Pedophelia is a vile and base and quite frankly evil practice that is even worse coming from an institution that professes to protect and venerate children as much as it does.
the hypocritical message it sends out when it blows off child rape as anything but the most egregious and vile violation of a precious and innocent soul runs along the same lines as saying well rape isnt that bad when no force is used.

I know even a lot of strongly observant Catholics were unhappy when he was picked as pope. Some Catholics even view him as the worst pope since Pius XII.

Or...Pope Alexander VI
If you don't know who that is, you can go google it...his crimes were too much to be put in a simple paragraph.

For the love of- Don't bait a debate like that, it's going to be boring and take up at least three pages of the topic. The protestants broke off for their own reasons, not just a widely-asserted singular belief. This was way back in the day, where people had a choice in their life. They could serve different kings, choose different religions, and so on.

I know protestants broke off for various reasons (parents were baptist) my last coment was a dry wit type.
Frankly this thread already polerized in the sence that its about religion(in a way) and people already have stated on both sides of whether or not the pope's comments were out of context or not.

Yeah those were the days, Ahh
where you could choose a different religion, and have your balls chopped off by inquisitors.
