Honestly, not really. I think he's tamed to do children of all ages in terms of combat while still provide fan service. I mean kids show do have fan service, which is bizarre itself.

That's japan for you

Perhaps if he leaves that magazine, the fan service could be toned down significantly. I'm only saying though.

And go where? Shounen Weekly Jump? His work has always had fanservice, and let's be realistic here fanservice seems to be rampant on all Shounen Magazines.

I'm not saying don't do fan service, but the unwritten limit exist (irony). Rave wasn't that apparent and even the early Fairy Tail. I remember the early stage just being a series with fun times. Now, fun comes with a lot of exposed skins. I guess that's why the art changed to make fan service happy. The magazine he's in is super favoring fan service. Surprised that Attack on Titan escaped. Maybe he got blackmailed.

Oh yeah I totally agree, I'm currently rereading Rave Master and boy the fan service there is heavily toned like there are a few instances here and there, but it's used in the most appropriate timing.  i guess you can say the same thing with Fairy Tail early on like pre-grand magic games

I wonder if there was like a shift in direction when it came to Weekly Shounen Magazine around that point in time because I know Seven Deadly Sins is in that's magazine too or  if it's just the editors Hiro's working with favors that aspect of Fairy Tail alot.

Cause the amount of fan service in Rave Master is very miniscule at best like 5% throughout the manga, and Fairy Tail atleast now I'd say maybe 40% to 50% it's guarenteed there regardless of the situation..

Plus Hiro has been apart of Weekly Shounen Magazine since Rave Master so something had to have happened in terms of fan service aspect.

No he's actually really good, fairy tail has the better story, characters pacing and twist and development than Naruto or bleach.

That is actually prety true, I guess it might just execution of how a fight or an event unfolds within the story.

Not at all, he has proven his potential with Rave Master and definitely at specific points in Fairy Tail, he just doesn't seem to plan things ahead of time in terms of the fight scenes

That's a pretty good point atleast with Fairy Tail.

The fight scenes in Rave Master I feel are pretty spot on.

I think there might've been some kinda change going on in Weekly Shounen Magazine that happened around the time Tenrou Island arc ended.

Actually Attack on Titan is apart of Bessatsu Shounen Magazine, that magazine itself is also apart of Kondasha Comics too.

I really don't remember alot of the fights in rave master mainly cause I never read the magna but I'm going to I've got first 9 volumes and the last 3 I just need 10-32.
I hope what you said in your bolt tragic event he loose everything. I'm still waiting for him to turn into a prick like sasuke. I saw that anime America video of the top worst couples in anime and it was one of her friends who did it and I love how the rant was all on sasuke.

Pretty much this. People keep talking kitten about his writing, but what they're really complaining are the fights, not the story as a whole. If you really read the story in its entirety, you could tell it's well-planned and thought-out. It's only a shame the battles lost their spark. Hopefully, now that Acno is back on the scene, things start picking up a little.

His characters are great and each one gets enough time in the arc and you get know each one alot. Two good moments I love is in tenuro island where laxus tells you can't buy your way back with one Good, unlike with sasuke just cause he helped out in the war he gets forgiven like that. Or at the end of the grand magic games during the ball where Lyon let juvia go even though he loves her and he knew her heart belongs to Gray. He accepted it in a mature way did hinata do that with naruto no.

That's not true entirely. The writing surrounding Erza and Gray has been atrocious. Silver's very existence was an asspull, and the writing surrounding him was terrible, especially when Gray tried to blame Natsu for what happened to his family. I don't need to bother going into detail with Erza.

Just out of curiosity, I wanted to know which pairing you felt Hiro has handled better during his mangaka career?

Haru x Ellie from Rave Master? or NaLu from Fairy Tail?

