man who has verbally abused and physically attacked her less than 7 chapters ago.  The hero's lingering feelings for her, never acknowledged!

So yeah, the hero's struggle was deemed pointless.  The moral being - Effort is worthless, as long as you win the gene lottery, you'll get everything you'll ever want.  If not, sucks to be you!

And then we get the most ridiculous fan pandering crap ever.  Chapter 700.  Orochimaru and Kabuto?  Never explained.  Why Kakashi was appointed Hokage and then stepped down?  Never elaborated on.  Instead we get lots of random pairing fodder (with no explanation as to where the couples began or how they got together) ending with Naruto scolding his son, who's implied to be neglected by his father.

Gonna go over that again.

The son of the orphan is being neglected by his father.

The hero has gone from the theme of beating the odds of the previous generation to repeating their mistakes.  The dozens of lingering plot threads were never wrapped up in any satisfactory way.  And the main villain gets the hero's love interest, turned into a battered housewife, in literally every sense of the word.

The manga had 700 chapters to do two things if this was the ending they wanted to come up with.  Make Sasuke have some redeemable qualities, and make Hinata important.  The story did neither.  It pushed Hinata to the side, making light of her unrequited crush, and make Sasuke more and more conventionally evil, finally ending with his plans to take over the world.  But at no point is he ever acknowledged as being in the wrong.

The moral of this underdog story is - Be a jerk, be abusive, be unrepentant, but as long as you say you're sorry, everything will fall into your lap.  Hard work is for chodes.

You want to read a story about hard work and determination to overcome the odds.

Go read Prequel Adventures.

You wanna the really pathetic thing about this chapter? Utterly no mention of Naruto's promise of a life time. Not even so much as a thank you from Sakura. That kitten right there? That's how you know this ending is forced. A major moment in Naruto and Sakura's development as characters (not just a pairing) plays no relevance whatsoever. Not even so much as a platonic acknowledgement. Sakura is simply portrayed as an inconsiderate fangirl buffoon. Which is a real shame. Sakura had potential. Could've stood out as a phenomenal female heroine and a good role model for girls everywhere. Instead, she ends up succumbing to the same pitfalls and idiocy many other series let their female characters waste away in.

Very well said, and what's more annoying is many many people actually like this ending because they were NH/SS and they got there pairing.

It is all alright, Sasuke did say Sorry to Sakura, Naruto always had feelings for Hinata that's why he didn't respond to her confession during pein arc. This is what we are getting from NH/SS fans. Hinata rarely interacted with Naruto, but atleast that pairing wasn't abusive. How the hell did SS become canon. Sasuke got everything because he was the main character actually. The biggest troll is not SS/NH happening, the biggest troll is the Title of the manga, because it shouldn't have been Naruto, it should have been Sasuke.

Naruto didn't surpass the previous generations at all. Hashirama defeated Madara, Ashura defeated Indra, but Naruto loses an arm and lost in his conquest of love to his rival, despite doing everything for her including the completion of POAL.

One more surprising thing, Sakura didn't even say a "Thank You" to Naruto. He deserved at least that much. Sakura just confirmed she was using Naruto, and he was nothing but a backup plan in case Sasuke never came around, because Naruto was so stupid to love her no matter what selflessly.

Poor Naruto had to GIVE UP and move on in the end due to Sakura.

Kishi just made Sakura top the list of my most Hated characters of all time, even more hated than Sasuke and guys I don't hate characters that easy.

You pretty much said everything that I was thinking. When it comes to Team 7 + Hinata, this is it.

Sasuke, never made to be a character with any kind of values, not even in an "outlaw with a heart of gold" vibe.

Hinata was shoved aside in major points in the manga. She was asleep during the Gaara fight, she had no impact on the Sasuke retrieval and wasn't around for Naruto's homecoming. Her confession isn't even mentioned after the Pein arc.

Naruto had a poor ending to his whole story. Apparently, his son doesn't get enough attention and has to pull pranks. Naruto, the guy who went to the lowest common denominator and pulled pranks to simply get some attention because he had no love since he was an orphan, is shown to not give enough attention to his son. Naruto also better hope that an opponent never appears against Konoha which doesn't have a tragic back story. His policy of forgiving everyone (Sasuke, Obito) will probably come back to bite him.

Sakura, finally we get to Sakura. What a shame, what an absolute disaster her ending turned out to be. In the last chapter, not even a conversation with Naruto about his feelings. Not even a talk about the promise of a lifetime. Not even a we may not feel romantic, but we will always be friends. We get none of that. What do we get?

Sakura blushing, acting like a fan girl around Sasuke. That's all we see of her, not her being strong, not her being independent of those feelings. Then there's chapter 700, all we see of her is cleaning a house. That's it. Not at the hospital being the head medic, not traveling the world looking for new cures as the best ninja medic in the world. We see her cleaning.

More or less, Naruto and Sakura, both of their characters after their development, went into a train wreck. Meanwhile, Hinata comes out of nowhere and she suddenly has a relationship and Sasuke, who did all sorts of bad things gets off scott free and can enjoy some sight seeing.

It's really unbelievable.

I think the whole reason we saw no interaction between Naruto and Sakura was because Kishimoto literally couldn't pull it off and make it seem believable.  Any in character scene between the two would have made the other two pairings look far worse than they are now, which is saying something. The whole thing is suspect to me.  We don't even have a word spoken between Hinata and Naruto.  Sakura has the Uzumaki female hairsyle, her kid looks like Karin, and she is relegated to being a housewife.  Sakura's character was dismantled and recreated into some sort of abomination this chapter, but it almost looks like Kishimoto is saying something with the Kushina parralels, like NS was meant to be, but he wasn't allowed to pursue that path.  I find it really sad that he is putting all of Naruto's romantic development in the movie when he had so much development for NaruSaku.   It's almost as if he couldn't stand writing any meaningful NH in his own manga and thus dumped it on SP.   I truly think he washed his hands of the matter, and I find it hard to believe he is happy right now with that ending he just delivered.

Maybe I'm wrong, but for me this points to Kishi not really having a choice in the matter.  The editor's or SP or whomever, guided his hand for these final chapters. If he really wanted Naruto and Hinata as the final pairing, wouldn't he have shown it more love in the manga?  Wouldn't he have given them at least ONE word with each other in the final chapter and epilogue of his life's work?  I'll refrain from too heavy criticism of the man until I get an interview regarding or including this conclusion.  I think he, at the very least, owes our portion of the fan-base an explanation.

In this world, is the destiny of mankind controlled by some transcendental entity or law? Is it like the hand of God hovering above? At least it is true that man has no control; even over his own will.

I'm so glad everyone feels the same way. I am hurt cause after all this Naruto failed. He's no better than Jiriya. At least Obito got the girl in a weird way. But Naruto failed. He didn't create a new world, a new system, nothing. He even seems miserable, not the energetic kid I loved rooting for.

Each generation is supposed to improve, but nothing happened. Naruto risked it all to save the world from an emo kid with to much power. But thats its.

Nothing makes sense.
