Yeah, it's just terrible. It was a studio known for hiring women and for paying a decent salary and keeping them to a more regular work schedule (instead working them 60-70 hours like most of the other studios). Such a tragedy. They animated the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya anime about 10 years ago. 

 

I saw some footage of young people being interviewed at the building, coming to pay their respects, crying their eyes out and saying how much the shows meant to them. One girl said a series they made helped her overcome her deep shyness. Just really touching to see how many people they reached. It's so much more than just cartoons.