I like both pairings, but honestly if I had to pick one I'd pick Haru x Ellie.  Reason being is because their relationship just feels so genuine, rich, and organic throughout the entirety of Rave Master.  With NaLu I felt the same way in the beginning, but with Hiro's writing I feel that it's a little one-sided. Lucy for sure I can tell has feelings for Natsu similar to Ellie felt for Haru. Though, and this has always been something that's been bugging me.. Does Natsu feel the same way for her similar to how Haru felt for Ellie?

The closest I could think of for Natsu is when he left the letter to Lucy about training for a year kinda, but when Lucy was unconscious which triggered Natsu's E.N.D. mode.. That one for sure.

Idk maybe I'm just overthinking things.  What do you guys think is better between the two pairings?

It's not so much an asspull as it is convenient. Mashima definitely planned giving Gray an upgrade to his magic ever since ToH. If he wanted to do it through Silver, that's fine by me. The important thing to note about Silver's storyline is that it had gradual build-up throughout the Tartaros arc, whereas Eileen literally had none.

Gray was blaming E.N.D., the entity, not Natsu himself. How was he supposed to know Natsu was E.N.D.?

I'd pick Silver's story over Eileen any day. Also, I consider Eileen's background story as part of "battle scenes" since it plays directly into the fight.

This chapter also makes me wish that instead of the cop-out we got from Eileen, Acnologia should've killed her when she was about to kill Erza.

Eillen's "change of heart" could've been handled this way: Acnologia stabs her from behind, but Eilleen uses the last of her strength to teleport Erza and Wendy away not because she cares for them, but out of pure pragmatism. Because she knows that if she dies, at the very least there should be someone who can continue the fight against Acnologia.

She could also implant her memory about the ins and outs of enchanting dragon slaying magic to both of them, revealing unknown secrets as well.

I have a question for those who have played Fire Emblem series. Is Erza's character based on Titania from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance?

http://fireemblem.wi...om/wiki/Titania

I did a google search because I wanted to know if Titania was the name of a female Titan, instead it  turned out Titania was the Queen of the Fairies from Midsummer night dreams, So I now know why Erza has that nickname. Anyway the image of Titania popped up, and I thought it was fanart for Erza but it ended up as this Fire Emblem character, who not only looks similar also sounds like she has a similar personality (from Early Erza), and the game did come out in 2005, a year before Fairy Tails started, (and we do know Hiro does like RPG games.)

Another interesting thing I found was the Titania was the western name for the character, and her Japanese versions name was Tiamat, a name for mythical beast often depicted as a a Dragon King.

I wasn't sure if this was a complete coincidence or if there is more to it.

Huh, good question. I'm not sure myself truth be told, But I AM  A Fire Emblem fan

As for Tiamat, It is actually  the name of a Mesopotamian goddess, which is practically the earliest recorded mythology/religion in known history

I know (or atleast Google told me as such) about Tiamat, that's why I said portrayed as a Dragon king (technically Queen), specially in Japanese media, the two I can think of on the top of my head, Final Fantasy and High School DxD, both had Dragon Goddesses in the game.

The silver thing was just as thrown together as Eileen was. There was zero difference between Silver and Eileen.

Also, are you forgetting that after that Ice Spriggan guy told Gray that Natsu was END, and then Gray went out and tried to kill Natsu? He certainly knew Natsu was end, and he certainly tried to kill him because of that. Gray has been trash for a while now.

While I agree the whole Silver thing was just as thrown together as Eileen's, I do think Silvers was slightly better, thought that's not saying much.

I'm pretty sure both Natsu and Gray were willing to kill each other during their fight, both of them were overcome by grief and allowed their demonic side to take over, so if you would call Gray Trash for his actions, you have to give Natsu the same treatment, he was trash as he was willing to go through Gray to reach the Zeref to get his revenge.

Here is a fun fact when it comes to the whole the thing regarding Silver and Gray subplot.

This comes directly from the afterward section to which Hiro Mashima stated in Volume 46

"I had thought up the story of Gray and Silver long before The Tartaros Arc even began.. Including how it their fight played out to how it ends, the ramifications, what becomes of Gray, and what becomes of Silver. They were all decided beforehand."
