I think that after Hinata discovers she is being manipulated, she will promptly kill herself. From there, things between Naruto and Sakura can progress naturally.

Sakura will be reminded of the forehead scene in chapter 3 and realize she was deceived all along. 

She has, after all, some talent in genjutsu.
