And it isn't a good thing.

Greed is what got many powerful leaders killed or in deep trouble. Just look at the sorry state of America, compared to what it could be. We're going to need some revolutionary changes if we're going to keep surviving. We can't live the way we do. History has repeatedly proven that it's always the unclean hearts of people/leaders that bring down a nation.

I know. And it won't go away. It will be one of the same issues (ex. racism) that last until the end of time.

It'll go away, or at least won't be as effective for awhile. Civilizations fluctuate between peaceful and happy times to violent and unhappy times.

If you want to see how things are going for the internet not only in the US, but in other countries as well, just hop on over to this site and read a few articles.

http://www.torrentfreak.com/

Bittorrent is leading the charge for net neutrality, obviously, because bittorrent is the leading protocol now for transferring information (at least large amounts) over the internet.

I'm against policing of the net, because I believe it should be left alone. The reasons have already been voiced by others in this thread. Torrent Freak is not just about torrents, but the overall status of the internet, and what some of those big companies (like Comcast, especially) are doing to your internet connection that you didn't know about.

Actually we do need policing on the net. It's one area that criminals can roam free without the government being able to do much about it. Not unless they themselves "fight fire with fire."

Some people don't trust the government to police the web. That's fine and dandy, but that will eventually come back to bite us in the ***. We need White Hat hackers to have as much freedom to police the web as Black Hat hackers. If you're against this because of "privacy" concerns, then just try to understand that Black Hat hackers don't care about your privacy, and are more likely to cause problems. White Hat hackers can at least be monitored.

This is pretty ridiculous I have to say and I don't think its gonna pass. There's nothing seriously wrong with the way the internet works now and it's not something they need to focus on, people will, or should, just argue about things that are actually priorities and not some effed up bill they want to pull out for their own control and greed.
