I'm sure many of you by now know one of the most amazing writers in the world who gave us Percy Jackson and the Olympians Series,  Kane Chronicles (actually haven't read that one yet),  and The Heroes of Olympus Series which was sorta of a sequel continuing off from the Percy Jackson Series.  Now the same writer, Rick Riordan's next book based on Norse Mythology is finally out titled Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard which is planned to be a trilogy.

Here is the cover to the book 635699865683485282-MAGNUS-CHASE-jacket-F

And to the many people who've read Rick Riordan books since his first series Percy Jackson (myself included) then you all remember Percy's best friend became love interest Annebeth Chase. Now the main character of this series is Magnus Chase (pretty obvious from the series title) and if you notice last name for both Annebeth and Magnus I assure you it's no  meer coincidence that they share the same last name.

Without going into spoilers all I'm gonna say is I just got the book today around 10:30 AM CST and I finished it about an hour ago due to college and work getting in the way, but that aside. I found this book to be pretty amazing and a great start to this new norse mythology series from Rick Riordan.

You guys can share any of your thoughts on whether you've bought the book, thinking about picking it up, or currently reading it at the moment. Just remember to put spoiler tags if you are going to discuss about anything from this book.

Edit: Forgot to  put this in, but the first book in this series is called The Sword of Summer incase any of you are curious. Alrighty then have fun discussions with everyone :D

OMG! Can't believe this is happening. Now my Norse mythology trilogy (part 1) will be living in the shadows of this series  :bash:

I never read any of his books, but this book. looks like it follows the current Norse canon timeline, which is before Ragnarok. Magnus Chase. Good titled character name.

I just finished reading the book literally on the same I bought it.

To answer your question Annebeth is in the book, but it's not focused around her.  She does appear in the book though and that to me was a real treat having grown up reading Percy Jackson to Heroes of Olympus and now this series...

The next book camout today, and I got mine early in the morning.   Unlike book 1,  I haven't read through the entire way main cause I had a few assignments I needed to get out of the way before hand, but I read the first chapter and like all of Rick Riordan's book I'm capticavated as always, ah I'm excited!!!

It's funny I pointed out to my best friend "This book is god!"

and he said "THOR"

Me looking at the cover, "Yes!"

Hammer of Thor,  Man if only I didn't have an assignment due tomorrow I would've easily been reading this lol. Nonetheless I'm gonna love seeing where Magnus's journey continues after Book 1: Sword of Summer.

Has anyone picked up new book by any chance?

It's worth reading man both the first book, Sword of Summer, and  the second book, the Hammer of Thor especially when you read book 2 because it's gonna leave a huge anticipation for the final book in the trilogy, The Ship of The Dead which btw before I forget, here is the cover to the final book in the Magnus Chase Trilogy:

That one comes out October 3rd. I'd recommend reading as soon as you can if you intend to read it (Ship of the Dead) once it comes out.

Today marks the end of the Magnus Chase Trilogy written by one of my favorite writers of all time Rick Riordan,  with the release book 3: Ship of The Dead, and omg there is a lot I want to talk about when it comes to this series finale, but I'lll summarize it in one word. Beautiful. I didn't wanna stop reading it, and man every page i read was just simply drawn in just like is previous books.   From the beginning of series with Sword of Summer all the to now the Ship of Dead is truly worth the read. Magnus chase is such an amazing character, and you see him go through alot of growth as the story progresses with each book. I've been following Rick Riordan's books since Percy Jackson, and the man just continues to deliver.

Now the question is this series better than his previous series?

My honest answer,  Percy Jackson and The Olympians still reigns supreme in my opinion.   Magnus Chase and The Gods of Asgard comes in at a very close second for me.  Like if I had to give a percentage rate it would be this:

Percy Jackson and The Olympians Series would be a 97% arguably 100%

Magnus Chase and The Gods of Asgard would be at 96%

Some of you who read Heroes of Olympus might be thinking, LuckyChi you're putting Magnus Chase over The Heroes of Olympus? Yes, and the only reason is because The Blood of Olympus (Final book in Heroes of Olympus) was kind underwhelming (It's still a great book, but as a series finale it didn't really deliver the way many fans expected it to).

So yeah overall that is my overall thoughts on Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard, this is definetly a series that I'm going to be revisiting alot I can already say that for certain, and it reminded how talented Rick Riordan can be with his books (minus Blood of Olympus, but that's it).   I guess for the time being  I can look forward to The Trials of Apollo Series until he works on his next series comes out whatever it maybe.

Rick Riordan you did a fantastic job, and it's author's like you who continue to inspire me and push me towards my own book.

Thank you very much, and I look forward to your next work :D
