Yikes! I just got bashed on another site for saying Chinese New Year instead of the "Lunar New Year"......Does it really matter?

If you want to literally say "Happy New Year", you can say 新年快樂 which is pronounced as "Xin Nian Kuai Le" in Mandarin.

and feh lucky cloud, my mom and dad, that wimmun went wacko mode on us, they she commanded my sister (after she came home from school) and me (after i came back from work) around pointing at things and the like to get us cleaning and stuff DX

but good thing: my g-parents from both my mom and dad's sides are here! and doodes, my gramma doesn't have any TEEFS D: that makes me sadfais'd ;-;

uhh other than that, i gotta go take my sister out for some new clothes.. xDD

Silly people. What does it matter what it's called? Chinese New Year, Lunar New Year. All the same. As long as you're not saying Merry Christmas, we're all good

Bah... it's almost new years and my mom is ordering us around prettying up the floors and vacuuming the rooms... then cleaning the windows and bathrooms... Cleaning bites. By the way, need more than 24 hours in a day! Need time to party study for midterms!

But how would you know that the way you're saying it is correct? I just provided the pinyin, but they actually have certain ways to pronounce the letters like japanese for instance. Not everything is pronounced the same.

I just found out recently so I wasn't planning it either. Damn. New Years is the day that I'll be at school the entire day so I probably won't even be home until it's time for dinner and time for me to pass out.

It's Lunar New Year because other ethnic groups celebrate New Years on this day.

I'm half Cantonese and Vietnamese. Vietnam also celebrates New Years on this day.

I'm stopping by the local temple to present my offerings and prayers later.

That may be True, but a lot of us grew up with hearing it as Chinese New Year (I know I did). So excuse us if we don't automatically call it Lunar New Year even though most of Asia, I believe, celebrate this occasion.

Bah, I wish I was with my family. I haven't gone to temple to present my prayers for a long time, and I haven't put up incense on my grandmother's altar for a while now.. =/
