Still debating wether to subject myself to the lazy character development im hearing the movie has. dont care about super suits, dont care about the internationization of the unit, dont care about the cobra commander hood.

only cared about the Snake eyes Scarlet characterizations and the storyline between them and from what i heard Somemrs got lazy and screwed that up royaly.

Im not one to expect shakespeare out of a movie like this. I liked TF2 and the original TF and have no issues with either. But I do expect at least a basic level of directorial competence and character development.

if the directors too lazy to make a masked man show emotions to his female partner when Pixar was able to make a CGI robot express emotions more humanly then any human actor ive ever seen. then I dont know wether id want to waste the money on it.

that said I also want to support Ray Park whos a good guy and deserves bigger roles in Hollywood action films.

Tatum/Duke mostly sucked. Just couldn't take him serious, and his tone was weak and un commanding.

The Girls were kick ass, And Snake Eyes was fing awesome for the screen time he did get. Dude can fight.

Gent over at the City of heroes boards just posted this review of the film I may reconsider seeing it after all

I saw this just the other night (on a discount price, and that is the single highest recommendation I can give this movie, don't pay full price, save it for the popcorn you'll want that is a perfect match to this movie) and I gave it a 6 out of 10.

The major thing that it didn't do was pretend it was a serious film. Stephen Sommers, love him or loathe him, takes larger-than-life action and has a bit of fun with it and he does so here. It's also a techo porn film, with gadgets, gizmos and technology running rampant all over the place.

The one thing that did annoy me here? The overeliance on CGI. It was a joy for me to watch Ray Park's Snake Eyes and Stormshadow fight without having to rely on visual tricks to sell what they were doing. I thought he did particularly well in the role as his body language to act is far better than any spoken dialogue he could offer up.

I should add here I didn't grow up with the Joes (more of an Autobots supporter here) and can't fault the story as I don't know the continuity virtually at all. So Duke/Baroness was okay (though I fully expect her to turn bad again in the sequel to push the focus back on that story) and Ripcord/Scarlet came off far more as a friendship than a potential romance. Several people have commented on various subtle body language hints between Scarlet and Snake Eyes, and let's face it...the fanbase would be up in arms if the much-loved Snake Eyes was denied the relationship with Scarlet. If I hear nothing else about GI Joe, it's the relationship between those two. Fly in the face of that, as I suspect all the time given in flashbacks to his backstory, and this potential franchise would die on the vine.

My major disappointment? Chris Eccleston. Talk about phoning it in. I had revelled in his enthusiastic and boisterous performance as The Doctor for one season in Doctor Who and hoped he'd bring something to the role, but instead I got an overdone Scottish accent and half-baked acting from him. He could easily be replaced by another actor here. Same can be said for Dennis Quaid who must've felt slightly embarassed playing someone who at times was literally two-dimensional.

But! It was serviceable. It was professionally well made, and held up as a popcorn movie. Don't go with high expectations and you'll be fine. Brendan Fraser's little cameo was a nice chuckle too.

Agreed with the review. It's a good watch, but don't expect to think too much about the plot...obviously! XD

I like to go out and party, but I do not like drinks served in a femvase (damn fruity stuff... ew), so good ol' beer is my mate. So yeah, I'm also a psychology student, so your mind interests me.

I have absolutely no relationship with this show at all, as GI Joe never reached our shores (Action Man did though... pwnt!), but I did watch the movie... and I enjoyed it immensely. I didn't know any of the characters from before, so I couldn't get annoyed at parts noticeably deviant from the original character, and the slapstick humor was great. I was humming Star Wars music in the scene with all those submarines going head to head, and it was a great watch.
If you grew up with these characters though, I don't know if the movie would annoy you. It's like my getting annoyed with how they killed Jimmy Olsen in Smallville for no good reason!!! As a fan of the original character, I hated how they ruined him. Maybe they did something similar with these characters, but I enjoyed the actors work along the overall plot.

I'll land on a 7 out of 10!!
