All in all a perfect episode, if I say so myself :D . Pierrot did well to delve into Kakashi's psyche. MinaKushi moments are always a plus. Even judging by the next episode's preview, I can definitely tell it will be good and it ties up a lot of loose ends. It was a bit odd that Kakashi would know of Kushina's pregnancy and yet wasn't allowed to be on the ANBU team during her childbirth.

Kakashi was already like a son to Minato, and he would've wanted him to be there so that he could witness his little "brother's" childbirth. But Danzo likely botched it by saying that he was still a rookie, so he wouldn't be suited for a mission like that. Danzo's motives were pretty clear, IMO. He probably got info that "Madara" AKA Obito was on the move from Orochimaru. By barring Kakashi to witness the childbirth, he could have the 4th and his wife killed, and use it as a catalyst to lure Kakashi into his palms and steal his Sharingan.

Not only that, this plan would be particularly effective because Hiruzen forbade Kakashi and his friends from joining the battle and would thus create a rift between both of them, because Kakashi was assigned to be Kushina's bodyguard. He would've made it priority number one to get Kushina to safety and find a medic to keep her alive long enough until Kurama was resealed.

Also, it is said that only a Sharingan user can fight another Sharingan user. That would be the last thing Danzo wants, and worse, "Madara" and Kakashi both happen to have the same eye!!

Well, it sounds like this Kakashi arc is off to a good start. It think I'll check it out for myself.

Episode 349 - Kakashi ANBU (filler): A Mask That Hides The Heart
Finally, finally...a good filler like this wasn't made for a long time!
Fourth Hokage's (Minato) was elected and Hiruzen made a good choice. Who else was good to be a Hokage? When Danzo wanted Orochimaru to be Hokage, I was like: The fu**, no way! Now, Kakashi is an ANBU...cool to see him with a mask.

I enjoyed this episode loved the MiniKushi moments and glad to see that she was still an active shinobi which some complained she stopped doing when she married Minato.

Nice. It's great to see Pierrot taking up these unexplored parts of the canon and try to fill in the gaps. This also means that we get more of the power struggles between the villages and I like that.

I agree. I really liked how they portrayed Kakshi here. You could clearly spot of some of his typical aloof behaviour, but now we all know what the reason behind it is.

For me the MinaKushi moments were completely unexptected. I don't really know why, considering that this takes place before Naruto's birth. I think it's because I automatically assumed that MinaKushi moments are strictly reserved for the RTN canon.

Nonetheless, it was a pleasant surprise.

Great start to the filler arc.

I loved Kakashi's inner struggles in this episode, but I gotta admit that my favorite part was the cute interaction between Minato and Kushina. It's adorable how Kushina is all Naruto-ish when she talks to Minato, like mother like son.

It makes me wonder if they would dare to make a another filler arc in the future, but this time focused on Minato's younger life.

At first I was kinda hesitant about watching the episode, but then I decided to give it a shot. Glad to say that this episode was great for a starter episode to The Kakashi Anbu filler arc. Plus is it just me, or was this something Kishi wanted to add to the manga after Obito's stuff was taken care of. I just get the feeling that maybe the flashback was suppose to last 2 volumes instead of 1, but maybe due to ratings Kishi had to scrap it. Then maybe he gave the idea to studio perriot. I don't know if that's how it really went down, but it would be interesting to see if that's what happened.

I thought the ratings did pretty well. It was Hokage's flashback that once got him lowered than usual. Either way, I don't think so, but I could imagine Kishi wanted to expand, it's just that well, we want to see what's here now, not in the past. Advantage of filler. Only advantage.

I thought it was a pretty good episode, and it looks like this filler arc is off to a promising start. I really like that Kakashi's inner struggles following Rin and Obito's deaths are being explored here and I enjoyed the MinaKushi interactions.

I don't recall though, how long is this arc supposed to be, how many episodes?

Really? That's actually more than I was expecting, for some reason I was thinking four. :excited:

Really good episode, it feels like a canon one. Having Kakashi as the main character for an arc is great :P

I don't think they would dare do that without a LOT of cooperation from Kishi. The only reason why this arc could work is because Kishi had scattered TONS of hints and lots of implications for Kakashi's character in the manga to work out something from it.
