#969253 The NEW NaruSaku Debate Thread

Posted by Branden on 13 November 2018 - 02:52 PM

I just want to throw this out there. Many of you may recall "Road To Ninja: Naruto the Movie".

Do you think that this movie was perhaps an attempt to do what they couldn't do in canon? I don't know who was really responsible for the build up of Naruto and Sakura's relationship. It may have been Kishimoto's idea, or one of the editor's ideas, or maybe it was an accident. Regardless of whose idea it was, the manga showed us Naruto and Sakura's relationship developing into love and slowly into romance. It was never fully realized of course, and we got NaruHina in the end, but that doesn't change what led up to that.

Road to Ninja seems like a glimpse into what could have been. For me personally, I view this film as a writer's desperation to show what they really wanted, but couldn't make happen. There are so many details in this movie that indicate to me that the canon manga was a mix of 2 different people influencing the story. Someone at Jump wanted Road to Ninja, and someone else wanted The Last. Whoever wanted The Last seems to have been given complete control of the manga in its final chapters and that sudden change of direction is what made the ending of the manga feel so wrong. I think the reason it felt like the ending to a different story is because it was someone else making the decisions at that point.

I don't know if these thoughts are old news but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. If anyone happens to know if there disagreements between Kishimoto and his Editors or Jump executives then I'd be interested to know.

#943294 Kishimoto Is The Most Sexist Misogynist Manga Writer In History, Read This To...

Posted by Branden on 18 July 2017 - 10:40 AM

I think the best thing to say here is that it's a work of fiction. It's a world of might makes right where whoever is the most powerful is chosen to rule over the tribe and has to manage the various clans within the tribe. Can we really expect such a place to match up to modern ideals of equality? Demonizing Kishimoto because he didn't write a perfectly fair and equal world is just plain silly. People should be allowed to write whatever fictional works they want without fear of being harassed. It's not like he wrote his own philosophical manifesto using Naruto as a reference for what a perfect society is like.

Putting that aside it's pretty clear that at some point Kishimoto became a puppet of Jump and as we all know Jump is a business that wants to make money. So yes many changes were made to the story such as drawing it out as long as possible, changing editors, and increased concern over the criticism of the fans. As such a sort of negative feedback loop occurs. A character like Sakura was poorly written because Kishimoto was inexperienced in writing female characters and as such fans disliked her causing her to have a lesser role in the series which made her disliked even more and you can see how this got out of hand.

So don't hate on Kishimoto or groups of people or even Jump. As something gets bigger it gets more and more likely to get corrupted and lose what made it great in the first place. That's why it's so rare for things to get better by the end rather than worse.

Is there anything that makes this show worth watching?

Just watched the Microsoft presentation not too long ago. There was certainly some interesting things showcased but as a PC gamer I can't bring myself to get excited over it.

The VR minecraft display was interesting but I fear it's little more than a gimmick that will only serve as a spectacle for a few minutes before you actually go play a game. It's going to have a price wall and it isn't exactly something you can place anywhere like a TV or monitor so I doubt developers will care much for it. It'll be years before something like this is useful.

New updates from the movie are stating that Sakura tells Naruto that he only loved her due to his rivalry with Sasuke and she will never change her feelings about Sasuke.

I get the fact that they wanted to give an explanation for NH and SS but throwing out Naruto's love for Sakura as something he did because of his rivalry ??

You know that's just a huge steaming pile of Horse poo.

I'm like.....

It's not supposed to make sense. It's just an excuse. Everything in the movie is a huge excuse for why Kishimoto changed the ending. They're trying to convince us that this was the ending he had planned all along but anyone who isn't blinded by fanatacism can see that this ending was changed on a dime so that western fans wouldn't be alienated. The only thing we can hope for now is for the new generation manga to fail that way Jump will know that they can't ruin the ending of a manga people care about without consequence.

#674328 Ferguson

First off, I don't give two kittens about what Kim Jong Un has to say about Ferguson. He is not any better.

Now that that's out of the way....

The protesters as a whole reject the looters and protect businesses. There are pictures flying everywhere that prove just that. And I read somewhere that there are pro-Darren Wilson people pretending to be protesters to make the pro-Ferguson people look bad. Can't find the source on that, so I can't say it as fact, but I wouldn't be surprised lmfao

You really think 3 black people and 9 white people is a fair jury? In a case fueled by anti-black racism? In a town that is by far mostly comprised of black people? Really?

Grand jury isn't a fair trail to begin with. Regardless, if you want to get upset about something then why choose this case in particular that's far more controversial due to the evidence and trail indicating his innocence instead of getting upset about at the countless other flagrant examples of police brutality and excessive force? The goal of the U.S. court system is to ensure that no innocent person is ever convicted of a crime they didn't do. If there is enough evidence for 12 people to agree that there was probable cause for use of deadly force then we should accept it. Back to what I was saying before, why choose this case instead of a more clear cut one?

Eric Garner's murder is a perfect example of something you SHOULD be upset about:

#670534 Why did Kishimoto play with us?

Posted by Branden on 23 November 2014 - 11:27 PM

I'm still convinced that Kishimoto's original plan was NaruSaku but he was forced to change it in recent times. Really it just doesn't make sense for him to trainwreck the series so hard unless someone forced his hand.

#659575 How would you have made NaruSaku canon?

Posted by Branden on 13 November 2014 - 09:14 AM

Simple. Have an emotional team 7 forgiveness speach while Naruto and Sasuke are both at the valley of the end. After that spend the rest of the chapter resolving things and explaining plot points until the last couple of pages where everything has calmed down.

Then have a lone meeting (location can be anywhere that fits) between Naruto and Sakura. Naruto confesses, Sakura professes the feeling is mutual, and finally we get a kiss and it ends there.

I hope this site will continue to be as discussion filled and cheerful as it has been in the past.
We may have a bright future ahead of us now that we are all finally off of Kishimoto's wild ride.

You know the people I'm saddest for now are the people in Japan who paid for this manga so Kishi could keep writing it. They've all been let down with this ending.

#617233 The NEW NaruSaku Debate Thread

The BAD 1. Sakura comes and stops Sasuke by hugging him 2. Sakura arrives after the fight is over and heals Sasuke while Kakash helps Naruto. 3. I know this one sounds funny but whatever, Hinata shows up out of nowhere and saves Naruto. The GOOD 1. Sakura saves Naruto by hitting Sasuke 2. Sakura saves Naruto by risking her life and Naruto gets pissed. 3. Sakura arrives after the fight is over and goes to Naruto to heal him first. The OK 1. Naruto has a trick up his sleeve and gets Sasuke. 2. Sasuke has a change of heart. 3. A lot of talking and Sakura arrives at the end yelling for them to stop. Theres a lot more but these are some.

Personally I'm a fan of OK #2. This just isn't the kind of fight that can be resolved just by who's stronger or who dies first. It's an ideological battle that will only have true resolution if they both work together as equals. That's not going to happen though because this is a shonen manga and Kishimoto really likes to be as simple as possible.

#601809 Teenager Killed and R**** his Mother

Posted by Branden on 12 October 2014 - 04:49 AM

This is fascinating. I wonder what on earth caused him to grow up in such a way that would lead him to commit such crimes.

He seems to view things objectively but still act irrationally knowing full well what the consequences were. I'm still not sure if he truly wanted to kill himself or if he asked his mom that as a test. In any case after we've studied his psychology thoroughly he should be put to death. We have no need to doubt that he did the crime. He admitted it and we have video evidence. Putting him in a jail cell for his entire life is a waste of tax-payer money.
